2. Using the Boat The boat is controlled using a single Remote Controller designed by based on several expert fishermen suggestions and feedback. This RC has the Fish Finder screen incorporated allowing the fisher to fish more comfortable. The Carpio 2.0 has 3 modes of operation: Manual, Auto and AutoGps. The Status Screen is as follows 1- GPS Status. It can indicate GPS Activated or GPS Activated. Waiting for Satellites... when the module detected less than 6 satellites. 2- Current boat mode: Norm (manual), AUTO or GPSn where n is the chosen memory position 3- The quantity of satellites that are detected by the boat s GPS 4- RC battery indicator 5- Boat battery indicator 6- Communication status between the Boat and the RC 7- Channel being used 8- Distance from the boat to the marked destination. 4

There are some keys that work in toggle mode. One push to enable it, another to disable it. The RC has two HOPPER keys, one push to open the hopper, another push to close it. The HOOK key will release or retrieve the hook. The LIGHT key will turn on or off the boats light. 2.1 Manual Mode The Manual mode is when the user operates the boat using the joystick making the boat sail to where he wants, varying its speed and direction using a single joystick. Having a single joystick allows the fisher to have a free hand; therefore he can for example hold his fishing rod with it. The RC has a SPEED button that will increase the boat speed allowing the boat to sail faster to our desired destination Auto Mode In this mode the boat will maintain its course and constant speed. This is very useful and comfortable when we want to send the boat to a specific location that is straight ahead the boat s heading. To enter this mode you have to push the AUTO key and the boat will sail automatically maintaining its heading until we press AUTO key again to return to normal mode. Important: this mode is only available on boats that have included the magnetic compass. 1 The high speed mode disables the Fish Finder temporally. 5

2.3 AutoGPS Mode In this mode the boat will sail automatically to a predefined destination. This is very useful when we have some preferred and predefined locations where to bait and fish. This mode will be enabled only when the boat s GPS has read enough satellites, this task can take some time depending on how much time has passed since the boat was turned on and with proper GPS signal not interfered by landscape obstacles. To enter this mode we have to push the GPS button. Once in the AutoGPS menu we will see a screen like the one of the figure 9- Selected destination memory. 0 is the origin, 1 to 8 are common destinations 10- Memory map. A slash - indicates an empty memory slot. A visible number indicates a stored memory. 11- Current distance from the boat to the selected memory Use this GPS button to move from one memory to the next. There are up to 9 memories available, the number 0 is reserved as origin or starting point, the memories 1 to 8 are used as boat destinations. This origin memory is quite important since is where the boat will return to when it losses communication with the RC. When one memory is stored and selected, the RC will display the current distance to the target position. Use SET key to store or delete the memory selected. The RC will store the current boat's GPS position. The stored position precision will depend on the GPS precision and the quantity of satellites detected at the moment of the storing procedure, typically the precision can vary from 1 to 3 meters. The display will also show the current distance between the boat and the pointed destination memory. If you decide to send the boat to a stored position, you have to move to the chosen position using the GPS key. Push the GO key to start the auto navigation. If the destination is closer than 400mts the boat will start auto sailing to the destination. Once the boat reaches its destination the RC will beep signaling the event. It is important to note that the compass calibration and compass offset are required for the boat to sail correctly. These calibrations are needed once in a while (it could be days or weeks) and it is done to reset the electronic magnetic components of the boat to a stable state. Use the compass calibration if you note that the boat sails erratically. Use the offset calibration to do minor adjustments in the boat's sailing route. Check the Configuration Menu in order to know how to do this. 6

3. Configuring the Boat The RC has a Configuration menu where the user can set several parameters of the bait boat and the GPS compass, these are the options 1- Motor Adjustment 2- Change Channel 3- Language-Idioma 4- Compass Calibrate 5- Compass Offset 6- Soft Version 7- Exit 3.1 Motor Adjustment This setting is used to increase or decrease each motor power. This is very useful to tune the small differences that some engines do have allowing the ship to sail on a straight line course. Once in the menu, the motor to be adjusted will be signaled using an asterisk * symbol. Using the (14) and (15) button will change the motor power. We will push Enter (12) to accept the setting. How to adjust it? The adjustment should be done on quiet waters or with very low water current. Move the joystick forward at slow speed and check if the boat drifts to the left or to the right, then adjust the corresponding motor. Repeat the process until the boat sails straight. Right motor has to be increased or left motor decreased Left motor has to be increased or right motor decreased 3.2 Change Channel We can choose between 40 channels. Use the UP and DOWN key to select the desired channel, then press ENTER to Accept. A confirmation dialog will show, use LEFT and RIGHT keys to choose YES or NO then ENTER to accept The boat must be turned on when changing the channel. 3.3 Language Idioma The user can choose between English or Spanish. 7

