1 Over 60 Years of Yachting Excellence Dana Drive Dana Point, California Dear Prospective Member, Thank you for considering membership in the Dana Point Yacht Club. In order to expedite your application, please follow the steps below. Note: Applications must be submitted by the last business day of each month for processing in the following month s business proceedings. 1. Complete all pages of the application entirely a. Describe your background and objectives of becoming a member of the yacht club in the interest letter portion to the Membership Committee. b. Have your sponsor fill out the sponsor letter section of the application. We will help you find a DPYC sponsor if you do not have one. c. Attach a recent picture of yourself (or we will take one!) d. Submit fees in the sum of $3150 checks can be made payable to Dana Point Yacht Club. Credit card payments are subject to a 3% processing fee. 2. Turn your completed application containing all of the above in to the DPYC Office. Do not give it to a club member or officer. Note: If completing an electronic version, please to memberservices@dpyc.org. 3. Your application will be given to the Membership Committee for processing which includes reviewing your application and contacting you by phone, with further information and any questions you or they may have. 4. Once application is reviewed and accepted by the membership committee, you will be invited to attend a Meet & Greet during which you will be introduced to our Flag Officers and Directors. This event is held on the Wednesday before the Board of Directors Meeting which is usually held on the third Wednesday of every month. (In the event you are unable to attend the Meet & Greet, please advise the Membership Committee so we can make other arrangements to accommodate your meeting of the board). 5. Membership Committee recommends approval of the application to the Board. 6. New members are notified of the Board Meeting results and if approved, will be advised when their new member packets will be ready at the club office for pick up. 3 CLUB ACTIVITIES & INTERESTS Our club s continued success is dependent upon an active membership and we invite you to join a committee to increase your participation in our club!. Please check all that apply to indicate both your interest as well as your willingness to participate. Publicity Promotes club activities among members and community. Interacts with local publications and business community. Race Committee Organizes, promotes, supports, and oversees the DPYC Racing Program. Juniors Program Composed of dedicated club members, usually with an active Junior Sailor. The activities of the committee include three junior regattas, a six-week summer sailing school and training sessions in the spring and fall for advanced racing juniors. RHD Charity Regatta Organization, coordination, promotion, events and sponsorships for our annual charity regatta. Social Committee Promotes and supports social events. Cruise Committee- Assist Cruise Chairs planning day visits and overnight voyages. Skills that could be useful include event planning, access to cruising supplies, docks, or anchorages, relationships with restaurants or other venues of interest to cruisers. Membership Committee Oversees all new member applicants, conducts interviews and makes recommendations to board on membership issues. Involved in the Dana Point Boat Show and annual Open House and quarterly New Member dinners. House House improvements, repairs, regular maintenance, etc. Great place to lend a hand or share your expertise. Ship Store Oversees Ship store: Stock, Inventory, Sales, Promotion of Inventory. 8 Established in 1952 As a Regular Member, you enjoy reciprocal privileges with almost every yacht club in the world (for the exception of Catalina Island Yacht Club & New York Yacht Club). Reciprocal privileges are a fun way to get to visit other clubs when you are traveling and enjoy things in common with people from far away. When in your boat and traveling to other areas, you can call ahead to other clubs and, when available, use their guest slips depending on availability. Who knows, you may even be invited to participate in activities they have going on at that time. DPYC belongs to the Southern California Yachting Association (SCYA) which enables our members to participate in sanctioned yacht races.
