1 Who s Coming to the Boat Show Falcon 1960 Hacker-Designed Custom Build Owned by: Scott and Derra Dunsmoor Originally commissioned by Harry Umphrey, an early Trans Canada Airlines pilot who, after retiring, became the personal pilot for Mr. Mclean who owned Canada Packers. George Hinterhoeller, then the shop foreman of Shepherd Boatworks in Niagara-on-the-Lake, framed and planked the hull during the winter of 1959/60, and Mr. Umphrey completed the boat. Falcon was purchased by the Dunsmoors in 2005 from Ian Douglas who had owned the boat since Gertrude 2003 owner Power Dory Owned by: Barry Millar Good user family boat - used every summer and until now the dogs were allowed to go in the boat! 2 Crusoe 1952 Duke Hardtop Owned by: Jane Armstrong and Chris Vandergrift Originally commissioned in 1951 by John Reilly, a successful California businessman who purchased Crusoe and Friday Islands on Lake Muskoka, Crusoe languished in its boathouse for years after the Reillys sold the property in 1963, subject to the ravages of dry rot. Chris Vandergrift of Keewaydin Island, within sight of Crusoe s resting place bought the boat in the 1990s and commenced an extensive restoration. Duke Marine has looked after the boat since building it and supervised the ongoing restoration. Fredrick Ross 1943 Russell Brothers Steam River Launch Owned by: Wayne and Judi Fischer This boat has provided many enjoyable hours of steaming at a maximum speed of 5 MPH in the Muskokas. continued 29

3 Who s Coming to the Boat Show - continued Cash Injection A 2003 Peter Breen Original Owned by: Peter Breen Designed from a Hacker Gold Cup race boat hull of the mid 1920s. The deck, interior and windshield design are all 1920s Ditchburn styles. All the hardware, folding windscreen, five-gauge grape-leaf dash, throttle, outboard rudder and exhaust pipe, were sand-casted using the original process. Cash Injection is powered with an Entec racing engine, balanced and blueprinted Big Block fuel injected motor of 450 horsepower. Canadian Club 1955 Shepherd 110S Owned by: Pete Laurence Bought boat at the Florida Spring Boat show in Tavares and towed it home. CHIMO 1929 Minett Shields Long Deck Launch Owned by: Alan Cranfield The original owner is unknown. Harry English purchased CHIMO in the mid 40s, named her Betty, and used her to take tourists on the lakes until the mid 50s. The Temagami Mining Company used her as a work boat at the mine until the 60s. Wm. Gooderham bought her for his fishing camp in the 60 s which was then sold with CHIMO to Joe Shaw as a private cottage. CHIMO also served as a private livery Boat for Camp Chimo on Lake Temagami. 30

It is basted on the need for spiritual rebirth to enter the family of God. His Bad Habit II 1961 Shepherd Runabout Owned by: George & Diana Thompson On the way to the boat show several years ago, a blade broke off one of the props due to metal fatigue and we limped into the show on one engine just in time to whittle a piece of wood from the dock to plug the hole where a bolt holding the strut came out - and save the boat from sinking! continued 31

5 Who s Coming to the Boat Show - continued STHOGIE 1953 Greavette Streamliner Owned by: Greg Hogarth Previously owned by the Zimmerman Family. Charlie Zimmerman was the best man at my wedding. He is now my co-captain and was very involved in the purchase and restoration. The boat is commonly referred to as a Cigar Boat, my nick name is Hogie, therefore STHOGIE. 32 Lady Of Iona 1961 Andrews (UK) Thames Slipper Launch Owned by: David & Pat Ellis Lady Of Iona s Story: See page 16 for complete story. The Island of Iona in Scotland is the burial place of early Scottish Kings. Lightning 2000 Peter Breen Owned by Greg and Pat Martin Lightning was built along the lines of the Greavette gentleman s racer in 1998 for Tom Ballantine of Lake Tahoe, California, and delivered to his Muskoka retreat in the spring of Thunder had just been delivered to his neighbour, hence the name Lightning. She was stretched 2 in length and 4 in beam, and the bottom trued and balanced. Lifting strakes were installed to handle the modern 350 horsepower motor that was the same weight as the original engines of the day, but over twice the horsepower. Sand cast period hardware, outboard rudder with mechanical advantage steering system, sterling silver lace face gauges, and custom leather interior were used.

6 Brown Eyes II 1955 Duke Duke Special Owned by: Peter & Lynne Quattro I first saw this boat during the Spring shop tour at one of the shops waiting for restoration, fell in love with it and had to have it, convinced the owner he would be better off to sell it to me and let me do the restoration. The rest is history. Wa Chee We 1923 Ditchburn 35 food V bottom Owned by: John D. Unsworth Sank for 45 years. Raised in Restored at Clark Wooden Boats Wa Chee We means Dancing Girl in the Sioux language. 33
