Commenced to over race in the middle stages and approaching the 800 metres shifted out to avoid the heels of Mattis Dancing and as a result raced wide without cover for the remainder of the race. He said that he was instructed to try and save ground in search of runs on the inside as the gelding is best ridden in this manner rather than attempting to improve around the field. He added that he was hoping to obtain a run to the inside of La Jonola approaching the 200 metres, however, was disappointed and had to be checked and as such he elected to come back to the outside of Manussia to improve where the gelding made good ground to the finish.
