Whatever you call them, there s no denying that weimaraners are a special type of dog. All of us at Heartland Weimaraner Rescue would say that to know a weimaraner (or two) is to love them. They are beautiful and athletic, affectionate and energetic with an abundance of personality. Because of the strong bonds a weimaraner forms with its owner, many of our volunteers and adopters are weimaraners-forlife people. Once you have a weim in your life, you can t live without them. Heartland Weimaraner Rescue will host the 7 th annual Ghost Runners 5k Dog Run on October 30 th at Lake Hefner Stars and Stripes Park in Oklahoma City. This event has come to be a beloved tradition by animal lovers and 5k runners both near and far. As HWR s biggest fundraiser of the year, the Ghost Runners 5k Dog Run helps us fulfill our mission to help these wonderful animals in life-saving and life-altering ways, thanks to our generous sponsors and participants. All of the efforts of HWR are performed solely by volunteers from foster families that are willing to care for a dog in need to the planning and organizing of this race. Every penny of your sponsorship will assist HWR to provide medical care, food, and other necessities to dogs in the care of the rescue. In 2014 and 2015 HWR took in 68 and 59 dogs respectively. As we reach the halfway point through 2016, we have helped another 24 dogs, including one who had fallen out of a moving pickup truck and was left along the side of the highway. His injuries were numerous and severe, but thanks to HWR, he is alive and well today and he was recently adopted by a loving family in Pennsylvania. Because of his resilience in overcoming what could have been life-ending wounds, HWR named him Trooper. It is because of people like you that we were able to give the care he needed to heal and recover. In this packet, you ll learn more about our sponsorship opportunities and the benefits that come with each level. In the past, the race has drawn approximately 1,500 spectators, including the runners. It s a great way to promote your business and contribute to the community.
