1 - Superyacht Standard Operating Procedures & Safety Policy Created: 2/2016 Revised 12/16 Policy for Operations Onboard Superyachts This manual and policy provides a framework for safe participation in PWC activities. All staff members who are RYA instructors and Trainers have agreed to abide by these procedures. This policy will be regularly reviewed and revised in response to feedback from Trainers, instructors and students, RYA guidance changes/updates and safety performance levels. Roles Principal: Candi Abbott Responsibility: Overall and final responsibility for all activity within the training centre. The Principal will: ensure RYA guidelines are followed; ensure all instructors/supervisors are adequately trained/qualified and have all the necessary equipment to carry out their duties according to RYA guidelines; maintain appropriate insurance; liaise with the Chief Instructor regarding suitable training areas and safe conditions before commencing activities; monitor standards of tuition or regularly liaise with the Chief Instructor to ensure standards are upheld; review any incident/accident/near miss reports and meet with Chief Instructor to create solutions with an aim to preventing reoccurrence. Chief instructor: Graham Stones Minimum qualifications - Valid RYA instructor certificate, Current First aid certificate Responsibility: Management of day-to-day tuition. The Chief instructor will: ensure all course programs are kept up to date and adhered to by all instructors; monitor standards of tuition; well-being of students and staff members; ensure all crew follow the contents of this manual / policy and RYA guidance; run induction training for new instructors;

2 - Superyacht Standard Operating Procedures & Safety Policy make the decisions regarding safety on the water and decide whether activities should commence/continue. This decision may also be made by the Principal;. create or check the submitted site specific risk assessment for any new areas of operation; this may also be done by the Principal; only issue an RYA certificate to students who meet all the level and competence requirements of the RYA syllabus; this may also be done by the Principal; keep an accurate record of all certificates issued; ensure the instructors have all the necessary personal, vessel safety equipment and teaching equipment/aids in good working order prior to commencing any activities; collect medical information from the students prior to activities and inform instructor of any relevant information. Trainers: Minimum qualifications - Valid RYA PWC Trainer, Current First aid certificate Responsibility: To facilitate and run the RYA PWC proficiency and instructor courses to the standard set out in RYA guidelines, the guidelines/safety procedures set out in this document and those within the RYA handbooks. The Trainer will: give a full safety briefing to all prior to every session and conduct the course in accordance with the RYA syllabus and RYA Power schemes instructor handbook; ensure a copy of the own craft tuition declaration is completed by the Captain/Chief Officer before commencing activities and a copy to info@marine-education.eu; create site specific risk assessments before commencing activities and a copy to info@marine-education.eu; check the weather forecast is appropriate before commencing activities; advise/consult the Captain or Chief Officer regarding any notable changes to the operating area / conditions; ensure all required safety equipment is onboard the tender / safety craft before commencing activities (see RYA checklists); ensure communications between the Trainer and the Bridge are operational before commencing activities; ensure participants are wearing appropriate clothing and impact buoyancy aids at all times when onboard the PWCs / Tender;

3 - Superyacht Standard Operating Procedures & Safety Policy observe local regulations/laws, follow IRPCS and give consideration to the environment and other water users; report any defects, incidents, accidents or near misses to the Captain or Chief Officer; report any accidents or near misses to the Principal/Chief Instructor and complete an accident or near miss report form and a copy to info@marine-education.eu; recommend the issuing of a certificate to the Chief instructor/principal only once the student has forfilled the RYA syllabus and demonstrated the ability level described in the syllabus. Safety Personal safety: Appropriate Impact buoyancy aids (PFDs) must be worn at all times on PWCs - meeting RYA guidelines (minimum 50 Newtons & EN 393/ISO or USCG Type III) Kill cords (safety lanyards) must be worn at all times on powered craft- attached to a strong point on the PFD/impact buoyancy aid (i.e. Belt) on a PWC and around the leg above the knee on a powerboat. Instructors will advise PWC participants regarding the use of protective clothing such as wetsuits, footwear, goggles and the advantages of wearing this. Smoking and Vaping onboard a PWC, powerboat or safety craft is prohibited. Users shall not operate craft under the influence of drugs or alcohol Medical details: All participants must be physically fit and able to undertake all aspects of the training as set out in the course syllabus. The Trainer will ensure all participants have completed the Medical form and that copies have been sent via info@marine-education.eu before commencing on water activities. All participants will be free from the influence of alcohol and drugs First Aid: All staff are first aid trained. A first aid kit is carried onboard the tender/safety craft at all times. Safety Equipment:

