2 General Information Middle and Senior School Athletics Championships The TAS Athletics Championships is a mass-participation event. All students are strongly encouraged to participate in all events on all days. Attendance on 1 April is compulsory. Participation in the 100m (where a roll will be taken) and two field events is the minimum expected on the main day. On 29 March students are expected to compete in a minimum of two field events. Age groups are based on how old a student turns this year eg. a student turning 15 this year is in the 15s age group. Scoring points * Students who are placed in the first 8 for an event will score championship points for their House as well as points towards their individual age championship. * Every student who enters an event, and provides a fair effort in the event, will score a minimum of 2 points for his or her House (this is a P standard). The better their performance, the more points they will score for their House. A C standard scores 3 points, a B standard scores 5 points and an A standard scores 7 points. Note that these standards points do not count towards the individual championships. Team selections These Championships will be used as a guide to select our athletics teams for the GPS, NCIS and PSSA carnivals. Dress On the main day of events, and the days prior to the main day, students are to wear their House polo shirt, or House athletics singlet, and navy TAS shorts. If socks are worn they must be white. If tracksuits are needed they must be TAS tracksuits. When not competing students should wear a TAS cap, TAS bucket hat, TAS Akubra hat or Chappell-style cricket hat. BBQ lunch Lunch will be provided for all students (including day students) and their parents from 12.30pm. Page 2
