With the IAAF not catering for a World Youth (u/18) Championships anymore, the responsibility is now on Africa (CAA) to create development opportunities for the youth (U/18) category. With the date of the 2019 CAA African U18 & U20 Championships so early in the year, this poses a challenge for ASA which traditionally hosted its Youth and Junior Championships in the 1 st or 2nd week of April each year. The attached 2019 ASA National Fixtures List (Sept version) proposes for the 2019 ASA Youth and Junior Championships to take place from March 2019, one week earlier than usual. The date for the 2019 ASA Youth and Junior Championships is proposed to allow more time to select a South African Youth and Junior Team for the 2019 CAA African U18 & U20 Championships. In other words it is proposed that the 2019 ASA Youth and Junior Championships will serve as the qualifier for the 2019 CAA African U18 & U20 Championships.
