2 Merits of This is a Meccan sūrah. The surah that opens with the emphatic oath of the Divine One swearing by the looming day of RESURRECTION. It takes its name from verse 1, which mentions the Day of Resurrection. The surah dealing with the Day of Resurrection and man s denial of that Day. God s power is convincingly described in several vignettes (verse 3 verse 26 and verse 34). The third paragraph instructs the Prophet on appropriate reception of the revelation (verse 16), and thereby serves to emphasize that the Quran is indeed God s word. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) that the person who recites this surah will be counted from among those who believed in the Day of Judgement and his face will be shining when he is raised from his grave. It is also narrated that frequent reciters will be raised with handsome and attractive faces on the Day of Judgement. Recitation of this surah increases sustenance and protects the life and possessions of the reciter. He is liked by people. Surah al- Qiyamah also makes a person chaste, humble and sincere. Drinking water in which this surah has been written keeps the heart safe from ailments.

4 ب ش م الل ي الر ح الر ح م ن م In the Name of Allāh, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. غظیم اور دائمی رحمج ں هام صے کے والے خدا अल र ह क न भ स ज फड क ऩ र औय अत मन त दम व न ह bi-smi llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīmi
5 ك ام ة ل ا ل ش م ب م ال ١ I swear by the Day of Resurrection! رو ز میں لیامت کی لشم کھاثا ہ ں नह, भ क सभ ख त ह कक म भत क ददन क, lā ˈuqsimu bi-yawmi l-qiyāmati
6 ام ة ٢ و ل ا ل ش م ب الو ف س الل And I swear by the self-blaming soul! برائی ں اور پر مالمت والے کر هے هفس کی لشم کھاثا ہ ں औय नह! भ कसभ ख त ह भर भत कयन व र आत भ क wa-lā ˈuqsimu bi-n-nafsi l-lawwāmati
7 ٣ ا ح ش ب ا ل هش ان ا ج م ع ن ه ل ام ي غ ظ Does man suppose that We shall not put together his bones? کیا یہ اهشان یہ خیال کرثا ےہ کی اس کہ ہم ہڈی ں ک جمع هہ کرصکیں گے क म भन ष म मह सभझत ह कक हभ कद पऩ उसक हड डडम क एकत र न कय ग? ˈa-yaḥsabu l-ˈinsānu ˈal-lan naǧmaʿa ʿiẓāmahū
8 ٤ غ ل ل اد ر ن ب ل ش ي ب و اه ي ان ه Yes indeed, We are able to proportion [even] his fingertips! یكیوا ہم اس بات پر لادر ہیں کی اس کہ اهگلی ں کے پ ر ثک درصت کرصکیں क म नह, हभ उसक ऩ य क ठ क-ठ क कयन क स भर थमय यखत ह balā qādirīna ʿalā ˈan nusawwiya banānahū
9 ٥ م ام ي ر د ا ل هش ان ل ف ج ر ا ب و Rather man desires to go on living viciously. بلکہ اهشان یہ چاہجا ےہ کہ اپےن صامےن برائی کرثا چال جائے फल ल क भन ष म च हत ह कक अऩन आग दढठ ई कयत यह bal yurīdu l-ˈinsānu li-yafǧura ˈamāmahū
10 ك ام ة ان م ال ٦ ا ش ا ل He asks, When is this day of resurrection?! یہ وہ پ چھجا ےہ یہ کہ لیامت کب والی ےہ ا هے ऩछत ह, "आखख य कक म भत क ददन कफ आएग?" yasˈalu ˈayyāna yawmu l-qiyāmati
11 ٧ ب ص ر ف إ ذ ا ب ر ق ال But when the eyes are dazzled, ث جب ا هکھیں چکا چ هد ہ جائیں گی त जफ ननग ह च धधम ज एग, fa-ˈiḏā bariqa l-baṣaru
12 ٨ و خ م ر ك ش ف ال and the moon is eclipsed, اور چاهد ک گہن لگ جائے گا औय चन रभ क ग रहण रग ज एग, wa-ḫasafa l-qamaru
