2 Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler 8 th Annual 5K Run & Walk Celebrating the Spirit of Caregiving Sunday, September 20, 2009 The mission of Halifax Health - Hospice of Volusia/Flagler is to provide comfort and compassion to every person facing the end-of-life. Halifax health - Hospice is a respected leader in end-of-life care and compassionate medical service. We have grown from an average daily census of 35 in 1986 to more than 600 patients cared for by over 400 full-time professional employees and more than 600 volunteers. Patients are cared for in their home, in nursing homes, hospitals, in our three inpatient care centers in Port Orange, Orange City and Edgewater. We have helped more than 46,000 patients in our 30 years of service. In addition to providing care for our patients we work with the patient s caregiver, often times a spouse or child of the patient, to educate them and provide support for them in their time of need. All of the proceeds raised at this annual event go to providing respite care to the caregivers of our patients. We have witnessed ordinary people perform extraordinary acts of kindness and compassion for those at life s end. After all these years, we are still moved by the dedication and sacrifices family members give to their loved ones as they face the end-of-life s journey. Over 3,000 supporters have participated in our 5K Run & Walk event over the past 7 years. When you sponsor the 5K Run & Walk your company will make a difference for many of our patient s family members, friends and loved ones. By sponsoring this event you will show your company's support of Halifax Health - Hospice s caregivers. Our goal is to underwrite all of our event expenses with cash and in-kind contributions. Monetary donations offset the expense of holding the 5K Run & Walk so we can give more to benefit Halifax Health Hospice s caregivers. Sponsorship opportunities exist at the following levels: Presenting, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Mile Marker levels, with increasing benefits for your company at each increment. In-kind donations of products will be categorized at full retail value.
