This year promises to be very active as well. Here are just a few of the events we have cooked up for COMMODORE S BALL January 12 th, Annual installation banquet & blow-out party. LOCKS PICNIC & CHILI COOK-OFF February 23 rd, Fine tune your chili recipes! NETTLES ISLAND CRUISE April th, Fabulous time & turnout last year! NEW CRUISE DESTINATIONS Jensen Bch Causeway & WPB/Peanut Island added. WEST MARINE GREEN FLASH TROPHY COMPETITION NEW THIS YEAR, we ve partnered with West Marine to give periodic awards to the fastest boat in a number of classes. Cool perpetual trophy, too. Stay tuned for details... FULL MOON RAFT UPS We ll be trying a few of these unique moonlit gatherings. RACING AND SOCIAL CALENDAR Mike and Linda have too many events to list, but count on 12 Pack races, monthly trophy races, ocean races with FPYC, S&M, and holiday parties. Adrienne has posted the full 2019 calendar on the web site. Check it out for a complete rundown of activities. Details will be added as we go along. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! - Joe Sawyer, SLSC Commodore 1
2 Racing Scuttlebutt Mike Brescher The COMMODORE S CUP Regatta was sailed on December 15th in the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. The forecast was for 60% rain and NW. We had a good turnout and the rain held off until the race had ended and the wind was calm to none. It was a basic drifting match but first four boats were able to sail and change positions at each mark keeping the race still exciting and fun. A great day to finish the year s racing. The Finishers: Cruising J&M Fleet are: 1st SLOOP JOHN B 2nd WHISPER 3rd FREEDOM 4th MY WEIGH 5th WILD RICE 6th SALTY DOGS with Mike Diamond with Larry Bryant with Carolyn Zytaruk with Jack Molinelli with Richard Rice with Steve Weinstein at 1hr. 59 min. at 2hr. 05 min. at 2hr. 10 min. at 2hr. 10 min. had a DNF had a DNF 57 sec. 38 sec. 05 sec. 22 sec. The Perpetual Commodore Cup Trophy was presented by Asta Poirier and Richard Rice to Mike Diamond for SLOOP JOHN B. Now get ready to have more fun next year, starting with the Herb Carey/Chuck Read Regatta on January 19,
3 12-Pack Update Raced December 1, Mike Diamond The last 12 Pack race for 2018 was on December 1st. We had a stiff breeze out of the South and five participants. Freedom was fast from start to finish. Whisper started last and finished as a strong second. Sloop John B and Wild Rice reached the #1 mark at the same time, but Sloop John B was able to finish ahead of Wild Rice. My Weigh sailed through the anchorage north of the Deck, but had an unknown problem and did not finish. It was a great day to finish our 12 Pack series, but a little too windy to raft up. Order of finish: Freedom, Whisper, Sloop John B, Wild Rice, My Weigh I d like to request that everyone synch their watches with Time.Gov the night before our 12 Pack races, so we re all on the same time, since we do handicapped starts. We awarded trophies for the 12 Pack Racing Series at the club meeting on 12/3/18. The club had 14 different boats participate in a '12 Pack' race during st Place - Wild Rice (with 23 points) - Full Sail Trophy Case (variety 12 pack) 2nd Place - Sloop John B (with 25 points) - 6 pack of Full Sail Amber Ale 3rd Place - Whisper (with 34 points) - 6 pack of Full Sail Premium Lager Full Sail Brewing, the Official Beer of the SLSC 12 Pack Racing Series! 3

6 Two Videos to Assist with SLSC Matchup Our Club s Matchup Google spreadsheet has helped many Crew members connect with Skippers to get a ride on boats for the upcoming weekend. But did you know that Members can also use it to * Connect with a cruising Captain to go for a leisurely sail during the week. * See which boats are competing this weekend. * Check your competition s accumulated score on the monthly 12 Pack race. * Learn the details and boat ride availability for upcoming cruises. If you don t use it, you are missing the benefits of this valuable resource. So, here are 2 videos to help you get the most out of SLSC Matchup 1. How to Access the Spreadsheet 2. How to Use It If you have questions, please contact Mynders Glover at SLSCmatchup@gmail.com 6