13 ٩ و ج م ر م ع الط م س و ال ك and the sun and the moon are brought together, اور یہ چاهد ص رج اک ٹھا کردیےئ جائیں گے औय समय औय चन रभ इकट ठ कय ददए ज ए ग, wa-ǧumiʿa š-šamsu wa-l-qamaru
14 ا ل هش ان م ئ ذ ا ن ال م ف ر ١٠ ك ل that day man will say, Where is the escape? اس دن اهشان کےہ بھاگےن کا اب گا کہ راصجہ کدھر ےہ उस ददन भन ष म कह ग, "कह ज ऊ ब गकय?" yaqūlu l-ˈinsānu yawmaˈiḏin ˈayna l-mafarru
15 ل و ز ر ١١ ه ال No indeed! There is no refuge! اب هہیں ہرگز ک ئی ٹھکاهہ هہیں ےہ क छ नह, क ई शयण-स थर नह! kallā lā wazara
16 م م إ ل ئ ذ ال م ش ج ك ر ١٢ ر ب That day the abode will be toward your Lord. مرکز کا اب صب ثمہارے پروردگار کی طرف ےہ उस ददन त म ह य यफ ह ओय ज कय ठहयन ह ˈilā rabbika yawmaˈiḏin-i l-mustaqarru
17 ١٣ و ب ا م و ا ل هش ان م ئ ذ ب م ا ل د ر ا خ That day man will be informed about what he has sent ahead and left behind. اس دن اهشان ک بجایا جائے گا کہ اس هے پہےل اور بػد کیا کیا اغمال کےئ ہیں उस ददन भन ष म क फत ददम ज एग ज क छ उसन आग फढ म औय ऩ छ ट र yunabbaˈu l-ˈinsānu yawmaˈiḏin bi-mā qaddama wa-ˈaḫḫara
18 ب و ا ل هش ان ه ف ش ي ب ص ر ة ١٤ غ ل Rather man is a witness to himself, بلکہ اهشان خ د بھی اپےن هفس کے حا لت صے خ ب باخبر ےہ नह, फल ल क भन ष म स वम अऩन ह र ऩय ननग ह यखत ह, bali l-ˈinsānu ʿalā nafsihī baṣīratun
19 ك م ػ و ل ا ل اذ ر ى ١٥ though he should offer his excuses. ک جےن ہی وہ چاےہ هہ کی ں غذر پیض کرے मद मपऩ उसन अऩन ककतन ह फह न ऩ श ककए ह wa-law ˈalqā maʿāḏīrahū
20 ل ث ح ر ك ب ي ل ش اه م ل ج ػ ج و ب ي ١٦ Do not move your tongue with it to hasten it. غجلت میں ثالوت کی لرا ن ا پ دیکھےئ کے صاثھ زبان ک حرکت هہ دیں त उस श घ र ऩ न क लरए उसक प रनत अऩन ज फ न क न चर lā tuḥarrik bihī lisānaka li-taʿǧala bihī
21 إ ن غ ل و ا ج م ػ ي و ل ر اه ي ١٧ Indeed it is up to Us to put it togetherand to recite it. یہ ہماری ذمہ داری ےہ کہ ہم اصے جمع کریں اور پڑھ ائیں हभ य ल ज म भ ह उस एकत र कयन औय उसक ऩढ न, ˈinna ʿalaynā ǧamʿahū wa-qurˈānahū
22 ب ع ل ر اه ي ف إ ذا ل ر اه اى فاث ١٨ And when We have recited it, follow its recitation. پھر جب ہم اپ پڑھ ادیں ث کی اس ثالوت ک دہرائیں अत जफ हभ उस ऩढ त उसक ऩठन क अन सयण कय, fa-ˈiḏā qaraˈnāhu fa-ttabiʿ qurˈānahū
23 و ا ب اه ي ١٩ ث م إ ن غ ل Then, its exposition indeed [also] lies with Us. کی بػد اس کے پھر اس وطاحت کرها بھی ہماری ہی ذمہ داری ےہ कपय हभ य ल ज म भ ह उसक स ऩष ट कयण कयन ṯumma ˈinna ʿalaynā bayānahū
24 ة ث ح ب ن ال ػ اج ل ٢٠ ب و ه ال No Indeed! Rather you love this transitory life بلکہ هہیں ثم ل گ دهیا ک دوصت رکھےت ہ क छ नह, फल ल क त भ र ग श घ र लभरन व र च ज (द ननम ) स प र भ यखत ह, kallā bal tuḥibbūna l-ʿāǧilata
25 خ ر ة ر ون ا ل ٢١ و ث ذ and forsake the Hereafter. ک ا خرت اور هظر اهداز کےئ ہ ئے ہ औय आखख यत क छ ड यह ह wa-taḏarūna l-ˈāḫirata
26 و ج ى م ئ ذ ه اط ر ة ٢٢ Some faces will be fresh on that day, اس دن بػض چہرے ظاداب ہ ں گے ककनत ह चहय उस ददन तय त ज औय प रप ल ल रत ह ग, wuǧūhun yawmaˈiḏin nāḍiratun
27 إ ل ر ب ا ه اظ ر ة ٢٣ looking at their Lord, اپےن پروردگار کی هػمج ں پر هظر رکھے ہ ئے ہ ں گے अऩन यफ क ओय द ख यह ह ग ˈilā rabbihā nāẓiratun
28 ئ ذ و و ج ى م ب اص ر ة ٢٤ and some faces will be scowling on that day, اور بػض چہرے افشردہ ہ ں گے औय ककतन ह च हय उस ददन उद स औय बफगड ह ए ह ग, wa-wuǧūhun yawmaˈiḏin bāsiratun
