The course satisfies the requirements for the safe and secure transportation of hazardous materials by freight forwarders, shippers, brokers, carriers (private, common and contract); testers, re-testers, independent inspection agencies, manufacturers, Masters, Officers, Crew, longshoremen, etc.

3 Date: Name Days Cost April 11, 12, 13 USCG NMC STCW Approved Medical Care Provider 3 $ Training as a medical first aid provider is the second level of medical training required by the STCW. Medical first aid providers must have the knowledge and skill to conduct a primary and secondary survey of a sick or injured crewmember, immobilize the patient, and begin immediate treatment to preserve life. These are all skills which typically must be performed before obtaining radio medical ad-vice. The STCW Code, has a complete list of the required competencies. This 3 day course is designed to provide medical training to the marine officer so that he/she may properly respond as a medical provider STCW Table A-VI/1-3 (Elementary First Aid) and Section A-VI/4 Paragraphs 1-3 and STCW Table A-VI/4-1 (Proficiency in medical first aid) to medical emergencies occurring on board ship. The course consists of modules of instruction in anatomy and physiology, patient assessment, soft tissue injuries, fracture management, medical and environmental emergencies, CPR, oxygen administration and airway maintenance, wound care and suturing, pharmacology, medical communication, and behavioral emergencies. April 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 USCG NMC STCW Approved Medical Care Person in Charge 5 $ This 5 day course is designed to provide Emergency Medical Technician type training to the marine officer so that she/he may properly respond to medical emergencies occurring on board ship. Training as a Person in Charge of Medical Care (PIC Medical Care) is the third level of medical training provided under the STCW. This competency provides for a specified crew member or crew members to effectively participate in coordinated schemes for medical assistance on seagoing ships and to provide the sick or injured with a satisfactory standard of medical care while they remain onboard. The course consists of modules of instruction in anatomy and physiology, patient assessment, soft tissue injuries, fracture management, emergency dentistry, medical and environmental emergencies, urinary catheterization, CPR, automated external defibrillation, oxygen administration and airway maintenance, intravenous therapy, wound care and suturing, and alcohol and drug abuse. The average ship s crew member, including senior officers, is typically unfamiliar with such skills.

4 Date: Name Days Cost April 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 USCG NMC STCW Approved 5 $1, The standards of competence that have to be met by seafarers are defined in the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, as amended in 1995 (STCW 95). This course has been designed to support the implementation of STCW 95 and addresses the requirements of Regulation 1/6 and Section A-VI/6 of the STCW Code concerning the qualifications of instructors. The purpose of this course is to assist training providers and their teaching staff in organizing and introducing new training courses, or in enhancing, updating or supplementing existing training material, so that the quality and effectiveness of the training courses may thereby be improved. April 6, 7, 8 USCG NMC STCW Approved Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities 3 $ The objective of this course is to provide appropriate training or instruction in the following personal safety and social responsibilities areas as set out in STCW Code Table A-VI/1-4 which include: 1. Comply with emergency procedures; 2. Take precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment; 3. Observe safe working practices; 4. Understand orders and be understood in relation to shipboard duties; and, 5. Contribute to effective human relationships on board ship. Individuals will be required to demonstrate competence in accordance with the methods and criteria for evaluating competence tabulated in columns 3 and 4 of those tables through examination and/or continuous assessment throughout the course. The course is also designed to satisfy the requirements of 46 CFR 205(l)(1)(4) for new seafarers and 46 CFR (c) for existing seafarers.

5 Date: Name Days Cost April 13, 14, 15 USCG NMC STCW Approved Proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques 3 $ The objective of this course is to provide appropriate original or recurrent training or instruction to survive at sea in the event of ship abandonment as set out in STCW Code Table A-VI/1-4. Individuals will be required to demonstrate competency in accordance with the methods and criteria for evaluating competence tabulated in columns 3 and 4 of those tables through examination and/or continuous assessment throughout the course. Personal Survival Techniques as set out in Table A-VI/1-1 of the STCW Code: i. Don and use an immersion suit; ii. Safely jump from a height into the water; iii. Right an inverted life raft while wearing a lifejacket; iv. Swim while wearing a lifejacket; and v. Keep afloat without a lifejacket.

6 Date: Name Days Cost April 20, 21, 22 USCG NMC STCW Approved Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting 3 $ This course covers the training of crews in fire fighting recommended in Annex 1 of IMO Assembly resolution A.437 (XI). Those who have successfully completed the course should be able to react in the correct manner if fire breaks out, to take appropriate measures for the safety of personnel and of the ship and to use fire appliances correctly and safely. Individuals will be required to demonstrate competence in accordance with the methods and criteria for evaluating competence tabulated in columns 3 and 4 of those tables through examination and/or continuous assessment throughout the course. Fire prevention and firefighting as set out in Table A-VI/1-2 of the STCW Code: i. Use various types of portable fire extinguishers; ii. Extinguish smaller fires, e.g., electrical fires, oil fires, and propane fires; iii. Extinguish extensive fires with water, using jet and spray nozzles; iv. Extinguish fires with foam, powder, or any other suitable chemical agent; v. Fight fire in smoke-filled enclosed spaces wearing self-contained breathing apparatus; vi. Extinguish fire with water fog or any other suitable firefighting agent in an accommodation room or simulated engine room with fire and heavy smoke; and vii. Extinguish oil fire with fog applicator and spray nozzles, dry chemical powder.
