6 Marine Evacuation Chute Systems - safe and flexible solutions customized for any vessel type and capacity VIKING Evacuation Dual Chute (VEDC) For high capacity, high sided vessels The evacuation dual chute, or VEDC, is VIKING s highest capacity chute system with an evacuation capacity of 908 people in 30 minutes. It is combined with 150 person liferafts for safe, rapid evacuation from large passenger carrying vessels. Capacity can be increased to suit the exact ship requirement with additional drop down liferafts. Largest capacity chute system available This unique design combines the highest evacuation capacity with discreet, compact and self-contained design for maximum safety and relatively little deck disruption. The VEDC is constructed from two conjoined chutes. 7 VIKING Evacuation Chute (VEC) For high sided passenger vessels The telescopic nature of the reinforced Kevlar evacuation chute ensures a safe descent path and compensates for ship and sea movements so that evacuation is not obstructed. This system has the additional advantage of protecting evacuees from environmental hazards such as severe weather conditions during evacuation and is fitted with a protective cover. The system is self-contained and compact, which means that it can be installed anywhere onboard; on open deck, between decks in an open recess, or built into the ship s side. It is available with 2 or 3 high capacity 101 person liferafts. n Evacuates 565 people within 30 minutes n Installation heights from 5 to 20 m n Flexible and stable, even in very rough seas n Simple to operate n Requires few crew members VIKING Evacuation MiniChute (VEMC) For small, medium and larger vessels This system can be used by vessels with embarkation heights from 5-20m. Although it was originally designed for small and medium sized vessels, its flexible design means that it can also be used for larger vessels. The system is lightweight and compact, and is fully contained in the stowage unit for installation almost anywhere on board; on open deck or between decks in an open recess. The minichute has a pre-incorporated 101 person or 153 person self-righting liferaft and can evacuate 582 people in 30 minutes. 8 Marine Evacuation Slide Systems - adaptable capacity for vessels operating in all types of weather conditions VIKING Evacuation Slide (VES) For any ship design and capacity This slide is a stable, efficient dry shod evacuation system that can be tailor made to suit all types of vessels. Available with self-righting 25, 51 or 101 person liferaft combinations. The dual track slide consists of 12 main tubes with 8 separate compartments that are individually inflated. This means that the slide s stability is not compromised in the unlikely event that the slide becomes punctured in any one place. The slide is fitted with ropes that allow for access up the slide, making it also a means of rescue. n Evacuates 657 people within 30 minutes n Installation height from 6 to 15 m n Extremely stable, even in very rough seas n Can be installed at extreme forward and raft position n Can be used as means of rescue (MOR) 8

9 VIKING Evacuation Liferaft System and SOLAS MiniSlide (VELS + SMS). For ferries with low embarkation heights This latest system is designed for middle and low embarkation vessels with independent slide and liferaft for increased capacity and installation flexibility. The VIKING Automatic Slide (VAS) Compact design and high capacity VIKING has developed a 153-person, open reversible liferaft and mini slide system packed into a single aluminum stowage box. The real magic of the new system lies in its one-button, one-person release and operation. The VAS system is designed and certified for vessels on domestic voyages such as ferries sailing in protected waters. It enables crew to evacuate up to 153 people in one go and is designed for evacuation heights of m. The system requires only one crew member to operate and oversee evacuation. The new brake cushion system gives evacuees a clear stopping point at the bottom of the slide and a soft stop. n Evacuates 501 people in 30 minutes n Embarkation heights between 1.5 and 4.2 m n Fully operational within 2 minutes n Available with canopied self-righting or open reversible liferaft n Single bowsing winch technology for faster, easier bowsing AWARD WINNING DESIGN The VAS system is very easy to install. It comes in a box that s placed flush with the ship side, bolted to the deck and ready to go. No bowsing lines or welded connection points on the ship s side are necessary. It is available with an open reversible (non-canopied) liferaft designed for use in protected waters or a self-righting and canopied liferaft to protect evacuees in open seas. The 101 person liferaft and slide are pre-attached and stored together in the container, saving valuable evacuation time. n Evacuated 501 people in 30 minutes n Embarkation heights between1.5 and 3.3 m n Flexible installation and capacity n Fully operational within 2 minutes n Requires few trained crew members Additional liferafts can be installed along with the system to increase evacuation capacity to suit any vessel requirements. 10 VIKING life-saving equipment iferafts Liferafts by VIKING VIKING s throw-overboard and davit launchable liferafts are available in a standard version and a top of the line automatically self-righting version. The proven self-righting liferafts ensure that no matter how the liferaft lands in the water it will always right itself ready for boarding. Liferafts can be equipped with a hydrostatic release unit to ensure that it inflates automatically if they have not been released manually. Liferafts are subjected to rough sea trials, wind velocity tests at forces of 30 m per second and deployed at extremely low temperatures. Self-righting liferafts are also tested for automatic self-righting. 10

11 Evacuation system liferafts The wide range of liferaft types suitable for use with the marine evacuations systems ensures flexible solutions for all types of passenger vessels. Liferafts with capacities of 25 and above can be used as supplementary liferafts to all VIKING marine evacuation systems. These liferaft types are all suitable for use with the various marine evacuations systems: n 25 and 35 person canopied liferafts n 25, 51, 101 and 153 person self-righting liferafts n 25, 51, 101 and 153 person open reversible liferafts 101 and 153 person self-righting liferafts have a Patent Pending PCT n Equipped with emergency packs and additional liferaft equipment according to SOLAS requirements n Provided with at least two individual buoyancy compartments. If one of the compartments is damaged, there will be sufficient buoyancy to carry the specified number of passengers n Stored in a rigid fibreglass container for durability n Installed onboard either on cradles and racks, or stacked on top of each other n Remote release systems allow liferaft containers to be stored far away from the MES system Davit-launched liferafts Can be used as an alternative or supplement to marine evacuation systems Davit launched liferafts are designed to be inflated and boarded at deck level, and then lowered into the water. They are available as self-righting canopied liferafts or standard canopied liferafts. They are designed to carry 12, 25, 35 or 39 people and are an effective means of dry shod evacuation and can be either an alternative to chute or slide systems or a supplement. 11
