Althugh the Hub City Hustle has nt taken place every year, Hattiesburg has still had an annual triathln. We thank Ben Hughes, wner f Suthern Race Management, fr his service t ur endurance cmmunity thrugh race prductin and club rganizatin. All Athletes must present a pht I.D. in rder t pick up their race packets. USA Triathln annual members must bring a current USAT card r be able t prve membership with a cpy f the USAT card r have membership inf available n a smart phne. If yu are nt an annual member, r cannt prve membership, yu must purchase a $12 ne day license (cash r check nly) Minrs must be accmpanied t packet pickup by a parent in rder t sign race waivers Athletes can nly pick up their race packets. All relay team members must pick up their wn race packets, but they d nt need t cme t packet pickup tgether. Each relay member will have their wn race packet. After picking up the race packet, it is imprtant t check that all numbered items in the packet match. If there is an issue, the athlete shuld return t packet pickup. Bike Check--In and Transitin Area: In rder t check yur bike int the transitin area, yur bike and helmet numbers must be in place. We recmmend affixing yur bike number t yur bike nce yu arrive at the race site if yu are transprting yur bike n a rack utside f yur vehicle. Bike warm---ups will be allwed after yu check yur bike in. Please be cautius f ther races &spectatrs in the area, AND WEAR YOUR HELMET. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST WEAR A BIKE HELMET ANYTIME THEY ARE MOUNTED ON THEIR BIKE, BEFORE, DURING, OR AFTER THE RACE. Yur helmet must be fastened. The penalty fr nt wearing a fastened helmet is DISQUALIFICATION and it WILL be enfrced. Bikes will be assigned dedicated rws. When yu arrive, lk fr yur race number, and munt yur bike n that rw nly. Please be cnsiderate f ther athletes when setting up yur gear. Bikes shuld be racked with alternating frnt wheels dwn. All bicycles except recumbent bikes are allwed. Only athletes are allwed int the transitin area. Spectatrs must remain utside. The fllwing items are nt allwed in the transitin area: Ballns r any ther items that may becme entangled in the gear f anther athlete, versized bins, versized bags r bjects which will invade the space f anther athlete, bike trainers, Please limit yur items t fit inside ONE bag. Bdy Marking: Athletes will be bdy marked at the entrance t transitin n race mrning. Headphnes/iPds/Smartphnes: Headphnes (and all ther audible devices) are prhibited n any prtin f the racecurse. Accrding t USAT rules, iphnes and mst smart phnes are audible devices and may nt be turned n r used during a triathln. Athletes are allwed t carry them in the ff psitin and stred in the event f an emergency. They may nt be used fr any ther reasn than an emergency call.

4 Timing: The race will be timed by the awesme staff f Cajun Timing. Yu may pick up yur timing chip n race mrning utside the transitin area. Yu must wear this chip arund yur ankle fr the entire race. Relays must transfer the chip t teammates; see detail in the relay teams sectin. If yu lse yur chip during the race, please ntify the timing staff immediately after yu crss the finish line. Chips must be turned in at the finish area; we will have vlunteers ready t assist yu. Race Day Withdrawal: Any athlete electing nt t race r drpping ut during the race must ntify a race fficial immediately. Relay Teams: Relay Teams will have a dedicated bike rack. Bikers and runners shuld be inside the transitin near their rack shrtly after their swimmer starts. When the swimmer enters the transitin area, they will prceed t the relay bike rack and transfer the timing chip t the biker, at which time the biker will remve the bike frm the rack and prceed t the bike ut end f transitin. Upn returning t transitin, the biker wil rack their bike, then remve the chip frm their ankle and transfer it t the runner s ankle. The runner will then exit transitin and cmplete the run. The bike must be racked during chip transfer. The swimmer will wear the swim cap, the biker will use the bike number and the runner will wear the run bib. Athena and Clydesdale: Athletes electing t participate in the Athena Clydesdale divisins myst weigh in at packet pickup. If an athlete des nt make weigh in they will be mved int their age grup. Current weigh in requirements are 165 r ver fr Athena & 220 r ver fr Clydesdale. T--shirt Exchanges: We will nly prvide yu with the shirt size yu requested during registratin. If after receiving yur shirt, yu wuld like a different size, we will exchange yur shirt after the race. If yu registered after Octber 5, we cannt guarantee yur size. Pst Race: Athletes & spectatrs, bring yur flding chairs and plan n sticking arund after the race t celebrate with yur fellw athletes! Athletes will need t have their red wristbands fr the fd tent. Bike Check--ut: Bikes must be remved frm the transitin area by 11:00 am. Vlunteers will be n hand t check yur bike number against yur bdy marking. D nt remve yur bike number befre being checked at bike exit after the race. Awards Ceremny: YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO CLAIM YOUR AWARD. Awards will NOT be mailed. Categry Awards include: Beginner, Athena and Clydesdale (Tp 3 male and female) Age grup awards are given t the tp make and female finishers in 5---year increments. Relay awards are awarded t the fastest Male, Female, and Mixed Relay Spectatrs: Please invite ur friends and family t cme ut and watch yur big event! Just a cuple f pinters t keep things running smthly n race day: The race curse ccupies Heritage Subdivisin. As a precautin, spectatrs shuld arrive prir t race start (8:00am) and plan t stay fr the duratin f events (arund 11:00 am). Event refreshments are reserved fr athletes and vlunteers. If yu plan t eat n site, please bring yur wn snacks and refreshments, if yu really, really want pizza, ask fr a vlunteer shirt and we will put yu t wrk.

