2 Welcome! We hope you will join us for the 2015 Summer Sailing Program at Pewaukee Lake Sailing School. We have a great staff lined up for the summer and we re excited for everyone to be back around to see what improvements we have made! Mark your Calendar Important Dates! June 1, 5pm: Deadline to RSVP for the Summer Program Kick-Off Night June 5, 6pm: Cheeseburger in Paradise/Kick-Off Night at PYC June 13: Opti Check-In Day, drop off personally owned boats and get all of the parts checked over, and move into assigned spot. June 15: First Day of PLSS Summer Sailing Program, Clothing Pick-Up, Class Pictures in PLSS shirts June 25-26: No Classes due to MC Nationals June 29: Family Fun Night #1 Fun races right off the dock, B.Y.O. BBQ After with Gutter-boat Races and Volleyball July 13: Family Fun Night #2 Fun races right off the dock, B.Y.O. BBQ and Kids Talent Show After Sailing August 1: Last Day to RSVP for Summer Sailing Awards Banquet, 5pm. August 6: Last Day of Summer Sailing August 11: Summer Sailing Awards Banquet *All Families are encouraged to come on down and sail for Family Fun Nights! All Fleets will be sailing right off of the dock for some fun races!

3 PLSS Summer Program Class Descriptions Non-Racing Classes Kinderprams Age: 5-6 Year Olds Cost: $220 Day/Time: Fridays, 9am-Noon June 19-July 31 *No Class June 26 The Kinderpram Class at PLSS is targeted at teaching young sailors the following: Familiarity and Discipline around the sailing school and the lake, Personal Safety, Sailing and Seamanship Skills (Power-boating, Wind, Knot tying, Rigging and Parts of the Boat, Docking and Securing a boat, and Caring for the environment), and most of all Fun! Beginning Optis Age: 7-12 Year Olds Cost: $300/session or $550 for Full Summer Day/Time: AM Session: 9am-12pm, M-Th PM Session: 1-4pm, M-Th Session I: June 15-July 2 Session II: July 6-23 Adult Beginning Sailing Classes The Beginning Opti Program at PLSS will teach your sailor everything they need to know about navigating their opti around Pewaukee Lake on their own, including the following: Familiarity around the sailing school and the lake, Personal Safety, Knots, Rigging, Capsizing, How to read Wind Direction, Different Points of Sail, Avoiding Collisions, and very basic rules of sailing and racing. Age: 19+ Cost: $100/session Day/Time: T/Th, 5:30-8pm Session 1: July 7-16 Session 2: July Session 3: Aug 4-13 This Class is targeted to teaching adults how to sail in a safe and comfortable Environment. Students will be sailing in Flying Scots, provided by PLSS. Sailors will learn the basic skills of personal safety, knots, rigging, skippering, and crewing as a team, learning about different points of sail, and avoiding collisions. MAX 6 Students Per Class.

4 Opti Racing Intermediate Optis (Green Fleet) Age: 8-12 Year Olds Cost: $300 per session or $550 for Full Summer Day/Time: M-Th, 9am-Noon Session 1: June 15-July 2 Session 2: July 6- July 23 The Intermediate Opti Program at PLSS is geared toward that sailor who is excited to learn more about the sport and to take their knowledge to the next level. In addition to a review of all of the objectives listed in Beginning Optis, Intermediate Optis will get a more in depth look at Racing: specifically rules, signal flags, tactics and courses. They will also be introduced to more intermediate boat handling techniques in order to prepare them for Opti Racing. Advanced Racing Age: 8-13 Year Olds Cost: $595 Day/Time: M-Th, 9am-Noon, Fridays, Lake Country Optis June 15-August 7 The Advanced Racing Opti class is about developing our young sailors into better racers. The physical aspect comes into play a bit more than in other classes, with short, fun daily workouts that get our sailors in tip-top shape for a physically demanding sport. Sailors will start to learn drills that help their boat handling and rules knowledge develop even further. Sailors are encouraged to attend local and regional events, including Friday afternoon Lake Country Optis which will travel throughout the area, The 2015 ILYA Opti Championship at Lake Beulah, and the red, white and blue chip on Lac Labelle.

5 X-Boat Classes Beginning X-Boat Class Age: Cost: $595 Day/Time: M-Th, 1pm-4pm The Beginning X-Boat Class is targeted to sailors who are interested in learning to sail a two-person boat. Sailors will be learning basic boat handling techniques, as well as all of the skills they will need to start competing in various levels of local and regional regattas. Sailors need to provide their own boats and equipment. X-Boat Racing Age: Cost: $595 Day/Time: M-Th, 1pm-4pm This X-Boat Class will Review and introduce all of the aspects needed to be a successful racer. A more in-depth look at the Racing Rules of Sailing along with tactics and boat handling will be taught to X-Boat racers. Sailors need to provide their own boats and equipment. Participation in all ILYA events is encouraged, as well as all Local and Regional Regattas. C420 Sailing Beginning C420 Age: Cost: $200 Day/Time: M-Th, 9am-12pm 3 sessions Session 1: June Session 2: June 29-July 9 Session 3: July Full Summer: $550 The Beginning C420 Program is targeted to teenagers interested in getting out on the water and learning about sailing in a social and fun atmosphere. Sailors will learn the basic skills of personal safety, knots, rigging, capsizing, skippering and crewing as a team, learning about different points of sail, and avoiding collisions. Sailed in the PLSS owned fleet of 2-person C420 s, all boat charters are included in the cost of class.
