It is important that your child arrive on time as they rig their boats upon arrival to get out sailing as soon as possible. There is one hour for lunch, which is supervised. There is a canteen on site that children may also choose to use to purchase their lunch. Please note that junior sailing is a sailing instruction program and children are expected to be out on the water every day unless the weather is deemed a risk to the children. In order for children to be awarded their CanSail levels, they must meet the criteria set out for each level by CanSail Canada. NEW THIS YEAR ~ EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT! Applicable to registrations received before May 15 th ONLY If registering more than one child who is listed on your family membership or is a member of your immediate family, the additional child(ren) are given a 10% discount. Activities during the Progam Parent-Child Sail Day: Usually, the last day of the four-week sessions (July 21 st and August 18 th ) are reserved for parent-child sail day in the morning followed by a lunch BBQ. The children usually receive their written CanSail evaluations at that time as well. Olympic Day: Fun opportunity for children to make food, get dressed up and decorate their boats according to a chosen country and race against each other. Other tentative activities: Sail to Oka Beach or Carillon for picnic and swimming fun and morning of sailing with adult members who have keel boats.

It allows children registered in morning swimming classes or other activities to enjoy sailing in the afternoon. Given the demand on instructors for ensuring proper supervision, your child cannot arrive on the premises prior to 1pm. Sailors may have the chance to join other regattas with the Race Team if there is space and instructor availability. Please note that there are additional regatta registration costs that are payable directly to the hosting yacht club. Please indicate whether your child is planning to work some afternoons as a part-time Sailing Instructor with HYC. This service would be an additional cost. Spring Training several weekend exercises in late May to June Fall Training several weekend exercises in September Please note that the Race Team is a full-time commitment and there are additional costs to parents: regatta costs (registration costs, accommodation for CORK in Kingston, food, etc.), team shirts, etc. Parents are also expected to help carpool, chaperone (CORK in Kingston) and trailer boats (if they happen to have that capability). We kindly ask that parents take regatta dates into consideration when planning any vacations or appointments. For those regatta dates not confirmed, the dates from last year are provided to give you an approximate timeline. As an advanced sporting program, the children will be learning about healthy eating and encouraged to engage in exercises to help maximize performance in the boat.

6 JUNIOR SAILING TERMS Please read the following carefully and indicate your agreement by checking each box. Sailors taking part in the program shall: Pass a swim test Possess an MOT approved Life Jacket (equipped with whistle). LIFE JACKETS SHOULD BE OF A BRIGHT COLOUR. Abide by Club and course rules at all times. Be responsible for Club boats and equipment. Any loss or damage caused by a student's negligence will be billed to the parent. Be prepared to participate in the sailing program, which involves being out on the water every day unless the weather is a risk to the children. Payment Terms Non-Members must pay the initial session upon registration. All subsequent sessions must be paid at the time of registration with post-dated cheques dated on the first day of each session. Members are billed at the beginning of each month for the session in which they were registered FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE Authorizations I, the undersigned wish to enroll my child in the HYC Junior Sailing Program and accept the charge on my account (as a non-member, I have enclosed the applicable payment). 7 HYC Junior Sailing Program Equipment Policy Lost or Damaged Boats, Parts and Equipment Each sailor is responsible for making sure his/her boat is well maintained. Boats will be checked in the morning and at the end of the sailing class day by an Instructor. Sailors must report any loss or damage immediately to his/her Instructor. If, through carelessness and/or irresponsible action, boats and equipment are damaged or lost, the sailor and his/her parents will be held accountable. In the event of such an incident, the Instructor concerned will make out a written report. The Head Instructor will phone the parent to report the incident. The Head Instructor will then add to the Instructor's report an estimate of the cost of repair or replacement required and will forward a copy of both these reports to the Club Manager. The Manager will mail a copy to the parent and charge the cost to the member's account. I agree to abide by the Equipment Policy and accept financial responsibility for my child's participation in the HYC Junior Sailing Program.
