5 Classification procedure Unconfirmed classifications are now posted on the wall by the entrance in the briefing room. Final classification results will be posted at the Recovery Area before the end of the specific races, according to the ITU Competition Rules at: Elite paratriathon: 18:15 Open paratriathlon: 19:00 Any post race classifications (if needed) will take place at the classification room in the Metodiq. 6 Waiting list procedure Immediately after the briefing, if necessary A wait list exists for this event. Start list athletes who are not present at the athletes briefing, and who have not informed the TD of their absence, will be immediately replaced with the first athlete of the wait list. Athletes on the wait list must be present at the briefing in case they can be moved onto the start list. Remaining wait listed athletes can participate in the open paratriathlon race if not registered in this race already. Please inform the Race Referee.

14 Check-In Procedures Athletes Lounge Come with your registered Handler/Guide Handler vest and race number check Bike check Uniform check Equipment check & marking (braces, tethers, etc.) Swim cap distribution - colour according to your swim exit needs Body decals Timing chip Note: approved impairment adaptations for bike available at Wave number written on left hand Registration of equipment for pre-transition area Leave bags in the Athletes Lounge, they will be transferred to Recovery Area

15 Equipment movements Athletes lounge Leave all items in a rucksack/bag make sure that you have your race number on it, in the Athlete Lounge. These will be moved by Technical Officials and volunteers onto the water taxi s and transferred to the Recovery Area at the Finish Area. Transition zone 1 Any ITU approved Personal Handlers will be responsible for moving their athlete s equipment by water taxi. Other equipment such as wetsuits for other athletes will be placed in numbered bags and again will transferred to the Recovery Area by the LOC. Please report to the race referee if you need any equipment (prosthesis/ crutches) to be moved from pre-transition/ TZ1 to TZ2. IF NOT ALL YOUR REMAINING EQUIPMENT WILL GO TO RECOVERY AREA. Your coach can move this equipment to TZ2 as well.

17 Timing Chips Where to Wear PT1: 2 - (1 on handcycle and 1 on race w/c front section of equipment) PT2: 2 - (1 on each leg/prosthesis) PT3, PT4: (1 on Athlete ankle) PT5: 2 (1 on Athlete ankle, 1 on Guide ankle)

18 Allow Equipment - Uniform Swim Leg and arm covers are allowed Wetsuits up to 5mm thickness Vest warmers are NOT allowed Gloves are NOT permitted Any part of the body may be covered except the face, hands and feet No prosthesis socks, unless the pins are adequately covered. This will be checked PT5 B1 athletes must wear during the swim

19 Allow Equipment - Uniform Bike & Run Athletes can wear long sleeved shirt under their uniform it must be worn for the entire event Arm warmers can be worn and can be removed during the event BUT only in Transition. Do not remove during the race and hand to someone else. This will lead to DSQ PT5 B1 athletes must wear on both bike and run If you prefer to wear a jacket during the event, it must be or national federation kit.

20 Transition Area A chair will be provided for each of the athletes (except PT1) To add anything to the bike, approval is to be obtained from the Race Referee at the end of the Athletes Briefing Only Athletes and their Handlers will be allowed into the transitions Running shoes on the ground, helmet on the bike Do not leave your helmet strap fastened in the transition Athletes who do not comply with this rule will receive a 10 second time penalty in TA1

21 The Course Swim 1 Lap of 750m Bike 3.6km from TZ1 across Erasmus Bridge + 4 laps of 4km = 19.6km Run 485m + 2 laps of 1.922km + 711m

22 Pre-Start Procedure Athletes Introduction 10 minutes before the start, line up next to pontoon. Order will be wave number, then category, then race number. Move to the swim start pontoon when you are introduced by using the left hand side bridge. Officials can take your prosthesis, crutches, etc. to pretransition. Select your position and sit on the pontoon. Please remain there until instructed to enter the water.

