6 Setting the Multi-Stager Each well is different Need to know history, location, production, pressures, amount of fluids, etc. Head gas must be able to lift upper plunger with fluid to surface Annulus (if any), fracture and formation must be able to lift the bottom plunger with fluid to the upper stage and replenish lower stage liquid 6

7 Setting the Multi-Stager Cont d Boyle s Law is used to balance the gas requirements for the two stages Example 10,000 foot well 100 psi sales line pressure 5 bowd in 5 trips Gas requirements calculate to 20 MCF and a starting casing pressure of approx. 750 psi Actual wells with these conditions, measured gas production for successful installations from 5 mcfd to 20 mcfd with a starting casing pressure that cannot be lowered below 750 psi 7

11 Case Study: Well #2 Another 2 7/8 slim hole Well would not unload up 1 ¼ coil tubing Well down for 6 months Blew with Nitrogen, had high initial flush production, but well loaded up quickly Foamer injection worked for a couple of months Put on compressor, foamer, and poor boy gas lift, worked for 5 months, but could not easily run succinctly Pulled velocity string, released compressor Installed Multi-Stager Consistently producing 125 mcfd with an increase of 1.2 bopd 11

13 Marathon Oil Company - Well #2 - Blaine County, OK 300 Well down for 6 months, blew well with N2. High initial flush prod, but well loaded up again in a matter of weeks. Put on foamer injection, worked for a couple of months. Put on compressor, foamer, & poorboy gas lift, worked for 5 months, but hard to keep 3 different types of artificial lift working just right at all times Gas rate fell low enough that well woudn't unload up the 1 /14" coil. Pull 1 1/4" velocity string, release compressor, install multi-stage plunger. Well rate stays consistently higher, very low cost and low maintenance MCFD MCFD BOPD BWPD Repaired leaking supply due to cold weather Jan-03 Apr-03 Jul-03 Oct-03 Jan-04 Apr-04 Jul-04 Sep-04 Dec-04 Apr-05 Jul-05 Sep-05 Dec-05 Apr-06 Date 13

14 Case Study: Well #3 2 7/8 well down for 4 years with casing leak Isolated leak by closing sliding sleeve, and cleaned out tubing with coil tubing unit. Had high initial flush production, but no water production Installed Multi-Stager Made adjustments to controller due to high line pressure Steady production of 65 mcfd and 0.5 bowd 14

Plunger making every trip and bringing up fluid even without backside help MCFD Well down with casing leak for 4 years. Isolated leak by closing sliding sleeve, cleaned out tbg with coil tbg unit, put well back online. High initial flush production, but no water production, below unload rate.
