1 Notice of Race CORK Offshore, SportBoat and One-Design Regatta August 25 th to 28 th, 2011 Kingston, Ontario 1. INVITATION CORK/Sail Kingston invites sailors in PHRF (Including J105, Olson 30, and Laser 28 ) SportBoat, Albacore (Aug 27-28), 505, FD, Soling (tentative) and Martin 16 (Aug 25-26) to come and sail in The CORK Offshore, SportBoat and One-Design Regatta in Kingston. Other classes are invited to apply. Classes with 6 or more competitors may be given their own start. For PHRF-rated boats, there is a Long Distance Race (optional) on Thursday followed by three days of course racing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For the J105s the three days of course racing is their Canadian Championship. Additional details regarding eligibility, class rules etc. can be found here. For the Albacores this 2 day event (Saturday and Sunday) is their Ontario Provincial Championship. For Martin 16s this two day event (Friday and Saturday) is their Ontario Provincial Championship. For the Solings this 2 day event, (Saturday and Sunday) is to be confirmed. For SportBoats this is a three day event (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). For FDs this 3 day event (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) is their North American championship. For 505s this 3 day event (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) will be their Eastern Canadian Championships. SITE The regatta will be hosted from the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour (POH), site of the 1976 Olympic sailing events, the 2007 Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship and the 2010 Optimist North American Championship. Racing will take place on the fresh waters of Kingston Harbour. 3. ELIGIBILITY The regatta is open to all designated classes; boats duly registered meeting equipment, accommodation and measurement requirements of the appropriate class association or handicapping system. Participants must have paid all event fees before beginning official competition. 4. FLEETS AND DIVISIONS Boats may register in One-Design, SportBoat or PHRF divisions. PHRF divisions will be established based upon registrations received by 2000h on Wednesday, August 24. CORK retains the right to alter divisions if subsequent registrations warrant. 5. HANDICAPPING a) For PHRF entrants, a PHRF-LO handicap certificate is required with the entry form. Ontario entrants without a current PHRF-LO certificate can contact their club handicapper to update their certificate. Entrants from outside Lake Ontario will have a PHRF-LO Event Certificate issued for the event. A current PHRF certificate from the entrant's home area is required for a PHRF-LO Event Certificate. For more information on PHRF-LO, visit the PHRF-LO website or call the PHRF-LO office at b) Where handicapping is necessary for the Sport Boats the Portsmouth Yardstick as published by US Sailing will be used. 6. RULES a) The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. In the event of conflict in any translation, the English version will prevail.

2 b) Only the prescriptions of the Canadian Yachting Association to rule 68 and all the prescriptions to Appendix F will apply. They can be found on the CYA website and will be stated in full in the Sailing Instructions. 7. 3 The RC may communicate with some fleets by VHF radio. The channel will be stated in the Sailing Instructions. 10. PENALTY SYSTEM a) For some classes rule 44.1 may changed so that only one turn, including one tack and one gybe, is required for an infringement of a rule of part 2. b) For some classes Rule 44.3 (Scoring Penalty) may not apply. 11. There will be no charge for the use of this crane at the times given in the schedule. The crane will be available at other times for a fee of $50.00 per use. b) For boats over 3000 pounds: (i) Launching will be at Collins Bay Marina See schedule for times.
