1 Rigging the Hunter Trailer to and park in a flat area away from overhead powerlines. Ensure that tree branches, parking lamps, power lines and other obstructions are not on your path to the boat ramp. Park to minimize interference with others access to boat ramps. 2. Unload outboard motor, cooler, PFD s, jib sheet, rudder, tiller, mast float, mesh gear bag, tool/first aid kit & personal bags aft to starboard side of stern. Things starboard are to be rigged. 3. Remove gas container from motor mount on boat. Place starboard beside outboard. 4. Remove tie- down straps from trailer. Place portside. Things portside are to be stowed back in car. 5. Remove reflective mast flag. It s tied to the ring ding on the mast float post using a lark s head. Pull the tightened loop open and push the flag through it to free it. Place portside. 6. Untie lines securing fenders around mast and let fenders hang beside hull. NOTE: If tide is outgoing = fenders starboard, Incoming tide = fenders portside. 7. Untie the jib furling line and unload mainsail/boom and paddle from cockpit floor to starboard. 8. Release the tautline hitches on lines securing upper and lower shroud lines to one another via the bow mast crutch. Do not untie the bowline loops on the ends. Simply release the shroud from the lark s head as done with the orange mast flag by pulling the long piece of rope from the loop. Place lines portside for stowing in car.

2 9. Untie Mast from bow mast crutch. White/blue halyard is wrapped and daisy chained. Release daisy chain and unwrap. Do not uncleat halyard from mast. 10. Untie Mast from stern mast crutch. White/green line is attached with a tautline hitch. 11. Untie furling headstay swivel (if secured to stern mast crutch with daisy chain) 12. Attach jib sail to head stay on mast using pin and ring ding. Trail jib forward keeping it free of tangles. 13. Attach temp forestay line (green/white) with short bowline (above jib head stay) to single block near top of mast. Run line to bow thru most forward hole on bow deckplate. Tie Fig 8 knot in its end to prevent loss. Make sure this line is free and untangled (lower bowline loop is okay). Will use a taughtline hitch after sweating the line later. 14. Flip all four shroud chainplates to face aft. Ensure shrouds are untangled and ready to be stretched aft. 15. Remove mastfloat ringding from mast post. Install mast float and replace mast ringding. 16. Ensure cockpit is clear of lines and gear. Crew members need good footing for stepping the mast. No sandals! No slippery substances in cockpit. No extra hands cluttering cockpit. 17. Forward crewmember lifts mast from bow mast crutch as aft crewmember lifts mast midship. Both move aft carefully ensuring shrouds, jib, and halyard stay free and clear. As aft crew reaches stern forward crew holds position at base of mast and mast step. 18. Aft crew presses mast aft and positions him/herself under spreaders and lifts mast to head height. Forward crew pushes mast base downward and mates mast pivot pin with mast step plate. Forward crew calls Mast pin home! when mating is completed.

