1 2017 Clinic Test Directions: Answer Each Question by Giving the information on each aspect of the play. Example A A-30 Ready or Snap or Running Clock or No Clock 1. A A35 Quarterback A11 sweeps to his right, turns the corner, and goes into a feet-first slide to give himself up. When he starts his slide, the forward-most point of the ball is at the A-44. When his hips hit the ground, the forward-most point of the ball is at the A-46. ANS. A A A A-35 Guard A66 is next to the snapper. Immediately after the snap, A66 fires out and blocks linebacker B33 at the A-38. The block is below the waist at B33's side. A34 runs the ball and is tackled at the A-48 ANS. A A-23. (Spot Foul) 3. A B-5 Team A completes a pass into the end zone for a touchdown. Right Guard A62 is called for holding. ANS A B-15, snap 4. A A-40 At the snap tight end A89 is aligned six yards from the snapper. Before the ball has left the tackle box A89 blocks tackle B77 below the waist at the side. ANS. A A A A-20 Snapper Al lifts or moves the ball forward before moving it backward to start the snap. B2 bats the ball, causing it to roll loose with B3 recovering. ANS. A A A B-5 The A22 ball carrier becomes airborne at the B-2 and touches the pylon with his foot. When his foot touches the pylon, the ball in his possession is outside the pylon and over the goal line extended. Ruling? ANS. Touchdown, A B-3 1 of 5

2 7. A B-25 Team A commits a live-ball illegal shift on a play in which A34 carries the ball across Team B's goal line. ANS. A B-30 Snap 8. A A-30 On a punt, a Team A Player goes out-of-bounds on his own and returns to make the tackle at the B-45. ANS B 1/10 at 50 or A A A B-40 Ball carrier A35 runs the ball to the 8-25 and goes out-of-bounds with 2:00 remaining in the second quarter. ANS A B-25 ready 10. A B-26 The score is A23-B25. Neither team has a timeout. While Al2 attempts a FG, B97 runs from 2 yards beyond the neutral zone and jumps over the snapper without touching him. The field goal misses wide right. ANS A B A Free A-35 Team A Kickoff at A-35. During the kick, B27 shoves A14 in the back at the B40 (not trying to reach the ball). The untouched kick goes out of bounds at the B-32. ANS Rekick at A A 4/2 B-32 Al2 is in shotgun formation, takes the snap, and runs off tackle to his right. At the B29 he is hit and fumbles. A42 recovers the ball at the B-34 and is driven out of bounds at the B-25. ANS B B A B-15 B25 intercepts a pass in his end zone and attempts to run it out. B25 is hit and fumbles and the ball rolls into the field of play. There is a scramble to recover the ball which then goes out of bounds at the B-4. ANS. 3 14. A B-3. After the ready for play and before the snap, B56 charges across the LOS and forcibly knocks kicker A2 to the ground. ANS. A B 3/4 yard line, two notes: there are two fouls, the UNR CANNOT be on the free kick. 15. A A-37 Punt receiver B22 is at the B-30 waiting on the punt. As the ball makes it downward flight B48 is blocked into punt receiver B22 by A15. The ball hits B22 and bounces to the B-25 where A15 recovers. ANS. A B A 50 Team A's punt bounces untouched by Team B into the EZ. Team B Head Coach requests that the ball be placed on the Right Hash. State the ball placement in your answer. ANS B B A B-20. Score is A34 B35. A80 catches All's pass and advances to the B-2 where he is hit and fumbles. The ball rolls forward into the end zone and subsequently rolls out of bounds through Team B's end zone. B55 is called for roughing the passer. Time expired in the fourth quarter during the down. ANS A B A A-30 A5's punt is blocked. Both teams muff the blocked punt and the ball does not cross the neutral zone. A55 recovers the ball behind the neutral zone and carries it to the A-40. ANS A A A A-40 A80 catches a forward pass at the A-48 and runs to the 50 where he fumbles. B28 recovers the fumble at the 50 and is tackled at the A-35. B90 is flagged for roughing the passer. ANS A B-45 3 of 5

4 20. A A-45 A17 punts the ball to B21 who is on the B-10. B21 gives a fair catch signal and then blocks A22 at the B-12. The ball hits on the B-5 and goes out of bounds at the B-3. ANS B B-1 1/ Team A's linemen are numbered (left to right) From a position ten yards directly behind snapper A20, kicker A5 receives the snap and completes a pass to A89, who then goes out of bounds at the B-45. "Immediately" after the snap, nose guard B50 charged into A20. ANS A B A B-20. B30 intercepts a forward pass in B's end zone and returns the ball to the B-7 and fumble when A25 grabs and twists his facemask. A72 recovers the ball on the B-4 but then fumbles at the B-2. The loose ball strikes Team B's goal line pylon. ANS B B A-15 Snapper A55 is called for holding at the line of scrimmage. B44 returns the punt to the A-24 where he is hit late, out of bounds. ANS B A-7, live ball followed by dead ball 24. A A15 On a sweep play, B55 grabs the ball carrier in the back at the nameplate, just below the collar of the jersey, and quickly jerks him to the ground at the A-15. ANS A A FK A-35 Team A makes an on-side kick at the A-35 that goes up in the air after bouncing twice. B22 is in position to receive the kick at the A-47 when A55 legally blocks him, allowing A88 to recover the ball at the A-47. ANS A A-47 4 of 5

5 BONUS 26. A-30 B66 blocks the punt and the ball bounces right back to punter A5. A5 recovers the ball and re-kicks the ball immediately at the A-20. B23 catches the ball at the B-41 and returns to B48. During the second kick by A5, he is roughed by B53. No blocks affected B53's contact to A5, and B53 did not touch the kicked ball.
