2 Meet the Coaches Head Coach Kevin Jackson Kevin Jackson begins his second season as the coordinator of men s and women s cross country. He also serves as the coordinator of men s and women s indoor and outdoor track and field at RIC, a position he s held since the campaign. Jackson had previously served as the head coach of boys indoor and outdoor track and field at Pilgrim High School in Warwick since Prior to taking the job at Pilgrim, Jackson was the head coach of boys cross country and an assistant coach of boys indoor and outdoor track and field at Hope High School from Under his tutelage, Hope won six consecutive cross country titles and he coached a New England Champion (Wayne Newsom) and an All-American (Erik Clinton). He was named the Rhode Island Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year in 1989, 1992 and He was the President of the Rhode Island Track and Field Coaches Association from He is the founder and President of the Providence Cobras Youth Track and Field Team. This self-supporting youth program, which started in 1978, works with inner city youth in developing track and field skills. In addition to his duties at RIC, Jackson is the educational coordinator for the Whitmarsh Corporation. He is also a Providence City Councilman. He earned his bachelor s degree in social welfare/psychology from Rhode Island College in A native of Warwick, he currently resides in Providence, Rhode Island. Assistant Coach Jamey Vetelino Jamey Vetelino begins his second season as the assistant men s and women s cross country coach at Rhode Island College. He serves in the same capacity for RIC s indoor and outdoor track and field programs. He is a 1998 graduate of Brown University. He ran cross country, indoor track and outdoor track for the Bears from Vetelino was an All-American in the distance medley relay event during the indoor track season as a junior in He earned four First Team All-Ivy League honors in distance medley relay and 4 x 800 meter relay events during his collegiate career. He earned Second Team All-Ivy honors in the mile during the indoor season and the 1,500 meters during the outdoor campaign in He earned Second Team All-Ivy League honors during the cross country season in Vetelino earned a bachelor s degree in human biology in In addition to his coaching duties, Vetelino is a Sales Representative for the Washington Trust Company. He is single and resides in Westerly, Rhode Island. 49

Andrew Neil 5-10, 150, Freshman Warwick, RI (Pilgrim) High School: Earned All-Division honor s w hile at Pilgrim High School gr aduate...earned the team s MVP and Coaches Awards. He will wor k his way through the system and be one of the build ing blocks for the pro g r a m s future. Joe Parenteau 5-10, 140, Junior Smithfield, RI (Smithfield) Sophomore Year (2002): Finished 60th with a career-best time of 26:22, the 11th fastest time in RIC history, at the N.E. Div. III Championships...he placed 25th at the ECAC championships with a time of 28:02...finished 24th at the Alliance Championships with a time of 27:47...placed fifth at the Roger Williams Invitational with a time of 28:41...now owns five of the top 50 times in RIC history.
