1 Dmestic Assembly Update The sprting landscape has changed in recent years and there is an ever-increasing financial pressure placed n all natinal gverning bdies. British Athletics is nt immune t this financial pressure and as such can n lnger cntinue t pay fr all aspects f an athletes travel t/frm every cmpetitin r champinship they attend. Fr mst Olympic and Paralympic sprts, the cst f dmestic assembly already falls t each individual athlete. Therefre, frm the 1 April 2018, all athletes, whether n the Wrld Class Prgramme r nt, will be respnsible fr the cst and arrangement f their wn dmestic assembly t all cmpetitins/champinships. This will apply t all athletes, whether their training base is in the UK r abrad. The cst f internatinal assembly (internatinal flights [frm the UK t the fficial cmpetitin airprt] and accmmdatin at the cmpetitin venue) will remain the respnsibility f British Athletics. Fr full details and when, in certain circumstances, British Athletics will ffer a cntributin twards an athletes dmestic assembly csts please see the British Athletics Dmestic Assembly Plicy. Dmestic Assembly Plicy Effective frm 1 April 2018 The dmestic assembly (1) csts f getting t/frm a cmpetitin r champinship is the respnsibility f each individual athlete (the internatinal assembly csts will remain the respnsibility f British Athletics). British Athletics will hwever ffer a dmestic assembly cntributin t sme athletes travelling t sme specific cmpetitins. The cntributin is based n the distance the athlete is living/training frm the internatinal departure airprt (whether based in the UK r abrad). This Dmestic Assembly Plicy utlines hw athletes will qualify fr a cntributin. 1. Financial cntributins will nly be awarded t athletes wh: i. meet the criteria in this plicy AND ii. are representing GB and NI at ne f the specific cmpetitins listed under Cmpetitins List (3) in the appendix sectin f this plicy. 2. In general, this plicy will nly apply fr senir athletes attending senir cmpetitins and nt fr age grup athletes (U18, U20, U23) attending age grup cmpetitins. Age grup athletes Page 1

2 will have t cver the full cst f their dmestic assembly, althugh sme exceptins are listed in the Cmpetitins List(³) in the appendix. 3. Financial cntributins twards dmestic flight (2), train, car mileage (paid at 0.25 per mile) r bus transprt will be awarded based n the fllwing schedule: Distance f training base frm internatinal departure airprt Under 100 miles miles miles and ver 100 Nte: Ggle maps will be used t determine distances. Max. Cntributin (return jurney) 4. Fr any athlete wh requires persnal equipment fr cmpetitin (ple vault ples, racing chair r thrwing frame) and needs t travel with them n a dmestic flight, an additinal 50 (per return jurney) may be applied fr by the athlete. 5. There will be n cntributin t car parking. 6. All dmestic assembly cntributins will need t be claimed via submitting a British Athletics expenses frm which must be sent (with receipts and signed by hand) within 1 mnth upn return frm the cmpetitin. Expense frms submitted withut any receipts will nt be paid. Expenses submitted after this deadline may nt be paid. 7. If there are mre than 15 team members travelling frm the same lcatin, mre than 100 miles frm the internatinal departure airprt, British Athletics will, if cst effective, arrange a bus as an alternative t athletes claiming dmestic assembly cntributins. 8. If the internatinal flight is departing the UK befre 10am (with a check in time f 8am), British Athletics may cntribute twards the cst f accmmdatin at the internatinal departure airprt fr the night befre. The plicy fr this will be dealt with n a cmpetitin by cmpetitin basis. It is wrth nting that British Athletics will always aim t chse a late mrning/early afternn flight whenever pssible but this will be dependent n airline flight schedules and budget cnstraints. 9. Fr the avidance f dubt, fr any ther cmpetitins that are nt listed in the appendix the respnsibility fr arranging and paying fr any dmestic assembly lies with each individual athlete. 10. If the editin f the internatinal cmpetitin is hsted in the UK (i.e Eurpean Indr Champinships in Glasgw), this dmestic assembly plicy des nt apply. British Athletics will arrange a separate plicy fr assembly csts in each instance. Page 2

3 11. This plicy will be applied using a practical and reasnable apprach. There may, n ccasin, be exceptins r situatins f extreme financial hardship, which are nt cvered by this plicy. British Athletics reserves that right t make any reasnable exceptins and t amend this plicy if deemed necessary. Page 3

4 Appendix Dmestic assembly (1) a. Dmestic assembly is defined as: i. Return travel arrangements (within UK r cuntry f residence) t/frm the usual training base f the athlete t the internatinal departure airprt. ii. Accmmdatin in the UK r cuntry f residence (usually at the internatinal departure airprt) that is required the night befre any internatinal departure. Dmestic flights (2) a. Dmestic flight is defined as a return flight within the UK r cuntry f residence. b. Fr all athletes bking their wn flights yu can chse t bk nline directly with an airline f yur chice r cntact UKA s travel agency cntact details can be prvided. c. British Athletics recmmendatins fr bking a dmestic flight: i. The arrival time f the dmestic flight at the internatinal departure airprt shuld be a minimum f 2 hurs befre the departure time f the utward internatinal flight. ii. The departure time f the dmestic flight frm the internatinal departure airprt must be a n less than 1.5 hurs after the scheduled arrival time f the inward internatinal flight. d. If the internatinal flight is delayed t such an extent that an athlete missed their dmestic flight (subject t athletes bking their flight based n the recmmendatins abve), British Athletics will make further arrangements fr athletes travel back t their training base.
