2 WHERE: Salisbury Community Park 935 Hurley School Road, Salisbury, NC Parking is available on site. WHY: The Girls on the Run 5k is the culminating event of the 10-week program. Whether running, walking, skipping or jumping across the finish line on 5k day, completing a 5k is a goal set by the girls at the beginning of the program. Proceeds benefit Girls on the Run serving the Greater Piedmont, so all girls who wish to participate in the program have the opportunity regardless of financial limitations. IMPORTANT NOTES: Your GOTR girl is already registered and paid. Simply find your team flag upon arrival and check in with your Coach. (See page 4 for team flag information) All Running Buddies must check in at the Purple Registration Tent If your daughter s Running Buddy has not yet registered, please be sure to bring the $25 registration fee on race day. (Cash and credit card accepted) Once the Running Buddy is registered, head to your team s flag and check in with the team s coach. Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances. Running Buddies can register online through 12/6/18 at: WHAT TO WEAR: Girls on the Run Program participants should wear their BLUE GOTR program t-shirt during the 5k. Heart & Sole participants should wear their MAROON program shirt. These shirts identify program participants so our volunteers know that she receives a medal when she crosses the finish line. TEAM UNITY: We encourage each GOTR team to be creative to make their group stand out! This is a fun tradition at the GOTR 5ks. Prior to 5k day, teams can decorate program t-shirts, or plan to wear unique headbands, capes, tutus, or other fun, creative items to embrace the uniqueness of their team.

3 IMPORTANT SAFETY MESSAGE: Please be aware that the course has mixed terrain including grass, gravel and uneven pavement. Stay alert and aware! Please do not allow your girls to wear ear buds or headphones. We ll have volunteers throughout the course to help with traffic, and cones will be placed throughout the area. Stay alert and aware of the surroundings. SAFETY FIRST!! RUNNER ETIQUETTE and 411: Move to the right side if you need to stop or walk. Be aware of your surroundings; always listen to event volunteers, police, & EMS. There will be 1 water stop on the course that the runners will pass 2 times. Do not stop at the Finish Line - keep moving through the Finisher s Chute. SPECTATOR ETIQUETTE: Do not impede the path of any runner throughout the course and at the Finish. Be respectful of other spectators trying to get a glimpse of & cheer on their special runner. Always listen to our event volunteers, police, and EMS. Do not block or enter the Finisher s Chute for any reason.

5 GENERAL EVENT INFORMATION Food/Beverages: Weather: Pet/Stroller Policy: Merchandise Sales: Restrooms: Please make sure your daughter is well hydrated! There will be 1 water stop on the course and water also will be available AFTER girls complete the 5k. All 5k participants are welcome to join us at the Refreshment Table for fruit and snacks AFTER they complete the run. The 5k will go on regardless of inclement weather, so be sure to dress for the weather! GOTR Staff will determine if a delayed start is required due to inclement weather. For safety, all furry friends are not allowed on the course or at the event, so please leave all pets at home on 5k day! Strollers and jogging strollers are welcome; please line up behind the girls. Get your GOTR Gear! Don t forget to bring cash or credit cards to purchase items from our GOTR Shop Merchandise Tent! Porta-Johns will be on site. Additional Questions?
