Luxovit consists of calcined flint, which has been produced by heating flint to about 1200 C. During the calcination a partial conversion of micro-crystalline alpha-quartz to cristobalite and small amounts of tridymite is brought about. Analysis of the product shows, that it contains less than 0.1 % respirable quartz, cristobalite and tridymite in total.
