4 IMPORTANT GUIDELINES Prerequisite: Yu shuld be able t read Arabic text. Duratin: 9 hurs (Preferably in 2 t 3 sessiss) Sme Guidelines fr using the Shrt Curse Effectively: We will learn with lve, smiles, and relaxatin. This is a thrughly interactive shrt curse therefre listen attentively, and participate cntinuusly. We are practicing s there is n prblem even if yu d mistakes. Nbdy learns withut first cmmitting mistakes. The ne wh practices mre will get mre even if he/she cmmits mistake. Remember the glden rule: I listen, I frget. I see, I remember. I practice, I learn. Remember the 3 levels f learning: Listening (withut paying attentin). Yur ear hears nises. Listening carelessly r with dubt. Listening interactively; listening with HEART; respnding immediately t the pints. Space after MOTIVATIONAL AND LEARNING TIPS is left blank fr yu t take ntes and add ther things t it based n yur experience. If the space is nt enugh, yu may use back side f the paper. Each lessn is fllwed by Grammar. Grammar cntents is nt directly related with the main lessn simply because it will be t cmplicated t analyze grammatical aspects f the lessn in the first class. It may require separate Grammar teaching befre we start studying Surahs. Therefre, Grammar lessns build up yur Arabic Grammar in parallel t vcabulary that yu learn in the main lessn. DON T FORGET TO DO THE 7 HOMEWORKS AS WILL BE EXPLAINED DURING THE COURSE. And MOST IMPORTANT f all: Dn t frget t carry that vcabulary sheet in yur pcket/purse and refer t it at least 5 times during a day. The 7 Hmewrks are: Tw fr Tilawat: 1. At least FIVE minutes recitatin (fr the beginner) f the Qur'an frm the Mushaf. 2. At least FIVE minutes recitatin f the Qur'an frm memry during activities such as walking. Tw fr Study: 3. At least FIVE minutes study f the Wrd-fr- Wrd translatin (r frm this bk, fr the beginners) secnds study f the vcabulary bklet r sheet, preferably befre r after every Salah r any ther suitable intervals. ALWAYS carry the vcabulary bklet with yu till yu cmplete the curse. Tw fr Listening and talking t thers: 5. Listening t a tape which cntains these recitatins with wrd-by-wrd meanings (in yur car while driving and at yur hme while ding husehld chres). Yu can recrd the cntents f this curse yurselves int a tape, in case a recrded tape is nt available. 6. Talking t yur clleague fr 1 minute every day regarding the lessn (if yu are studying it in a class). The last ne fr using it: 7. Same thing is expressed in different languages using different prepsitins. Fr example: االله ا نلا I believed in Allah; ا م ن ت ب ا الله (in urdu) The abve 3 sentences in 3 different languages express the same fact, i.e., I believed, but the prepsitin in each language is different in their basic meanings. Fr the same language, a prepsitin may be r may nt be required depending upn the verb being used. Example: I said t him; I tld him. 2.
