3 Newfoundland Diving The mixture of the Labrador Current and Gulf Stream just off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador attracts thousands of whales, provides rich nestling grounds for millions of seabirds, and brings to life a spectacular underwater garden of flora and fauna. 4 Iceberg Diving The best time for Icebergs in Conception Bay is from May to the end of July. From the beauty and majesty of their sheer size to the heart-wrenching memories of ill-fated ships, nothing evokes such a combination of awe, curiosity and caution quite like an iceberg. So if you re looking for icebergs, you ve come to the right place. Newfoundland and Labrador is the greatest iceberg theatre in the world. From the east coast of Labrador to Newfoundland s southern shore, you are in Iceberg Alley, the only place in the world where you can see two or three story icebergs making their way down the Atlantic Ocean from Greenland. 5 Humpback Snorkelling The best month for the whales is July or August when the capelin are rolling in. The most common of the whales in Conception Bay are the Humpback and Minke Whales. These majestic mammals have quite the stature but are actually just gentle giants who love to frolic. With our 23 ft rigid inflatable boat we can go where ever they go and get magnificent pictures and video. 6 Bell Island Wrecks Bell Island is one of the few locations in North America that German forces directly attacked during the Second World War. U-boats raided the island twice in 1942, sinking four ore carriers and killing more than 60 men. The events highlighted how potentially vulnerable Newfoundland was to enemy attack. These tragic events have left behind some of the best wrecks diving in North America, the wrecks are all 30m or shallower which makes the perfect for recreational diving. 7 Unique Dives Conception Bay used to be a main whaling station, after harvesting the fat they would dump the carcasses in the bay. The skeletons of these unfortunate creature still remain and you will have the opportunity to make a once in a lifetime dive on this unique site. The bay is also home to a very healthy Scollop population so now its time to dive for your dinner! Scolloping is lots of fun and rest assured it is very sustainable and you will be fully guided as to what you can take and which size. You can pay by bank transfer or our online payment system. We only accept VISA and MasterCard. Contact us if you would like to pay in another currency. Do not make the currency exchange without our permission. Please note that all extra payment fees must be paid by the customer. How much do I pay and when? When you have accepted the offer from Scuba Travel Scandinavia, you will receive a booking confirmation within one to two workdays. To confirm your spot, a deposit of 2000 SEK is required within 7 days from the booking date. This is a trip with a scheduled flight, you will need to pay the total flight cost for us to be able to confirm your flight. Before this has been done flight cost and availability can change. Flights will be available ca ten months before your trip departure. The final trip payment should be in Scuba Travel Scandinavia's account a minimum of 35 days prior to your departure date. 10 Extras Equipment rental Complete dive equipment rental is available. 12 L tank, weights, belt and air is included in the trip price. All dive rental equipment plus nitrox must be pre-booked through Scuba Travel. All equipment will be paid locally at the dive centre. Please also make sure you bring or rent a dive computer and SMB. Please contact us for the most updated price. Cancellation Insurance Please make sure you have cancellation insurance. If you do not we can help you to book with ERV insurance. It is available for a cost of 6% of the total trip cost. Must be booked and paid for along with your trip deposit. Important Your passport must be whole and valid for more than six months after your arrival back home. Please note that you need to apply for an ESTA if you are flying through, or to the US, and do not hold an American or Canadian passport. The application must be done online via: and a fee is incurred which is not included in the price of this trip. The application must be done a minimum of 72 hours before arrival to the US. Please also read this new rules for ESTA for those of you who has visited Syria, Irak, Iran or Sudan: All divers must have a dive certificate, dive log book and proof of dive insurance. ABOUT THE TRIP For the safari Wrecks & Reefs and South & St Johns we recommend all divers to be certified PADI Open Water Divers or equivalent and have a minimum of 10 logged dives. For the safaris Get Wrecked and safaris to the marine parks (Brothers, Elphinestone, Rocky, Zabargad, Daedalus) we recommend all divers to be certified PADI Open Water Divers and have a minimum of 20 dives. However you to get the most out of these safaris you should be Advanced Open Water diver and feel comfortable with occasional strong currents. If you have not been diving within one year of your departure we strongly recommend that you complete a scuba review course. Please make sure that you have a valid insurance which includes scuba diving. If you do not have insurance or need a complement, we strongly recommend you to purchase a diving insurance such as DAN or similar, diversalertnetwork.org. Due to the ever-increasing restrictions placed on checked- in baggage on flights, overweight/ extra baggage must be reported to and accepted by, the flight company. We will happily assist you to book you extra weight that is required. Please note that prices and baggage allowance varies between flight companies.
