3 Race day program & events contested 7am Race check in and registration opens at Tolosa Park, Tolosa St, Glenorchy 10 km races, finish on summit of Mt Wellington (time limit 2 hours 15 mins) 7.50am Race briefing: Australian Men s and Women s 10km and non-championship 10km (age limit 65 yrs) 8am Australian Men s 10 km Championship and non-championship open 10 km for men 8.05am Australian Women s 10 km Championship and non-championship open 10 km for women Transport back to Tolosa Park will be provided for runners who don t have friends etc who will be doing so. 5.6 km races, finish on summit of Goat Hill (time limit 50 mins) 8.10am Race briefing: Australian Junior Men s and Women s 5.6 km and non-championship 5.6 km 8.20am Australian Junior Men s and Australian Junior Women s 5.6 km (see age group eligibility) 8.25am Non-Championship 5.6 km Runners must make their way on foot back to Telosa Park taking care when passing through the Telosa Mountain Bike Park as there is an event planned from 10.30am. Presentation of awards: Bearing in mind travel constraints, the presentation of awards for each event will take place when everyone from the event is back down the mountain but may be brought forward for place getters if needing to leave to catch a plane or meet some other travel requirement. Draft presentation timetable: 10.50am Australian Junior Championships and non-championship 5.6 km 11.30am Australian Senior Men s and Women s Championships and non-championship 10km Courses 5.6 kms: uphill on trails to the summit of Goat Hill (total ascent 601 m) 10 kms: uphill on trails to the summit of Mt Wellington (total ascent 1432 m) Eligibility Australian Championship events: with the exception of the following age restriction for juniors, the Championship events are open to any fit distance runners, triathletes, cross country skiers, orienteers, rogainers, adventure racers and fun runners, who are capable of completing the courses within the time limits. Non-Championship 5.6 km and 10km ascents: open to any fit distance runners, triathletes, cross country skiers, orienteers, rogainers, adventure racers and fun runners aged 15 to 75 years, who are capable of completing the courses within the time limits (and then walking or jogging back down the mountain in the case of the 5.6km race). Please do not compete if carrying an injury or if ill during the last few days before race day. Age restriction for junior competitors The World Mountain Running Association in 2003 introduced the following rule which applies to the Australian Championships: Competition in WMRA Junior races (male and female) is limited to those aged 16, 17, 18 and 19 years on the 31st December in the year of the competition. This rule will be strictly implemented; please do not enter if younger than the age cut off. Race attire No participant may run bare chested. All participants should be wearing either their club or state uniform or a personal uniform of singlet/running top and shorts/tights/bike pants which presents a good image of the sport for media coverage All participants must wear a race number on the front of their uniform which is fully visible as they approach time keeping and recording officials on the course at turnaround points and at the finish. The courses are quite steep in places and running shoes with very good grip are essential. Pre-race check in and start line check in and briefing All competitors must: 3

4 check in and receive their race number at registration at least 20 minutes before the start time for their races. be on the start line for a briefing 10 minutes before start time. Race refreshment stations Water will be available at the finish of each race, at the road crossing for the 10 km event, and at the start area. Awards will given to the following categories Individual for Athletics Australia and AMRA championships. Athletics Australia championship medals will be awarded to the first three individual competitors outright in each of the Australian men s 10 kms, women s 10 kms, junior men s 5.6 kms and junior women s 5.6 kms Championships AMRA awards will be made to the first three finishers in each of the following age groups: U18, U20, open. Teams medals for Athletics Australia championships. Athletics Australia championship teams medals will be awarded to the first three State teams of three registered State Athletics Association members in the Senior Men s and Women s Championships, but only if a category has three or more such teams. Non-Championship events: 1 st 3 males and females and barrel draw prizes of wine and chocolates for the rest. Entry fees and closing dates Australian Senior Men s and Women s 10 km Championships: $30 by 9pm on 19 March; $40 by 9pm on 4 April. Australian Junior Men s 5.6 km and Junior Women s 5.6 km Championships: $20 by 9pm on 19 March; $30 by 9pm on 4 April. Non-Championship 10 km: $25 by 9pm on 19 March; $35 by 9pm on 4 April. Non-Championship 5.6 km: $20 by 9pm on 19 March; $30 by 9pm on 4 April. Entries close at 9pm on Wednesday 4 April. No late entries will be accepted after this and no late entries will be accepted on race day World Mountain Running Championships Sunday 16 September, Canillo, Andorra on 10 km and 5 km uphill courses in the Pyrenees mountains.