4 - Superyacht Standard Operating Procedures & Safety Policy Safety and emergency equipment is available onboard the tender/safety craft. The Trainer will check this equipment is present before commencing activities afloat. Accidents/Incidents/Near Miss Procedures: Near Miss: A near miss is defined as an incident in which no property was damaged and no personal injury was sustained, but where, given a slight shift in time or position, damage or injury easily could have occured'. Near misses must be logged a copy should be given to the Captain/Chief Officer and to the Principal / Chief Instructor of. Near miss records are reviewed a minimum of every 3 months and action taken to prevent reoccurrence. Accidents / Incidents: Incidents/Accidents must be logged, please complete the onboard Accident log and send a copy of the accident report form to info@marine-education.eu If required an accident report form is available on the staff page of Accident/Incident records are reviewed by the Principal, Chief Instructor, MAIB, and RYA. Staff are advised on the actions required to prevent reoccurance. An Emergency Action Plan can be found in the Appendix of this document. Tuition Minimum age for training: 18 Minimum duration: PWC Proficiency: 1 day PWC instructor course: 3 days Monitoring: Ensure the Bridge are aware of the location of your activities, departure time and estimated time of return. A tender/ safety craft must be afloat and available at all times during PWC activities Trainers will have an effective means of communication with the Yacht at all times via VHF/UHF or mobile phone.

5 - Superyacht Standard Operating Procedures & Safety Policy Ratios Sit down PWCs: Maximum of 6 students: 1 Trainer; Maximum 3 PWCs: 1 instructor; with no more than 2 students per sit-down PWC. Stand up PWCs: Maximum of 3 students: 1 instructor; Maximum 3 PWCs: 1 instructor Standards of tuition The Trainer and Moderator must adhere to RYA Training Guidelines and adhere to the content issued in the publications; specifically RYA Power Schemes instructor handbook, RYA PWC Handbook and any RYA Training notices. Teaching aids Teaching materials such as images, whiteboards, video clips (on RYA e-books) should be used to enhance training where appropriate. A copy of the RYA handbooks are available for reference to the students and instructors. Teaching areas afloat A tender / safety craft will be afloat at all times during PWC activities. PWCs and Powerboats will always operate within 3 n/m of the Yacht unless previously agreed with the Captain / Chief Officer Area specific risk assessments will be completed by the Trainer prior to commencing activities Training locations will be discussed and agreed by the Trainer with the Captain or Chief Officer of the Yacht. Consideration will be made when undertaking PW activities to ensuring a suitable area is used and local regulations are followed. Course content All items detailed in the relevant RYA syllabus will be covered in the RYA Introduction to Personal Watercraft Safety course. The RYA Handbooks and RYA Power Schemes instructor handbook (G19) are referred to for further information when required. Example course programmes for teaching PWCs and Powerboats is in the Appendix. Certificates The RYA certificates: Will only to be signed by the Principal or Chief Instructor

6 - Superyacht Standard Operating Procedures & Safety Policy Will only be issued to the Crew member on satisfactory completion of the training A record of all certificates issued will be recorded by the Trainer (Name, Date, Certificate Number) and ed to info@marine-education.eu in order that the proficiency certificates can be recorded on the RYA database and records. Craft & Equipment Craft: The craft used for training are owned and maintained by the Yacht; where possible the Trainer will allow the trained Crew members to take charge of the Yachts Tender / Safety craft and PWC/s. If a craft is deemed unsuitable by the Trainer, you must not use or must return to the Yacht and discontinue use of the craft and notify the Captain / Chief Officer. Powerboat / PWC Safety equipment: The following is the minimum amount of safety equipment that will be taken afloat during Powerboat and PWC activities either on the PWC or in the safety craft. Additional safety equipment will be added appropriate to the area of operation and local /country regulations. An equipment checklist can be found in the Appendix. If a sit-down PWC is used as the safety/support craft during training the following minimum safety equipment will be onboard: Distress flares (2 x red & 2 x orange smoke or 2 day/night flares), knife, tow line, anchor, spare kill cord, torch, fire extinguisher, hand bearing compass, tool kit, first aid kit. When a powerboat is accompanying the PWCs for training, the following minimum safety kit will be onboard: The Powerboat: Alternative means of propulsion, bailer, tow line, throw line, toolkit, survival bag or TPA, first aid kit, anchor/chain/warp, Distress flares (2x orange smoke & 2 x red handheld OR 2 x day/night flares), knife, spare killcord, fire extinguisher (minimum 5A/34B), VHF fixed or handheld, Radio emergency procedures card, fog sound signal, laminated charts, tide tables. Regardless of the support/safety craft being used the following will be taken afloat during PWC activities: High visibility marker buoys - available to create a course and mark areas of operation.

7 - Superyacht Standard Operating Procedures & Safety Policy PWC/ Powerboat Launching and Recovery Trainers/Moderators must allow crew with appropriate training to manage and take part in the launching and recovery of PWC and Tenders from the Yacht. Trainers should avoid getting involved with the launching and recovery unless absolutely necessary, if so, they must operate under and instruction of the experienced Crew. Fuel management and Refuelling Procedures Trainers must allow crew with the appropriate training to manage the refuelling of the Tenders and PWC. Feedback and Complaints The Trainer will ensure all course participants complete a feedback form and copies of these to info@marine-education.eu for review by the Principal/Chief Instructor. Initially the Trainer will collect information on any minor complaints made by students, relevant information will be passed onto the Chief instructor in order to take appropriate action. Significant complaints will be directed to the Principal who will take the appropriate action and report back to the staff members to allow appropriate actions to be taken and to prevent reoccurance of the issue.
