1 A Weekly Summary of the Colorado Springs Striders Track Club June 24, 2018 The STRIDER STRIDERS WIN 7 GOLD, 8 SILVER & 10 BRONZE MEDALS AT STATE JUNIOR OLYMPIC CHAMPIONSHIPS Solomon Latimer takes off in winning the boys high jump at the state JO meet Joseph Bjegovich gets off a good throw in winning the boy s shot put at the State Junior Olympic Championships. 2 Fourth place qualifiers for regionals were,natalia Moya ( m) Cydnee Taylor ( m & long jump), Alyssa Ferguson ( m), Nadhia Campos ( m),Sydney Gaspar ( & 2000m steeplechase), Aliyah George ( m)Kaiman Richardson (11-12 shot put) and Bloomfield Yarbrough ( m). The boys and 9-10 boys relay team of (from l-r) Kobe Dooley,Wesley Wright, Terrence Morris, Kaiman Richardson, Asheton Burton, Collin Wolf & Bloomfield Yarbrough prepare for their relays which both teams won. The Striders had a superb outing at the 2018 Colorado State Junior Olympic Championships on June 21-24, 2018 at Legacy Stadium in Aurora, Colorado. The meet culminated in the Striders collecting 7 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze medals. The Striders qualified 30 individual athletes in 33 events for the Region X Championships on July 5-8 also to be held at Legacy Stadium. Calvin Weiner passes off to the anchor leg, Bloomfield Yarbrough, in the 4 x 100 relay which they won. The Striders were led by double gold-medalists Garrett Weiner who captured the 8 and under 400 meters in a new club record time of 1:28.06 and the shot in another club record of ¾. Earlier in the week Hannah Turpin took the gold in the girls pentathlon with a point total of The 9-10 boys 4x 100 meter relay team of Asheton Burton, Collin Wolf, Calvin Weiner and Bloomfield Yarbrough took the gold in a time of 1: Additionally, the boys 4x 100 meter relay team of Kaiman Richardson, Kobe Dooley, Wesley Wright and Terrence Morris won the gold in In the boy s division, Joseph Bjegovich won the shot put gold with a throw of ¾ while Solomon Latimer took the high jump gold with an effort of 4 11 ¾. Silver medals were won by Natalia Moya (8&U-100), Hannah Turpin (13-14 high jump),aliyah George( m), Jasmine Charles,Alyssah Xayarath, Kayli Cooper,Aliyah George( x100), Collin Wolf(9-10 long jump), Terrence Morris ( &200m),and Brandon Williams( M). Bronze medalist included Natalia Moya (8&U long jump),cydnee Taylor( m) Alyssa Ferguson ( & 3000m),Lauren Handy (13-14 high jump), Jahzara Davis 400MH & ), Davis, Myia Dantzler, Nia Moss, Laina Richard x100m), Nylah Rigdon, Tabitha Butler, Myla Wolf,Hannah Turpin( x400m) Asheton Burton (9-10 long jump). and Brandon Williams (15-16 boy s 800m). Asheton Burton leaps into the pit to take the 9-10 boy s long jump bronze medal. Jahzara Davis reaches out into the pit to win the bronze medal in the girl s long jump.

8 Bloomfield Yarbrough woprks hard to capture fourth in the 9-10 boy s 100 meters. Sydney Gaspar took fourthj place in the girl s 800, 1500 and 2000 meter steeplechase. Kaiman Richardson took fourth in the boy s shot put. Nadhia Campos placed fourth in the meters.