24 Pre-Start Procedure Wave Starts Staggered start to accommodate varying levels of ability for the PT5 category. Each wave will start at an exact time. Please follow instructions promptly

26 False Start Procedure False start with many athletes: Several air horn blasts Kayaks in front of you Everyone goes back to his or her original start spot Valid start but with early starters: If someone starts before the horn and every one else starts with the horn, the false starter will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in T1 During the time penalty the athlete cannot touch any race equipment

27 Swim course

28 PT5 Swim Conduct Drawing not to scale Each athlete must be tethered to their own guide during the swim. At no time may a guide lead or pace the competitor nor propel them forward by pulling or pushing. The guide must swim next to the athlete within a maximum separation distance of 1.5m from the athlete s head to the. The tether should be elastic rope with bright or reflective colour and up to 1m long measured with no tension. It can be fixed at any point of the athletes' body. head can be at any point with the two red hemispheres next to the athlete, as shown above, if outside these areas, it will be considered as a violation.

29 Swim Exit Handling

30 Swim Exit Handling Swim exit handling only by the LOC Handlers. They will provide support to all athletes according to their swim cap s colour. No Personal Handlers allowed to assist at Swim Exit.

31 Pre-transition Athletes registered equipment (prosthesis, crutches, day chairs) Folding chairs for wetsuit removal Athletes from PT5 are not allowed to use the pretransition area Only PT1 Handlers are allowed in this area PT1 athletes must transfer to a daily wheelchair from pre-transition to transition No wetsuit removal by TOs and volunteers at bike check & returned to Athletes Lounge

32 Pre-transition to Transition A White Line is drawn on the ground at the point where the bridge starts and ends, PT1 Handlers may push athletes from Start of the bridge up the ramp.

36 Bike Course 3.6km from T1 across the Erasmus Bridge, then 4 laps of 4km = 19.6km Flat and very technical, with two U-turns each lap Draft illegal race Bike penalty box located just on the straight of Willemskade on the left hand side Always ride on the right, pass on the left Warn the athlete you want to pass 1 Wheel Station team and neutral wheels on Parklaan, just after the turn for Westmaaslaan left hand side. 42 Wheel station handlers presence Due to the logistics of this event, one accredited coach per NF for the athletes who are allowed to have a handler, can be present to the wheel station, until the personal handler has arrived back to T2 from T1. After this time, the coach has to leave the wheel station, if not, it will be considered as outside assistance. Personal handlers should inform the Chief Transition 2 for moving to the wheel station

53 Run Penalty Box ONLY FOR ELTE PARA Penalty box is for infringements in: T1, T2 and Run e.g.: mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, equipment outside your box, rack the bike outside your own area, guide leading the athlete, etc. Location: At the loop turn- around Information: White board to show race numbers (Athletes need to read the board) Procedure: 10 second time penalty served on any lap of the run If you do not stop, it will result in a DSQ

54 Post Race Procedures Photo-finish No congestion in the finish area: go to mixed zone/recovery area Anti-Doping Control Photo ID is needed for every athlete to go for testing Team Medical Access Team medical will be allowed to enter the medical tent after permission from the ITU Medical Delegate Every NF can have 1 team medical accreditation. Team doctors should register with the ITU Medical Delegate

55 Post Race Procedures For awards, dress up with race uniform (or country clothes) Ambush marketing rules apply Race caps/visors are allowed at the podium with maximum 1 sponsor logo with maximum height 4cm & total area 20cm² Presentation at 19:00 for the Elite para at the venue and 20:30 for the Open para on the Spido boat (Closing ceremony)

56 Coaches Areas Coaches accreditation will be distributed to those coaches whose national federations registered them through the online system They will have access to: Athletes Lounge Entrance to Pontoon Next to T1 Wheel Station Area Next to T2 Recovery Area

57 Handler s Notes Personal handers are specifically allowed to assist paratriathletes by: Helping with prosthetic devices/assistive devices Lifting the participants in and out of handcycles and wheelchairs Removing wetsuits or clothing Repairing flats, punctures and helping with other equipment All handlers shall be subjected to the ITU Competition Rules Any action taken by the Handler which propels the competitor forward may at the discretion of the Race Referee, be grounds for a time penalty or disqualification Personal handlers can only assist with their athlete ITU has to approve the need of handlers for the PT2, PT3 and PT4 athletes
