1 Presentation Details Document Objectives Deliver a prepared presentation and promotional material by identifying the unsafe work practices of a table saw, as seen in the photo. Complete and submit a Safe Work Instruction form. No electronic / multi- media component is allowed. Marks awarded for presentation 40% of final mark (40 marks) 1. Safe Work Instruction 10 marks 2. Presentation component 30 marks a. Presentation 25 marks b. Handout / pamphlet 5 marks Details 1. Look at the worker in the picture, full page version found on page Research safe work practices for using a table saw. 3. Complete the Safe Work Instruction (SWI) form, found on page 4. A completed SWI is found on page 3. A copy of your safe work instruction MUST BE handed in at the contest orientation. 4. Prepare a presentation (5 to 10 minutes) based on answering the following questions: What are they doing that is unsafe? What is the proper equipment they should be using? What training should they have received? What should the worker being doing to ensure that they are working safely? Presentation format: It should be a Safety Talk to workers based on your Safe Work Instruction Form. It should be between 5 to 10 minutes. No electronic / multi- media component is allowed. The following equipment will be made available for the competitors presentation, if required. Table saw Push stick
2 Protective glasses 5. Develop one (1) piece of promotional material based on the presentation and completed Safe Work Instruction. For example, a hand out or pamphlet. General Information 1. At the contest orientation, competitors must hand in a copy of their completed Safe Work Instruction form. 2. All competitors must arrive at the competition site 10 minutes prior to their scheduled presentation time. Please refer to the Scope for penalties regarding tardiness. 3. At the beginning of the competitor s presentation competitors must introduce themselves to the judges and then present their safety talk. 4. At the conclusion of the competitor s presentation, the judges will ask questions about how the presentation was researched, prepared and what resource(s) were used to prepare. 5. If your presentation goes past 11 minutes, it will be stopped. 6. Make sure you have more than one copy of your presentation. If you have any questions, please contact a member of the National Technical Committee. REMINDER: At contest orientation, each competitor MUST: A. Hand in a copy of their completed Safe Work Instruction B. Advise NTC of any equipment they need for their presentation. For example, table saw, push stick, safety glasses.

Choose right ladder for the job. 2. Inspect the ladder, tag out, if unusable 3. Carry ladder vertical using two (2) hands 4. Place on a level surface and open fully 5. Ensure the leg locked are engaged 6. Climb the ladder using three (3) points of contact 7. After use - collapse the ladder, gently push up on leg locks and fold ladder to you. 8. Return ladder to storage area 9. Chain to wall to secure from falling.
