1 Operating Manual for Shangri La Beneteau Cyclades 443 Welcome aboard, here are some of the basics and FAQs you ll want to know in Operating. Engine Start Engine starts with a key, insert and turn the key clockwise to the start position. You should release quickly after the idle confirmation. To turn off, you ll need to push the black STOP button next to the key, until you hear a beeping. Then turn the key to the off position. To start the engine for charging batteries, you want to ensure you are running the engine in the idle position. There s a red button located on the throttle, please ensure this is pushed in at all times to disengage the turn shaft and prop. Engine should not need to be run at more than 2500 rpm. Batteries are charging at 1500 rpm. Engine Checks: The engine bilge should be clean. The coolant level in the header tank should be checked and the oil level can be checked using the dipstick on the starboard side of the engine. If levels appear low, add coolant/oil as necessary. If levels continue to drop, or there is any type of engine alarm you should call AYC

2 Batteries The batteries charge off the shore power or the engine. While on charter keep the battery level over 12 volts. Run the engine for an hour in the morning and an hour before bed. Before sleep, turn off everything but anchor lights and fridge to conserve energy. This will ensure you don t get woken up by a loud beeping noise, announcing the levels are too low and the engine will need to be started. Electric Panel There are two types of power, the A/C shore power and the DC panel.

3 When on shore power, the A/C breaker should be on. This is the black switch on the white box. Also, switch on the battery charger breaker and if you want power to the outlet switch comes in handy. The A/C side (shore power) is used at the dock. The breakers should be used as shown on the right side of the panel. The D/C socket on the bottom right is also active for an inverter or car charging devices.

4 Power: Main breakers are in the aft stb cabin (see pic). The windlass breaker is located on the left. The next picture shows all breaker in the ON position.

5 Windlass Breaker (on the left of the pic). If the windlass overloads the breaker may trip. A small black switch will appear and will need to be pushed back up. To check this you can push the red button on the breaker and the black switch will drop down. Galley Foot Pump: There is a salt water foot-pump at the galley sink for rinsing dishes, etc. When underway make sure this is over the sink.

6 Propane The breaker to turn the gas on is on the DC panel. The orange light comes on when the gas is on. ALWAYS switch off when using the gas. Heads/Showers The heads are manually operated. The shower drain pumps are activated using the small black buttons in the shower area. The shower pump breaker on the DC panel must be on. Water Supply

7 There are two water tanks. The water tank levels should monitored carefully using the gauges on the DC panel. The tank changeover handle is in the cupboard on the port side at the end of the salon. Sailing 1. Mainsail/Boom- The topping lift should not be altered. It should be set before you board so that the boom clears the bimini covering the helm position. If you loosen the topping lift the weight of the boom will damage the bimini and the frame. Quite expensive! 2. There are two reefs. We suggest you use the one reef at knots and two reefs over 24 knots. Please ensure you are familiar with reefing system before you need to use it. The boat briefing is the right time to check on this. Anchoring Scope should generally be a minimum of 5 to 1. Most of the time you will anchor in 15ft which means you ll want 60ft of road. The anchor chain is marked at every 25ft, so please look for this to help know how much chain is out. It s good to reverse back to set the anchor. Also, recommend to use a rope hook to connect the chain and tie off to bow cleat. This will keep the anchor chain lower to the water.
