1 BLUE VALLEY YOUTH SAILING FOUNDATION SUMMER OF 2018
2 You have received this packet because the Blue Valley Youth Sailing Foundation has received information that you and your child have an interest in participating in our Summer of 2018 sailing events. Camp Opti is a week long program presented in the evenings. The objective of the program to teach girls and boys ages seven to twelve the basics of sailing an eight foot Opti Pram. By the end of the six session program the youth will be able to sail away from the dock, complete a prescribed course and safely return to the dock. The Advanced Opti Program is for youth who have been through a basic sailing course. It combines ground school on such matters as sail shape and trim and moderate to high wind sailing with extensive time on the water. In addition to the designated class sessions the youth may participate in the Open Sails and Family Picnics. The youth will be introduced to sailing two person Sunfish and Flying Juniors. The youth s adult sponsors will be encouraged, but not required, to sail with their youth. All members of the Blue Valley Youth Sailing Foundation are welcome at the Open Sails and the Family Picnic Sails See the schedules of these activities on the next page. If you have questions please feel free to contact our Program Director, Henry Otto at bvysf@cox.net.
