5 Handling & packaging Sensitive goods like membranes or sealing need an adequate packaging to avoid damages
6 Handling Useful devices The protection of the ceramic modules and their appropriate components needs to be ensured at any time!! Use adequate devices for safety handling
7 Lifting Lift evenly in all 4 corners. Avoid twisting of the modules.
8 Do not drop sharp objects on module Cover the top module during installation to avoid tools or sharp objects being dropped on brittle ceramic surface.

11 Measurering instrumentation Position of sensors If position of flow sensor is on the highest point, the accumulation of air bubbles is probable. Difficult for check or/and calibration purposes.
12 Measuring instruments Position of sensors Flow sensor needs a minimum straight upstream and downstream distance without built-in components (e.g. elbows, valves, etc.) to operate properly.
13 Measuring instruments Ability of level sensors Ultrasonic level transmitter are not the suitable solution for filtration tank. They need a contact free zone until bottom to get proper values.
14 Measuring instruments Ability of pressure sensors In the filtration line the need of a vacuum and overpressure measurement for filtration and backwash is needed Ensure that the sensor is also able to transmit all measured values (inclusive negative) to the PLC!!
15 D H = 0.5 m Hydraulic system Transmembrane pressure (TMP) Depending on position of the pressure transmitter, the indicated pressure changed!! P The suction height between water level and pressure transmitter position (geodetic height) has to be added to the TMP.

18 Piping Make sure piping is in a suitable material that can handle temperature and chemical exposure. Make sure the piping on the filtration side is designed with a velocity of <0,8 m/s on the suction side. And 1-1,5 m/s on the pressure side
19 O-rings & gaskets Are o-rings and gaskets in the right material? Can they handle the water, temperature and or required cleaning regime? O-rings and gaskets are supplied in EPDM if nothing else is requested. Viton & NBR on request.
20 Permeate header De-gassing Permeate header is above water level in membrane tank. Air will get entrapped and backwash will work insufficiently. Permeate header is below water level in membrane tank. Air will not get entrapped in header pipe
21 Tank height No space for extra modules in height! Design your tank with extra height to enable one or two extra modules in case you want to increase capacity or design flux is not met. Each module is 160 mm in height!
22 De-gassing De-aeration before backwash De-gassing the permeate line is crucial before a backwash, to ensure all gasses are removed from the permeate line, ensuring an efficient and evenly distributed backwash. It also removes any build up negative suction over the membrane. De-gassing vent should be installed between membrane and suction pump, as close to membrane tank as possible and at highest point.
23 Clean water permeability test Flux rate TMP [bar] Permeability [LMH/bar] 200 0, , , Before filling membrane tank with feed water, fill it up with clean water and perform a flux and permeability check of the membranes and record the data. Use 3 different flows and pressure set points and note down the temperature of the water.
24 Even distribution of air-scouring Raise sludge volume slowly while visually monitoring if air is evenly distributed. Perform also this visual check before installing the modules, only with aeration diffusors installed.
25 Integrity testing Use of blower By means of the air blower, re-direct the air flow to the permeate line from inside to out and ensure membranes and connections are leakage free. Install hand-valves to re-direct the air flow from air diffusors to permeate line. Visually check for large bubbles on modules and other connections. Sometimes a leak can also be heard (pssssh) if outside water. P&ID illustrating valve positioning from the blower
26 Electrical wiring Measuring cable are very sensitive!! Use separate ductworks for power cables and measuring cables to avoid wrong values due to interferences with wiring cable.
27 Logging of data All systems should have the appropriate instrumentation/equipment to measure, monitor, and record the following (minimum) operating data: Flow of filtration, backwash, blower and sprinkler Pressure of filtration, blower and backwash MLSS Temperature Effluent turbidity RAS flow Check out our O&M manual for more information