5 The 1/3 swim will start in a time trial fashin with athletes entering the water ne---at---a time every 5 secnds. Athletes will line up accrding t their pre---assigned number (assigned based n swim time). Athletes MUST enter the water accrding t their pre---assigned number. Failure t adhere t these rules may result in time penalty. Swim Curse: The curse we be a triangle. Yu will enter at the bat ramp and exit n the beach. There will be One buy ut in the lake yu swim arund and then head t the beach. Swim Caps: will be distributed at packet pick---up, and MUST be wrn during the swim prtin f the event. Water supprt: There will be kayaks, paddle bards and sheriff bats n the water fr supprt. Yu are allwed t hld n t any f these things as lng as they d nt give yu frward prgress. Wetsuits: Accrding t USAT Triathln rules, participants will be permitted t wear wetsuits up t and including a water temperature f 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temp is greater than 78 degrees (but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit), age grup participants may wear a wetsuit at their n discretin, but shall nt be eligible fr prizes and awards. Water temperature will be measured race mrning. Based n previus years, it is likely that the water temperature f Lake Heritage will warrant wet suits. Race rganizers will nt make a wetsuit determinatin until race mrning. The Hub City Hustle will begin at 8am with AGE GROUP fllwed by RELAY. Helmets: ALL ATHLETES MUST WEAR A BIKE HELMET ANYTIME THEY ARE MOUNTED ON THEIR BIKE. The helmet must be fastened befre the participant munts the bicycle, at all times when the participant is n the bicycle, and must nt be unfastened until the participant has dismunted. DO NOT munt yur bike at any time withut yur helmet fastened r yu WILL be disqualified. Munt/ Dismunt Line: Athlete must pass the designated line after exiting transitin befre munting the bike fr the bike prtin f the race. As the athlete returns t the transitin area, they must dismunt the bike befre reaching the designated line. N bike riding is allwed inside the transitin area. Traffic: The curse is pen t traffic. Please be alert and careful.

6 Psitin: Always ride n the right side f the rad. Stay n the far right side f the lane unless yu are actively passing anther rider. Drafting: Drafting is nt allwed. Yu must keep at least three bike lengths f clear space between yu and the cyclist in frnt. If yu mve int their draft zne, yu must pass within 15 secnds. Once passed yu must immediately exit the draft zne frm the rear, befre attempting t pass again. Curse Aid: There are n aid statins n the bike burse. Please plan yur nutritin accrdingly. Sentries: Vlunteers will be placed at every turn fr traffic cntrl and t help navigate athletes. We will als have arrws pn the rad and signs placed at every turn, It is yur respnsibility t pay attentin t the curse and yur surrundings. Curse Marshalls: We will have fficials n the bike curse ling fr rule vilatins and giving penalties. It is yur respnsibility t knw the rules. ONLY fficials can assess penalties. Penalties assessed are the decisin f the USAR fficial and the Race Directr. Decisins are final. The run curse weaves thrughut the rlling hills f Paul B. Jhnsn Yu will exit transitin and make a right turn and head twards the back gate. Yu will turn right befre the back gate n fllw the rad thrugh the camp grund and at the end f it there is a turn arund. That is exactly 1 mile. Yu will head back the way yu came and pass transitin. Transitin is the 2 mile mark. Yu will then head ut twards the frnt gate. After crssing the spillway yu have apprximately 2/10 f a mile t the turn arund. Yu will g arund the range cne in the rad and that is the 3 mile mark. Yu nw have 1 mile left the way yu just came. The finish line is right befre transitin. Aid: There will be aid statins lcated utside f the transitin area and at mile 1&2 & 3 f the run curse. Race numbers: All athletes are required t wear the race bib while n the run curse. DO NOT transfer yur number t any ther athlete r take a number frm an athlete that is nt cmpeting. Have fun: Be sure the smile fr ur race day phtgrapher as yu crss the finish line. 8 Exit the east end f the transitin area and head right n Geiger and head twards the back gate. Turn right n Paul B. Jhnsn Rad which will g thrugh the camp grund until yu cme t the end where there will be turn arund. That is the 1 mile marker. Yu will head back the way yu came and then turn left nt Geiger Lake rd. When yu pass by the Transitin area yu are at the 2 mile mark. Stay n this rad crssing the spillway. Right after the spillway there is a turn arund which will be the 3 mile mark. Then yu head back t the transitin area where the finish line will be waiting n yu
