1 Product family Current transformers Current transformers (CTs) are introduced where it is difficult to access a direct measuring ot network current. Current transformer transforms the high network current (primary current) to a standard low measuring current (secondary current) with a certain accuracy (classes). In addition the current transformer must isolate the measuring circuit and to it connected measuring devices from the network, i.e.: a galvanic isolation of measuring circuit from network. So that the measuring devices which are connected to the measuring circuit, are protected from destruction. The accuracy and safety of the connected measuring devices are directly regulated by the quality factor of the introduced current transformers. The current transformers of range 0.5 correspond to the DIN VDE 0414/1; DIN and DIN EN 60044/1: Issue 11/2001 Robust, stable and economical design Top-quality, hardly flammable and self-extinguishing polycarbonate cover Excellent technical data Small dimensions for bigger busbars Large secondary terminals, safety against accidental contact according to BGV A2 Mounting brackets and fixing screw on busbars with integrated cover flaps are in delivery program Many different models 11-0

3 Current distribution components Current transformers Cable-connection current transformers Series WKA / Rated primary current 1A-40A Product definition Applications Product construction Current transformers are special transformers for the proportional conversion of very high currents into currents which can be measured directly. Due to their construction and their physical operating principle, they also provide DC isolation between the primary circuit and the measuring circuit, thus protecting the measuring devices against damage in the case of a fault. Current transformers with cable connections are used wherever plug-in current transformers cannot be used or would be too expensive. Due to the physical operating principle of current transformers, the core volume needed to transfer a given power increases rapidly as the rated current decreases. Since there is a limit to the size of such transformers, current transformers with cable connections are used in applications with low rated currents. Current transformers with cable connections consist of an unbreakable plastic case with ultrasonically welded seams, made of hardly flammable and self-extinguishing polycarbonate, containing high-quality toroidal tape cores. The nickel-plated primary and secondary terminals with plus-minus screws M5x10mm are located beneath integrated cover flaps and comply with BGV A

37 Current distribution components Current transformers Accessories Accessories Product definition SPACER ROLLER The spacer rollers, available with various internal and external diameters and in various lengths for the various current transformers, are used for mounting the transformers between two busbars or between the busbars and the connection terminals of the units. SEALING PLATES After installation of the transformers, the sealing plates can be used to cover the head of the transformer, including the secondary terminals. They can be sealed to prevent manipulation of the connections. SNAP-ON MOUNTING Mounting for current transformers to permit snap-on mounting on 35 mm rails in accordance with DIN or DIN

39 Current transformers Types and technical details Jean Müller Current transformers Current transformers are special transformers for the proportional transformation of high currents into direct measurable values. Their construction and physical operating principle enables a galvanic separation of the primary circuit from the measured circuit, thereby providing in the event of a fault a protection against sequence connected instruments. Tariff transformers Tariff JM measurement transformer range in the classes 0.2; 0.2s; 0.5 and 0.5 Alongside a comprehensive selection of standard current transformers in the accuracy classes 0.2s; 0.5 and 1, Jean Müller makes an extensive product range of tariff transformers for current flows between 25 A and 2500 A in the accuracy classes 0.2; 0.2s; 0.5 and 0.5s. These approved currrent transformers have the national certificates of Germany and several european countries, also approved by the Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) Braunschweig (authorized German testing office). They are recognizable by a stylised plus a construction series number. An "B" is placed behind the usual JM type mark. The certification of the transformer is documented by an official metal seal as well as an additional affixed yellow certification stamp. The rate of charges for the certification is determined by the relevant valid, official and current certification rate. Rated current The specified value of the primary and secondary currents on the rating plate. Standardized primary nominal currents have the following values: 5; 10; 15; 20; 25; 30; 40; 50; 60; 75; 100 A with a decadic multiple of the previously mentioned values to a maximum of 2500 A. Standardized secondary nominal currents have the values 5 A and 1 A. Actual transformation ratio The ratio of the primary nominal current to the secondary nominal current. It is specified as an unabridged brake on the rating plate. Phase displacement error signifies the phase shift of the secondary current against the primary current. The output directions are arranged in such a way that when the transformer is without error, there is a 0 displacement. The phase displacement error is specified in phase displacement minutes or hundredths of a radius (1 degree = 34.4 min) and is positively calculated, if the secondary size succeeds the primary one. rating The product of the (rated output) burden and the square of the secondary nominal current in Voltampere. According to DIN VDE 0414, p. 7, point 7, the following nominal ratings are standardised for current transformers 2.5; 5; 7.5; 10 and 15 VA