3.4 Compass - Calibrate This option is use to calibrate the electronic compass built-in in your bait boat. This process is necessary to adjust the boat for proper navigation in Auto and AutoGPS modes. After confirming the calibration the boat will start sailing in circles, 20 seconds to the left and 20 to de right. It is highly recommended to do this task on a clear area, without any visible obstacles. User can cancel the process at any time using ESC key. 3.5 Compass - Offset If during the AutoGPS mode, the boat reaches its target sailing through an imaginary semicircle route, then you should adjust this value to do minor adjustments. Important: This setting has to be done after having calibrated the compass! If the boat approaches the target point from the right, then you should increase the offset (+xx) If the boat approaches the target point from the left, then you should decrease the offset (-xx) Target Point Offset should be decreased Offset should be increased Start Point 3.6 Soft Version Enter this menu to know the software version of the RC and the boat. This will be useful to check if your boat has certain features that are available on specific software versions. 3.7 Exit To exit the configuration menu to the Main Menu 8

4. Fish Finder The Carpio 2.0 Fish Finder is integrated in the RC. This is very comfortable for the fisher and it improves the fishing experience. Screen Explanation 1. Depth: it shows the river depth in the boat s location 2. Temperature and Voltage Indicator: it shows the air, the water temperature or the battery of the Echo Sonar amplifier. The value shown depends on our selection 3. Sensitivity: it shows the sensitivity set for fish and obstacle detection 4. Water surface indicator This slashed line works as a reference of how deep the fishes are. In the image the depth 3.3mts is C distance. The a fish will be at A distance from the surface, and according to the 3.3mts scale it will be about 1,3mts. The b fish is a little deeper and at B distance from the surface and it will about 1.4mts. The number shown is the maximum depth sensitivity currently available. The underwater conditions vary very much; it is only a matter of experience and good judgment to take advantage of this tool. 5. Fish Icon: it is shown when a fish is detected 9

6. Floor: here the river floor conditions are shown 7. Maximum Range: Indicate the maximum depth range to measure The Fish Finder Echo Sonar adjusts the maximum range automatically according to the water conditions. On the below zone of the screen it is displayed the maximum depth set. These are the ranges: - In Feet: 10, 15, 30, 50, 60, 80, 100, 120 and In Meters: 3, 5, 10, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40. The information is updated from right to left; the most recent readings will be on the right side of the screen. When the Echo Sonar does an automatic change on its range, the new lines displayed will have a new scale which will be set to the new depth. These new lines will not match the same scale as the previous ones. This is a common behavior as the screen won t be redrawn. 8. Battery Indicator: shows the remaining battery of the Fish Finder Echo Sonar amplifier 4.1 Fish Finder Keyboard ON ENT MENU EXIT ON key Press this key to turn on the unit. In order to turn it off, you have to keep this key pressed for more than 3 seconds ENT key It is used to confirm a change or to freeze the screen when using it. parameter. 18 6. Boat s Maintenance 6.1. Keep the propellers clean. Check them often as they can have lines, water weed, plastic garbage and whatever that can interfere its normal rotation The boats with AutoGps have a RESCUE mode. If the boat looses communication with the RC it will return to the ORIGIN (memory 0) destination. It is important to store the memory 0 when starting a fishing journey It is not recommended to use the AutoGPS mode when the wind is blowing hard or the water current is too strong can produce problems with the auto routing Try to avoid sailing over water weed, plastic bags or organic waste, these can interfere with the propeller and damage its motor fuse. If this happen, replace the fuse with an identical spec one Lubricate the motors often with Lithium grease, this improves motor performance and prevents any water leak inside the boat trough the motor axis Keep the boat far from any device or building that can produce interference like power lines, buildings, radio stations, etc Take care and do not use the boat under adverse meteorological conditions such as rainy days, strong winds, high humidity, dense fog or on a too dark night 6.8. Do not leave the boat too much time exposed to the sun as the batteries can get damaged 6.9. Do not leave the RC too much time exposed to the sun as the display can get damaged Use the boat with care, in allowed places and far from places where it can harm people or animals. 7. FAQ Frequent Asked Questions Problem Probable cause Solution The RC beeps constantly Batteries are Low Charge the batteries The boat does not respond to the RC commands My boat sails sometimes controlled by me, sometimes does something different The motor works when the power switch is on, nevertheless the RC doesn t work The motors does not work or it works for some seconds and then it stops The RC and the Boat are on different channels There are two or more boats on the same channel The RC and the Boat are not on the same channel Batteries are Low Check how to change the RC channel on the RC section Change the channel. Check the RC section on this manual Check how to change the RC channel on the RC section Check the battery charge, the motor speed controller shuts the power down when the input power is below 5.5VDC. During operation the battery voltage can fluctuate due to the current consumption. Wait some time and try again at a very low speed. 18

Problem Probable cause Solution The charger s led is always RED, it does not turn Green Batteries are old Batteries are damaged In some cases, where the batteries are old, the voltage does not reach its full value or the charger doesn t detect that they are fully charged. If this is the case, charge them for 7 hours and use them normally the RC will If you charge the batteries for 7 hours and after having put them in the boat the RC indicates that the charge is below 90% then one or both batteries are damaged and should be replaced One of the engines stops working Damaged Fuse If something blocks or interferes with the propeller the motor would increase its current consumption and the fuse will get damaged. Check the fuse and replace it with an identical rate one. 19
