2 Welcome to the Neuse River Bridge Run! Sat., October 20, 2012 ARRIVAL TIME Arrive at New Bern Riverfront Convention Center between 5:30-6:30am if you re registering for any race. If you re running the half marathon arrive at 6:00am, no later than 6:15am if you re doing the 10K, or 7:00am if you re doing the 5K. If you ve registered but haven t already picked up your race packet and goody bag, report to the pre-registration area in the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. PARKING will be available in and around downtown New Bern. All participants should allow for walking time to Union Point Park. NO PARKING IS ALLOWED IN UNION POINT PARK ON RACE DAY. Event parking is located at a lot across from Comfort Suites (next to Union Point Park) and beside The Galley Store, both accessible from East Front Street, and marked with sign. is also available in both of the New Bern (Broad St.) Bridge Point Hotel & Marina (across the Alfred A. Cunningham bridge), and in municipal lots throughout the downtown area. COURSE Park. Listen for announcements to be escorted to the start line for your event. The half marathon starts at 7:00am outside of Union Point Park. Courses are well-marked and course monitors will be posted at each turn. REVIEW COURSE MAPS IN RACE PACKET. Mile markers will be placed on each course. As routes overlap, please look for the appropriate marker for your race: Mile markers for the half marathon have the GREEN Carolina East Half Marathon logo; mile markers for the 10K route have the BLUE Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC 10K logo; and the markers for the 5K route have the YELLOW WCTI FOX 5K logo. Please take a moment to study your race route before your run to ensure you will follow the correct course. The routes are contained herein and will be posted at the Baggage Storage area in the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center the morning of the race. We will have signage and volunteers assisting in directing you during the race, but ultimately you are responsible for following the correct route. CHIP TIMING IS AVAILABLE FOR BOTH RUNNERS AND WALKERS using the ChronoTrack timing system. Chips have been attached to your bib and must be present at all times to ensure accurate timing. Do NOT fold or bend chip (strip) on the back of your bib. BATHROOM FACILITIES Bathroom facilities are available at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center, and Union Point Park. Port-o- COFFEE Several local coffee shops will be open at 6:00am and 7:00am. The Galley Store (at the intersection of Broad and East Front Street) and the Trent River Coffee Shop (located on Craven Street) will open at 6:00am, and Port City Java (located near the corner of Middle and Broad Streets) opens at 7:00am.

3 ID CHECK partake must be 21 or older. A photo ID with birthdate is required to receive an armband. Racers receive complimentary beverages and food. Guests are $10 each for Friday and Saturday activities. RAFFLE TICKETS, HATS, AND T-SHIRT SALES of the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. Tickets are $5 each, or 3 for $10. The prizes include items such as RACE START Participants will walk independently to their start lines. Listen for announcements in the park to and convention center to go to your start line. DO NOT BEGIN WALKING TO THE 5K START UNTIL TOLD TO DO SO. WATER STATIONS BAGGAGE AREA Runners only. A table will be set up inside the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center s coat closet. Runners will for lost, stolen, or damaged items. Place your photo ID with your car keys in the runners baggage and storage. SAFETY No baby strollers, joggers, bicycles, or animals allowed on the bridge. Please do not run with your dog, cat, pig or any other non-human Wheelchair participants will start approximately 10 minutes prior to the other participants. BE ALERT FOR headsets during the race. AWARDS CEREMONY All runners must be chip-timed to be eligible for an award. Awards will be given to the top 3 overall 5K, 10K, and under 15, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. Award ceremony will take place at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center beginning at 10:00am. Awards cannot be mailed. SUPER KIDS FUN RUN Super Kids Fun Run--This event will take place in Union Point Park on Friday, October 19 at approximately 5:30 pm and is open to kids 10 and under. Children must be registered to participate and should report to the warm-up area outside the convention center near the bridge at 5:15pm. Kids will warm-up here and be escorted by race RUNNERS CELEBRATION All runners, paid-in-advance guests, and volunteers are invited to celebrate the runners accomplishments after the awards ceremony on the Trent River waterfront and inside the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center Union. 4 Look for race volunteers in and around Union Point Park and the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center (They are wearing safety vests), or visit the VOLUNTEER table inside the convention center for assistance. No matter how hard we try, there are a few of you who will not approve of the way we have done things. Your suggestions are welcome! Please do not pick on the event volunteers. They are unpaid help who have been here since before 6:00 am, and we have not even let them take a bathroom break! There will be a post-race survey on the event website at We will be glad (well, not really glad, but it s important) to hear your complaint.
