1 7th Half Ton Classics Cup St. Quay Portrieux 2014 Organized by the Sport Nautique de St. Quay Portrieux With collaboration of the Bruxelles Royal Yacht Club and the Half Ton Class Europe NOTICE OF RACE 1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the RRS The French national prescriptions which apply are stated in appendix Prescriptions. 1.3 The Offshore Special Regulations Category If there is a conflict between languages the French text will take precedence. 1.5 The rules of the Half Ton Class Europe, as available on 2 ADVERTISING 2.1 See ISAF Regulation 20, Advertising Code. 2.1 Competitor advertising will be restricted 2.2 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. 3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1 The regatta is open to all boats complying to the rules of the Half Ton Class Europe ( 3.2 All competitors will have a valid IRC measuring certificate. 3.3 Owners/skippers shall sign the waiver of responsibility included in the inscription document. 3.4 Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and sending it, to the clubs secretary by 31th May 2014 at Sport Nautique de St. Quay Portrieux, Esplanade du port d Armor, F22410 St. Quay Portrieux. 3.5 Late entries will be accepted under the conditions stated in NOR FEES 4.1 The fee is 450,-. This includes a mooring in the harbour of St. Quay Portrieux from Saturday 5 July till Sunday 12 July and a crews dinner. 4.2 Hauling in and out can be organized after contact with Sport Nautique de St. Quay Portrieux before 31 May The fee for in/out hauling is 60,- 4.3 Late entries are accepted with a supplementary fee of 150,- 5 SCHEDULE races are scheduled. 2 5.3 The last day of the series, no warning signal shall be given after 11h00. 6 MEASUREMENTS 6.1 Each boat shall produce a valid rating certificate to the organizing authority. 6.2 The organizers can make rating controls on any day of the series. 7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 7.1 The sailing instructions will be available when entries are confirmed. 8 VENUE 8.1 The racing area is the bay of St. Brieuc. 9 THE COURSES 9.1 The courses to be sailed will be coastal, constructed or with a show element. 9.2 An appendix to the race instructions will be provided at entry confirmation mentioning all the marks that could be used. 9.3 All races will be started from the Race Committee boat. 10 PENALTY SYSTEM 10.1 RRS 44.1 is changed so that for infractions to a rule of RRS, part 2, to the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty (comprising one tack and one gybe). 11 SCORING races are required to validate the series Points for the coastal race will be doubled and will not be discardable (a) When fewer than 4 races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores. (b) When from 4 to 7 races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. (c) When 8 or more races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores. 12 BERTHING 12.1 Boats shall be moored on pontoon 7 of the deep water harbour of St. Quay Portrieux (VHF Ch 7) 13 HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS 13.1 Boats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the race committee. 14 RADIO COMMUNICATION 14.1 All boats shall have a VHF transceiver VHF Ch 77 will be used 14.3 Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. 15 PRIZES

3 15.1 Results will be given every evening in the clubhouse of Sport Nautique de St. Quay Portrieux Prize giving for the regatta will be on Friday 11 July 2014 at 14h DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY 16.1 Competitors participate or stay in the regatta entirely at their own risk. Consequently by accepting to race or to continue racing, the participant releases the organizing authority from any responsibility in case of damage (material and/or physical). 17 INSURANCE 17.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of ,- or ,- per incident. 4 APPENDIX PRESCRIPTIONS FFVoile Prescriptions to RRS Applying to foreign competitors RRS 64.3 (*): The jury may ask the parties to the protest, prior to checking procedures, a deposit covering the cost of checking arising from a protest concerning class rules. RRS 67 (*): Any question about or request of damages arising from an incident involving a boat bound by the Racing Rules of Sailing or International Regulation to Prevent Collision at Sea depends on the appropriate courts and will not be dealt by the jury. RRS (*): In such circumstances, the written approval of the Fédération Française de Voile shall be received before publishing the notice of race and shall be posted on the official notice board during the event. RRS 78 (*): The boat s owner or other person in charge shall, under his sole responsibility, make sure moreover that his boat comply with the equipment and security rules required by the laws, bylaws and regulations of the Administration. RRS 86.3 (*): An organizing authority wishing to change a rule listed in RRS 86.1 in order to develop or test new rules shall first submit the changes to the FFVoile, in order to obtain its written approval

5 and shall report the results to FFVoile after the event. Such authorization shall be mentioned in the notice of race and in the sailing instructions and shall be posted on the official notice board during the event. RRS 88 (*): Prescriptions of the FFVoile shall be neither changed nor deleted in the notice of race and sailing instructions, except for events for which an international jury has been appointed. In such case, the prescriptions marked with an asterisk (*) shall be neither changed nor deleted in the notice of race and sailing instructions. (The official translation of the prescriptions, downloadable on the FFVoile website shall be the only translation used to comply with RRS 90.2(b)). RRS 91 (*): The appointment of an international jury meeting the requirements of Appendix N is subject to prior written approval of the Fédération Française de Voile. Such notice of approval shall be posted on the official notice board during the event.
