1 As salaam alaikum everyone! 3/17 Class Summary Intro to JF Mashaa Allah today, we got an introduction to the Jumlah Filiyyah (fil based sentence) today! Quiz Inshaa Allah we'll have a short quiz on the information we covered today. The quiz will be assigned on Friday and will be due on Sunday inshaa Allah. It is designed to take minutes to complete :) Also, please note that the Edmodo software has some limitations. Unfortunately the quiz can not be unlocked for individual students once the due date is past. This means there is no way to make up missed quizzes. If you are unable to take one or two quizzes it shouldn't affect your score in the class, so don't worry about it, just plan to submit the upcoming ones inshaa Allah. Textbook pages (6 questions) Workbook Page 24 Brief Summary: Today we did more practice with the fil and we also learned about the Jumlah Filiyyah A jumlah filliyah is a sentence that involves a fil (any fil). There are four parts in a JF 1) Fil ف ع ل 2) Faa'il (doer, in the raf status) فاع ل م فعول status) 3) Mafool (Details, in the nasb ب الف ع ل fragment) 4) MBF (Jarr majroor متعل ق

2 A JF must have a fil and a faa'il. Mafool and MBF are optional. The above shows the normal order of a JF, however sometimes the order can change. We also looked at outside doers today. Outside doers are doers which are not pronouns. For example: Muhammed went to the store The boys ate a cake. Maryam and Ahmed studied Arabic. A cat jumped into that window. The rules for the outside doer are: 1) The outside doer should be AFTER the fil. 2) The outside doer should be in the raf status. 3) The fil should be in the هو or هي form. Let's look at some examples: ذه ب he went she went ذه بت Examples: ذه مح مد ب Muhammed went went. Maryam ذه م بت ري went. Muslim women ذه بت مسل مات محمد و ذه الم سل م ون ب Muhammed and the Muslims went. إ ىل المسج د ذه الم سل م ون ب The Muslims went to the masjid إ ىل ذه الم سل م ون المسج د ب The Muslims went to the masjid

3 All of the previous examples have outside doers. If the outside doer is feminine then the هي fil will be used. If it is masculine then the هو fil will be used. The outside doer can be singular, pair or plural. The outside doer does not have to come directly after the fil, as we see in the last example. We put it all together with the color coded examples (attached) as well as examples on page of the textbook. Also, yesterday we completed the pronoun notes on page 33. They are below for your reference 1) An independent pronoun is always in the raf status 2) An attached pronoun is nasb in two cases: i: attached to a harf of nasb ii. attached to a fi'l (mafool/detail of the fi'l) 3) An attached pronoun is jarr in two cases: i: attached to an ism (mudhaf ilayhi) ii. attached to a harf of jarr Inshaa Allah next week we will continue doing practice on the JF.
