SENSOR ADJUSTMENT
The calibration of your OPTIMA 7 should be performed by experienced service personal only! MRU will not be responsible for any misuse or wrong interpretation of this calibration instruction. Your analyzer should have been switched on for at least 30 minutes before calibrating! Before you make any adjustments, you must make sure that the analyzer is working properly. The filter in the filter box must be new or clean. You should perform a leak test to make sure the system is without any leaks. The internal pump must have good suction. Tools needed: Test gases Flow meter Vacuum manometer Leak proof test cap Recommended test gases: O2 10 % Balance N2 CO2 30 % Balance N2 CH4 50 % Balance N2 H2S 500 ppm Balance N2 And for analyzers that have additional sensors (OPTIONAL): CO 500 ppm Balance N2 CO/H2 800/900 ppm Balance N2 NO 80 ppm Balance N2 NO2 50 ppm Balance AIR
SWITCH ON THE ANALYZER AND PERFORM A LEAK PROOF TEST (Zeroing must be completed) Switch on the analyzer Once zeroing is completed you press the F3 button Screen after zeroing press F3 (extras) Extras screen Important! The probe must be connected to the analyzer, both the gas sampling line and the draft line must be connected. Once the test cap it connected to the probe tube tip, we have a closed system. Phase 1 The gas pump (6) will create a vacuum and the negative pressure is measured using the draft sensor (14). Once a defined pressure is reached the pump will stop and the test enters Phase 2 and will count down for 10 seconds. During this time the pressure is monitored, the analyzer will detect a leak in the system should the pressure drop. Shown here test with attached probe
In case your analyzer has failed the test and you don t know if it is the probe, analyzer or condensate separator, then you can perform this test without the probe, you would just have to connect the condensate separator port to the draft port, using a silicone hose. Now you can perform the LEAK TEST again - - if the test passes, you have a leak in the probe system. - If the test fails again, you have a leak either in your condensate separator or analyzer. PLEASE NOTE!! The connection shown on the left is for this test ONLY. Never use this connection in any other menus! Shown here test without probe (use a silicone hose between the condensate separator and port P-) Scroll down to LEAK PROOF TEST and press OK Install the test cap on the tip of your probe tube The test takes about 10 seconds when completed the analyzer will display the result Remove the test cap RESULT LEAKAGE: check the analyzer, probe and condensate separator for leakage RESULT OK: you are good to go When your result was OK you can now measure the vacuum of your internal pump. Remove the hose at the condensate separator Connect the vacuum manometer to the condensate separator port Scroll up to Service values and press OK the gas pump will start After +/- 10 seconds your pump vacuum should be between -140 and -160 inh2o (-0.35 to bar) Press ESC to exit the service value menu If your pump vacuum is ok you can perform the calibration
Scroll up to SERVICE MENU and press OK Enter the PIN code (please contact MRU to obtain the PIN code for your analyzer (832) ) Each analyzer has a different pin code and is valid from January 1 st until December 31 st each year (you must ask for a new pin each year) O % 10.1 H2S 0.0 ppm CO 0.0 ppm CO/H NO 0.0 ppm 80.0 NO2 0.0 ppm 50.0 Select: Adjustment gas nom. Value Analyzer with O2 and H2S Analyzer with additional sensors The black line (O2) can be moved using the arrow up/down buttons The arrows left/right are used to modify the value in column 3 Column 3 is the value that you have in your test gas cylinders Column 1 displays the sensor Column 2 will display the reading once you apply test gases
NOTE: not needed when a ON DEMAND regulator is used! Apply test gas to your analyzer using either the port at the condensate separator or the tip of your probe tube. We recommend calibrating the analyzer with the complete sampling probe. The flow rate must be between 3 and 7 liters per hour Checking and calibrating the O2 Sensor (and H2S) Apply any gas without O2 (for example H2S gas or CH4 gas) When using H2S gas you can also calibrate the H2S sensor Apply test gas The cursor is in the O2 line The O2 was zeroed Wait about 1 to 2 minutes then press the F2 button (set O2=0)
Now move the cursor into Wait about 1.5 to 2 minutes then The H2S sensor was calibrated the H2S line press the F2 button (AUTO Span) Disconnect the gas from the analyzer and let the gas pump run with fresh air for +/- 3 minutes. Now exit this menu (ESC) ESC press OK to save the changes Now re-zero the analyzer at ambient air (press ESC until you reach the start screen) Start zeroing Zeroing in progress Press F3 when zeroing is completed Enter the service menu again
Now apply a test gas with Wait about 60 to 90 seconds Press F2 once the value is 10% O2 till the value is stable stable (Auto Span) Disconnect the gas from the analyzer and let the gas pump run with fresh air for +/- 3 minutes. Now exit this menu (ESC) Scroll down and enter the NDIR menu Press OK The cursor is in the CH4 line Apply your test gas of +/- 50% CH4 Wait about 60 to 90 seconds till the value is stable Now using the arrow left and right buttons the CH4 value can be adjusted Arrow left: decrease value Arrow right: increase value Make modifications until the reading on the screen matches your test gases
Move the cursor into the CO2 line Apply your test gas of +/- 30% CO2 Wait about 60 to 90 seconds till the value is stable Now using the arrow left and right buttons the CO2 value can be adjusted Arrow left: decrease value Arrow right: increase value Make modifications until the reading on the screen matches your test gases Disconnect the gas from the analyzer and let the gas pump run with fresh air for +/- 3 minutes. When finished press the ESC button to exit the menu. Now you are good to go!