Then aft crew, while keeping feet wide, extends arms upward and and walks the mast upward as forward crew clears temp forestay (swings line in front of shrouds and spreaders) and begins to haul steadily on temp forestay line (green/white) at the bow. Forward crew pulls on the portion of this line AFTER it has passed through the bow deckplate. Use mechanical LEVERAGE to assist aft crew is raising mast vertically! 20. Once the mast is upright, aft crew steadies mast while forward crew feeds bitter end through bowline loop on temp forestay and completes a tautline hitch) back to the same line about midpoint between bowline loop and the bow deckplate. Sweat this line and tighten securely. Only then can aft crew release mast. 21. Aft crew takes furled jib sail forward to bow ensuring it is not tangled with shrouds, spreaders, or temp forestay. Aft crew pulls downward on jib towards bow deckplate (large aftmost hole) as forward crew removes pushpin from furler drum assembly and mates it with the bow deckplate. Make sure pushpin is home and secure (IMPORTANT! Mast may fall aft under load later otherwise!). Ensure no kinks or tangles in jibsail. 22. Release temp forestay (untie tautline hitch) and cleat on mast keeping line untangled and not fouling the jib sail. Coil excess line and secure to cleat. 23. Aft crew uncleats furling (white/red) line at jamcleat in cockpit (starboard beside mast). Tie a figure 8 stopper knot in the aft end of this line so that it will NOT be lost in the chase tube. 4 forward crew pulls a foot or two of the furling line forward through the chase tube for mating with furling drum. Attach line through starboard aft drum opening through top drum hole and use a figure 8 knot as a stopper. Turn furling drum 3 times counter- clockwise (as seen from above) to prime furler. As forward crew holds drum aft crew cleats furling line in cockpit starboard side beside mast. 24. Aft crew unties square knot on jib lines releases daisy chain (keep 2 turns on furled jib sail) and runs starboard and port jib lines to starboard and port cleats. Tightens, cleats and ties a fig 8 stopper knot on the bitter end of each. 25. Remove mailsail/boom assembly from blue sail bag. Place bag portside for stowing in car. 26. Position boom for mating with mast with clew of mainsail UP - connect boom gooseneck to mast bail with pushpin. 27. Lift aft end of boom to horizontal connect topping lift (yellow line starboard at mast) to aft eyestrap using bowline. 28. Unwrap, untangle (no twists), and connect boom vang to mast bail using shackle. Cleat vang in fiddle block. Test rise. The boom should NOT move upward. 29. Unwrap, extend and untangle (no twists) mainsheet and double block. Connect to boom using shackle. Sheet in and cleat. Test. 30. Ensure anchor line is untangled and unfouled. 31. Remove rudder pin from aft mast crutch by releasing gudgeon keeper pin (get stainless!) Place mast cradle to port for stowing. 32. Connect rudder fat edge forward using rudder post. Secure with gudgeon keeper pin. Connect tiller to rudder head. Insert cotter pin preventer. Lift lowest end of rudder aft, haul and cleat black ( Black is back ) control line to tiller jam cleat. Rudder should now be held aft. 33. Place outboard motor onto motor mount. Position thumbscrews in cutouts. Tighten thumbs to secure.

5 34. Fill fuel tank on outboard. One quart capacity. Good for about one- half hour of motoring. Remove motor cowling. Open fuel line. Replace and refasten cowling CAREFUL! It s easy to position incorrectly and fracture cowling when closing hasp. Open O2 vent (white twist cap). Tip outboard forward and lock in position with pin. 35. Attach blue mesh gear bag into cockpit forward of mast using and overhand knot and a daisy chain on the bungee cord. Check contents: Boat registration Sunscreen Insect Repellant Binoculars Hand- bearing Compass Chart Anemometer (wind gauge) Sail ties Reefing lines Waterproof floating container o VHF radio o Car keys o Cell phone o Camera 36. Place tarp & fuel container in cockpit cuddy atop anchor. 37. Place paddle into boat cuddy. Handle points forward. 38. Place PFD s in cuddy. Any non- swimmer must wear aboard. 39. Place personal bags in cockpit cuddy. Contents: Water shoes Hat Sunglasses & restraint strap Towel(s) SPF- 15 (or greater) Lotion T- shirt 40. Place cooler into boat in cuddy. Secure with strap so it will not spill. 41. Assess force of wind and water current. Relocate (if necessary) and hang fenders. 42. Ready bow and stern lines for throwing at dock.

6 43. Ready and free painter line. Flake atop spare tire. 44. Shoes on (for launch crew)! Boat ramps are usually very slippery!! 45. Back trailer into water until hull wetted and boat almost afloat. 46. Release winch and bow clip from bow D- ring. 47. Float boat off trailer holding painter. 48. Turn bow to water if possible. 49. Lower outboard into water. Move gear selection lever to neutral. Set throttle to start. Full choke. Kill switch in place. Start motor. Adjust choke. Move gear selection lever to forward. Motor slowly against current to dock. Kill motor. Throw lines. Load crew members. Stow lines. Restart motor. Motor into channel. GO SAIL!