29 ب ا ف ال ر ة ٢٥ ث ظ ن ان ف ػ و knowing that they will be dealt outa punishment breaking the spine. جوہیں یہ خیال ہ گا کہ کب مصیبت ث ڑ کمر وارد ہ جائے सभझ यह ह ग कक उनक स थ कभय त ड द न व र भ भर ककम ज एग taẓunnu ˈan yufʿala bihā fāqiratun
30 ه ال إ ذ ا ب ل غ ت الج ر ال ٢٦ No indeed! When the soul reaches up to the collar bones, ہ ظیار جب جان گردن ثک پہوچ جائے گی क छ नह, जफ प र ण क ठ क आ रग ग, kallā ˈiḏā balaġati t-tarāqiya
31 ر اق ٢٧ م ن و ل و and it is said, Who will take him up? اور کہا جائے گا کہ اب ک ن جھاڑ پھ هک کر هے وا ل ےہ औय कह ज एग, "क न ह झ ड-प क कयन व र?" wa-qīla man rāqin
32 و ظ ن ف ر اق اه ي ال ٢٨ and he knows that it is the [time of] parting, مر هے اور والے ک خیال ہ گا کہ اب صب صے جدائی ےہ औय वह सभझ र ग कक वह ज द ई (क सभम) ह wa-ẓanna ˈannahu l-firāqu
33 و ال ج ف ت الش اق ب الش اق ٢٩ and each shank clasps the other shank, اور پوڈلی پوڈلی صے لپٹ جائے گی औय पऩ डर स पऩ डर लरऩट ज एग, wa-ltaffati s-sāqu bi-s-sāqi
34 م م إ ل ر ب ئ ذ ال م ش اق ٣٠ that day he shall be driven toward your Lord. ک صب ا ج پروردگار کی طرف لے جایا جائے گا त म ह य यफ क ओय उस ददन प रस थ न ह ग ˈilā rabbika yawmaˈiḏin-i l-masāqu
35 ل ٣١ ص د ق و ف ال ص ل He neither confirmed [the truth], nor prayed, هہ هے اس کالم خدا کی ثصدیق کی هماز پڑھی هہ اور ककन त उसन न त सत म भ न औय न नभ ज अद क, fa-lā ṣaddaqa wa-lā ṣallā
36 و ل ن ن ٣٢ ل و ث ب ه ذ but denied [it] and turned away, بلکہ ثکذیب کی پھیر لیا موہ اور र ककन झ ठर म औय भ ह भ ड, wa-lākin kaḏḏaba wa-tawallā
37 ٣٣ ب ج م ط ا ل ي إ ل ث م ذ and went swaggering to his family. پھر اپےن اہو کی طرف گیا اک ڑثا ہ ا कपय अकडत ह आ अऩन र ग क ओय चर ददम ṯumma ḏahaba ˈilā ˈahlihī yatamaṭṭā
38 ٣٤ ل ف ا و ل م ا و ل So woe to you! Woe to you! افش س ےہ ثیرے حال پر بہت افش س ےہ अफ स स ह त झऩय औय अफ स स ह! ˈawlā laka fa-ˈawlā
39 ٣٥ ل ف ا و ل م ا و ل ث م Again, woe to you! Woe to you! حیف ےہ اور صد حیف ےہ कपय अफ स स ह त झऩय औय अफ स स ह! ṯumma ˈawlā laka fa-ˈawlā
40 ى ٣٦ ا ح ش ب ا ل هش ان ا ر ك ص د ن ج Does man suppose that he would be abandoned to futility? کیا اهشان کا خیال اصے کہ یہ ےہ اصی طرح ا زاد چھ ڑ دیا جائے گا क म भन ष म सभझत ह कक वह म ह स वत त र छ ड ददम ज एग? ˈa-yaḥsabu l-ˈinsānu ˈan yutraka sudan
41 ٣٧ م ا ل م ه ط ف ة م ن م و م و Was he not a drop of emitted semen? هہیں لطرہ کا موی وہ اس کیا ثھا جشے رحم میں ڈا ل جاثا ےہ क म वह क वर टऩक ए ह ए व मय क एक फ द न थ? ˈa-lam yaku nuṭfatan min maniyyin yumnā
42 ان غ ث م ه ك ة ف خ ل ق ل ف ش ى ٣٨ Then he became a clinging mass; then He created [him] and proportioned [him], بوا پھر غلكہ پھر اصے خلق کیا برابر کرکے कपय वह यक त क एक प टक ह आ, कपय अल र ह न उस र ऩ ददम औय उसक अ ग-प रत म ग ठ क-ठ क ककए ṯumma kāna ʿalaqatan fa-ḫalaqa fa-sawwā
43 ٣٩ و ج م و ي الز ن الذ ه ر ف ج ػ و هث و ا ل and made of him the two sexes,the male and the female. پھر اس صے غ رت اور مرد کا ج ڑا ثیار کیا औय उसक द ज नतम फन ई - ऩ र ष औय स त र fa-ǧaʿala minhu z-zawǧayni ḏ-ḏakara wa-l-ˈunṯā
44 ٤٠ ان ح غ ل ب ك اد ر م ذ ل ا ل س ال م ث Is not such a one able to revive the dead? کیا وہ خدا اس بات پر لادر هہیں ےہ کہ مف دوں ک دوبارہ زهدہ کرصکے क म उस वह स भर थमय प र प त- नह कक वह भ द क ज पवत कय द? ˈa-laysa ḏālika bi-qādirin ʿalā ˈan yuḥyiya l-mawtā
