10 Handler Information No Personal Handlers for athletes PT2, PT3 & PT4 as per Rule 17.6 b) i) unless you have received written approval from ITU For this race, there are no PT2, PT3 or PT4 athletes with approved handlers Personal Handlers are specifically allowed to assist Paratriathletes by: Helping with prosthetic devices/assistive devices Lifting the athletes in and out of handcycles and wheelchairs Removing wetsuits or clothing Repairing flats, punctures and helping with other equipment All handlers shall be subject to the ITU Competition Rules Any action taken by the handler which propels the competitor forward may at the discretion of the RR, be grounds for a time penalty or DSQ Personal handlers can only assist their athlete

11 Check-In Procedures Athletes Lounge Come with your registered Handler/Guide Handler yellow t-shirt and race number check Bike check Uniform check Equipment check & marking (braces, tethers, etc.) Swim cap check according to your swim exit needs Body decals Timing chip Note: approved impairment adaptations for bike available at Wave number written on left hand Registration of equipment for pre-transition area Registration of spare wheels for wheel station Leave bags in the Athletes Lounge, they will be transferred to Recovery

12 Swim Cap Colours PT1 PT2/PT3/PT4 or PT5 ATHLETE PT5 GUIDE -

13 Allow Equipment - Uniform Swim Leg and arm covers are allowed Wetsuits up to 5mm thickness Vest warmers are NOT allowed Gloves are NOT permitted Any part of the body maybe covered except the face, hands and feet No prothesis socks, unless the pins are adequately covered. This will be checked

14 Allow Equipment - Uniform Run & Bike Athletes can wear long sleeved shirt under their uniform it must be worn for the entire event Athletes will not be able to remove the shirt at any time during the event Arm warmers can be worn and can be removed during the event BUT only in Transition. Do not remove during the race and hand to someone else. This will lead to DSQ PT5 B1 athletes must wear on the run If you prefer to wear a jacket during the event, it must be

15 Transition Area A chair will be provided for each of the athletes To add anything to the bike, approval is to be obtained from the TD at the end of the Athletes Briefing Only Athletes and their Handlers will be allowed into the transitions Running shoes on the ground, helmet on the bike Do not leave your helmet fastened in the transition Athlete who does not comply with this rule will receive a 10 second time penalty in TA1 Spare wheels collected at bike check and returned to Athletes Lounge after the race

16 The Course Swim 1 Lap of 750m Bike 4 Laps of 4.9km = 19.6km Run PT1: 1 lap of 5km PT2/PT3/PT4/PT5: 3 laps of 1.64km = 4.92km

17 Pre-Start Procedure Athletes Introduction 10 minutes before your start, line up before entrance to pontoon Order will be wave number, then category, then race number Move to the swim start pontoon when you are introduced Personal handlers may escort you to the start and then take your prosthesis, crutches, etc. to pretransition Select your position and sit on the pontoon. Please

18 Pre-Start Procedure Waves Starts New staggered start to accommodate varying levels of ability for the PT5 category Each wave will start at an exact time Please follow instructions promptly

19 Start Procedures for Waves Athletes in position in the water: Deep water start One hand on the pontoon The start can be given any time after the Starter announces On your mark Air horn blasts The race starts

20 False Start Procedure False start with many athletes: Several air horn blasts Kayaks in front of you Everyone goes back to his or her original start spot Valid start but with early starters: If someone starts before the horn and every one else starts with the horn, the false starter will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1 During the time penalty the athlete cannot touch any race equipment

25 Swim Exit Handling Swim exit handling only by the LOC Handlers. They will provide support to all athletes according to their swim cap colour. No Personal Handlers allowed to assist at Swim Exit.

26 Pre-transition Athletes registered equipment (prosthesis, crutches, day chairs) Folding chairs for wetsuit removal Athletes from PT5 are not allowed to use the pretransition area Only PT1 Handlers are allowed in this area No wetsuit removal by TOs and volunteers at bike check & returned to Athletes Lounge

28 Transition Individual bike racks Name, number, country code and flag All used equipment goes into your area Failure to do so = 10 second penalty on run Mount line at the end of the TA (GREEN LINE) Dismount line at the beginning of TA (RED LINE) PT1 shall stop completely at mount and dismount lines PT2-5 must dismount before the dismount line Helmet MUST be fastened before un-racking bike Personal Handlers moving to the Wheel Stop should inform the TOs that they are going there Bibs facing backwards during bike PT1 athletes must put the bib on the hand cycle

33 Bike Draft Zones Legal distance: 10m between bikes (from front wheel to their front wheel) Maximum 20 seconds allowed to pass New rule for drafting offence In case of penalty, stop at the Penalty Box 1 minute Not stopping or second drafting offence DSQ It is the athletes responsibility to stop at the Penalty Box numbers not posted on board

38 Run Penalty Box Penalty box is for infringements in: TA1, Bike, TA2 and Run e.g.: mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, equipment outside your box, rack the bike outside your own area, guide leading the athlete, etc. Location: Before entering the finish chute Information: White board to show race numbers (Athletes need to read the board) Procedure: 10 second time penalty served on any lap of the run If you do not stop, it will result in a DSQ

39 Handlers Direction after TA2 Remove all your athlete s equipment from Transition Proceed to finish line via Recovery area, off the FOP Do not go down the finish chute Store bikes at Recovery while you await your athlete to finish

40 Post Race Procedures Photo-finish No congestion in the finish area: go to mixed zone/recovery area Anti-Doping Control Photo ID is needed for every athlete to go for testing Team Medical Access Team medical will be allowed to enter the medical tent after permission from the ITU Medical Delegate Every NF can have 1 team medical accreditation. Team doctors should register with the ITU Medical Delegate

41 Post Race Procedures For awards, dress up with race uniform (or country clothes) Ambush marketing rules apply Race caps/visors are allowed at the podium with maximum 1 sponsor logo with maximum height 4cm & total area 20cm² Presentation at 15:30

42 Ambush Marketing Rule Ambush marketing is defined as: Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and media photographers to acquire additional exposure for your sponsor product, apparel or brand. The consequence for this behaviour is that the athlete will immediately forfeit their prize money for that event, if any Please follow the ambush marketing rule
