2 Introduction/Project The Ontario Cycling Association will be sending a small team of XC mountain bike racers to the Canada Cup #1 held in Victoria B.C. that is taking place on March 31st. The project will be led by TBD The focus of the project is athletes in the Learn to Compete and Train to Compete stages of LTAD. (Ages 17-24) in There will be up to six spots available for athletes on this trip. Based on need, this trip can continue into the Fontana/Bonelli racing trip which is the following two weekends. Please see US-Cups Tech Guide for more details. Application for both Bear Mountain and the US-Cups will be completed within the same application link. Requirements Athletes must be aged in 2018 Athletes must have a valid UCI licence Overview The rationale for this project is as follows; The Bear Mountain Canada Cup is the first XC race of the season. It is an opportunity for our junior/u23 athletes to gain valuable UCI points while also giving athletes an opportunity to get some early season time on the trails. It is important that our top athletes are supported at this event and are given an opportunity to race early in the season. Another goal of this project is to teach the athletes to travel and race with efficiency. During this project the athletes will be traveling a long distance and have limited time to prepare onsite and at the hotel. They will need to practice efficient packing, riding, training, and course familiarization techniques that will ensure optimal performance in a setting that is unfamiliar and potentially challenging.

3 Selection Criteria 1st Priority: OHPSI identified athletes 2nd Priority: U17/U19/U23 National Champions 3rd Priority: U19/U23 Athletes Selected to World Championships 4th Priority: U19/U23 National Championships Top 5 Tie breaking will be based on the following: - Placing order - Gender balance - Committee selection 5th Priority: U17 National Championships Top 5 Tie breaking will be based on the following: Placing order Gender balance Committee selection Schedule Wednesday March 28 th Fly to Victoria Pre-ride course Thursday March 29 th On course efforts Friday March 30 th Active Rest and mental race prep Saturday March 31 st Race Day Sunday April 1st (Option #1) Pack up and Fly Home (Option #2) Stay and train and get ready to race Fontana the next weekend in LA. Accommodations Home Away Property #TBD Project Objectives and Goal The goal for this project is the development of U19/U23 athletes in Ontario.

4 To give our athletes an early season opportunity for competition Give athletes an opportunity to Gain UCI points so they are able to compete in UCI competitions outside of Canada Staff TBD Athlete Requirements Athletes must represent Ontario and themselves in a professional manner at all times Athletes are required to wear Team Ontario Kit during competition Athletes must have completed CCES Online Anti-doping Program within the last 2 years Health and Safety In the event an athlete is injured or fall seriously ill and is required to be transported back to Ontario, transportation will be make from Victoria International Airport at the cost of the athlete. Any head injury will require the OCA Concussion Policy [ to be followed and any return to training/competition will require doctor s clearance and family clearance [if under 18].

5 Forms Expression of interest forms will be completed online using CCN bikes. Please indicate what races you would like to participate in, you will see the options online when you express interest in the projects. Chargeback The chargeback will be based on the number of races that are attended and how much funding is available. We will do our best to make this trip as affordable as possible.
