Competitions: Individual Events: Team Events: 1. Bench Press yard Relay 2. Farmer s Walk 2. Team Tug O War (Bonus) 3. Medicine Ball Throw 4. 2 Individual Events Rules Schools may enter up to 5 students in any individual event Points will be awarded to the top eight athletes in each event Ties will not be broken for individual honors in individual events Bench Press Each athlete will accomplish as many repetitions using 185lbs for 1 rep and 135lbs for ½ reps as many times as possible Each athlete shall grip the bar no wider than index fingers on the ring The athlete shall take the weight from the rack and hold it at arm s length before starting the movement Each repetition shall include touching the bar to the chest and pressing the bar until the elbows are locked (bar must touch the athlete s chest) There must be five points of contact with the bench (head, shoulder blades, buttocks, left foot, and right foot) Failure to properly execute the lift shall result in the attempt not being included in the total count for the athlete Elbow wraps and bench shirts of any kind are not allowed Participants will be spotted by a member from an opposing school Tire Flip Each athlete will work alone to flip the tire 30 meters Time shall begin on the whistle The athlete will flip the tire the length of the course staying within the course boundaries The clock stops when the front edge of the tire is on the ground across the finish line The tire must be flipped end over end down the course Rolling or carrying the tire is not permitted The tire must rest flat on the ground before each attempt Athletes may use gloves
3 Farmer s Walk Each athlete shall carry the two implements down a 30 meter course and back, equaling 60 meters Each implement shall weigh not more than 80 lbs. The athlete shall begin behind the starting line of the course The athlete shall pick up the implements when ready Time shall start when the athlete takes his first step across the line The clock will stop when the front of both implements cross the finish line If an athlete cannot carry both implements at the same time they may carry one at a time Failure to complete the course will result in maximum time of 120 seconds Athletes may use gloves and chalk for this event Medicine Ball Throw The medicine ball for competition will weigh 15 lbs Each athlete will have up to two (2) throws The athlete s longest throw shall be used for standings Throws shall be measured to the nearest 1/8 inch The athlete will throw the ball from a kneeling position where both knees are in contact with designated surface Throws shall be marked from the front of the throwing area to the closest edge of the medicine ball s landing mark If the athlete crosses the throwing line the throw will be disqualified
4 Team Events Rules Teams shall consist of 5 student athletes for each event Points will be awarded to the top eight teams in each event 120 yard relay Relay will be held outside on grass Athletes are encouraged to wear cleats Time shall begin on the whistle Students shall all begin laying on their backs The first runner leaves on the whistle The next runner shall explode up and begin when the previous runner crosses the finish line Each runner must complete all obstacles on the course before crossing the finish line Time shall end when the last runner crosses the finish line Tug O War Event shall begin on the whistle A victory will be scored when the bandana (middle of the rope) crosses opposing teams cone Each team will have a maximum of two (2) battles The winning team in each battle will receive five (5) bonus points Athletes are encouraged to wear gloves
5 Lineman Challenge Scoring Point system in each event: 1 st = 8 points 2 nd = 7 points 3 rd = 6 points 4 th = 5 points 5 th = 4 points 6 th = 3 points 7 th = 2 points 8 th = 1 point In case of a tie in any event the points for the positions occupied will be split. For example, if there is a 2 way tie for 3 rd place then the points for 3 rd and 4 th place would be added together and ½ would go to each tied athlete. If there is a 3 way tie for 6 th then the points for 6 th, 7 th, and 8 th place will be added together and 1/3 of those points would be given to each tied athlete.
