2 General Rules: Special Rules: This contest is sanctioned by the IPBA, and will be conducted under their rules, as amended August, These rules are available on their web site. These rules require that the contestants operate in a safe manner in compliance with all Pilot Rules, Rules of the Road, and Navigation Laws, including local laws enacted by a proper authority. Pay particular attention to SLOW SPEED areas. These are no wake zones, and your craft may require operation at less than the posted speed of 7 kts. Failure to comply with the Rules of the Road results in a 1% Penalty or disqualification. Please note that participation in this event does not give the contestant any special right of way. Please respect all other craft, especially fishing boats and sailboats not under power. If you need an observer, please contact Paul Haack or Steve Olsson by February 25th. There will be awards for 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd overall, and for best novice. There will also be a prize awarded to leg winners. There will be no class awards. Predicted and Contest Logs should be completed in ink, and presented to scoring officials in the clubhouse at the time of registration but no later than 11:30 AM. After the contest, completed and signed contest logs shall be returned to the contest scorers in the same location by no later than 4:00 PM. A stopwatch will be allowed only for timed runs and time outs. The stopwatch shall be cleared and stopped when its use is no longer permitted. Contestants may not have access to time of day, including personal watches, a cell phone, a chartplotter, or a computer screen. Throttles may be adjusted during the contest to adjust RPM from the RPM shown on the log plus or minus 10%. Please be aware that in restricted, SLOW speed areas, boat speed cannot exceed 7 knots. The IPBA handicap as set forth in the Standard Rule Book shall NOT apply on Lake Washington. Flat water speed is the speed of the cruiser at the basic RPM shown on the log plus or minus 10%. There shall be five award speed classes, and three finish time brackets, as follows: CLASS Flat Water Speed Speed Finish Time and under 8.00 and under 14:25-14: to to 9:00 14:40-14: to and over 14:55-15: to and over Navigation Aids and Electronics: No Radar, Chart Plotters or Electronic ranging devices may be used. It is the nature of Predicted Log Races that Contestants are unaware of the time and only

3 engine RPM and compass heading be employed. Auto pilots connected to GPS may not be used if displaying GPS headings. Charts displayed on a computer screen can be used but ONLY if the device is not connected to a GPS. Cellular telephones may be answered by Observers but not Contestants. The recommended chart for this contest is NOAA Chart The Official Mileage for this contest is 17.5 nautical miles, which shall not be exceeded. Radios: Before starting the race, contestants may converse on Channel 9. After the start of the contest radios may be used only to monitor Channel 16 or in an emergency. Explain all Time Outs on the back of the Contest Log form. The observer shall note the duration of the time out. SLOW speed is defined as 7 knots or less. Make sure your slow speed leaves no wake. Your individual boat design determines your own no wake speed. It may be well under 7 kts. All boats must remain behind the start line until they have begun the contest. Awards will be presented to overall first, second and third places, and to the first place in each of the five classes. Other awards are at the discretion of the race officials. An electronics division will be established based on number of entrants. Those in this division are not subject to any restrictions on use of electronics. Any awards are subject to the discretion of the race officials. 57 th MBYC BOOMERANG NAVIGATION CONTEST SATURDAY MARCH 3, 2018 CONTEST DESCRIPTION Start yards abeam Groat Point A standing start abeam Groat Point about yards off shore at N W. Proceed at heading of 167T to an extension of the northernmost dock at Luther Burbank Park located at N W

4 and about 500 yards off. Then proceed at SLOW SPEED on a course of 142T to CP 1, the North Face of the East Channel Bridge. CP 1 North Face of East Channel Bridge From CP 1 proceed at SLOW SPEED on a heading of 133T to abeam and 250 yards off the Blue Roofed House at N W. Proceed on a course of 181T to a point about yards and abeam Pleasure Point, located at N W. On a course of 195T continue to an extension of the North end of the VMAC, (Seahawks practice facility) 600 yards off to port, (Northwest wall at N W). Proceed on a course of 207T to an extension of the dock at Kennydale Beach Park located at N W and 600 yards off. (NOTE this leg is strictly to avoid shallow water). Continue on a heading of 198T to an extension of N30th Street (located at N W), yards off. Proceed on a heading of 276T until you arrive abeam about 200 yards off the House East of Chinook Beach Park at N W. Proceed to a course of 358T until abeam CP 2, the described Atlantic City House located at N W, 260 yards abeam port. CP 2 Atlantic City House, 260 yards abeam port From CP 2, proceed to TR 1 on a course of 102T for 1.2nm. Then proceed on a course of 053T until abeam and 350 yards off the Mercer Island Beach Club Clubhouse at N W. Proceed on a course of 034T to an extension of the South wall of the highrise of the VMAC, located at N W,700 yards off to starboard. Proceed on a course of 008T until at the extension of the Newport Boat Launch (located at N W) about 600 yards off. At SLOW SPEED proceed at 336T to CP 3, the South Face of the East Channel Bridge. CP 3 South Face of East Channel Bridge From CP 3, continue at SLOW SPEED on a course of 319T until abeam to port and 500 yards off the Beaumont (Luther s) Stack (located at N W). Resume cruise speed and begin TR 2 for 1.80 nm on a course of 300T. Following the TR, go to 033T until abeam the West side of the Weather Buoy, (YFIY 4s Priv) about 50 yards off, then proceed on a course of 090T
