IN CASE OF SERIOUS OR PERSISTENT MANIFESTATIONS, CALL A DOCTOR OR EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE Inhalation : Skin contact : Eye contact : Ingestion : Aspiration : Inhalation of heavy concentrations of vapour, fumes or spray, may cause mild irritation of the throat. Transport the person into fresh air, keep warm and allow to rest. Immediately remove all soiled or stained clothing. Wash the affected area immediately and repeatedly with soap and water. Keep eyes open and rinse immediately and repeatedly with water for at least 15 minutes. Possible risk of vomiting and diarrhoea. Do not induce vomiting to avoid the risk of aspiration into the respiratory tract. Give nothing to drink. If the product is believed to have entered the lungs (in case of vomiting, for example), take the person to hospital for immediate care. 5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Flash Point : See heading 9 Fire extinguishers media : - suitable : Foam, carbon dioxide (CO2), powder. - not recommended : Do not use water jet (stick jets) for extinguishing fire since they could help to spread the flames. Specific hazards : Protective measures for firefighter : Specific fire-fighting methods : Incomplete combustion and thermolysis produce gases of varying toxicity such as CO, CO2, various hydrocarbons, aldehydes and soot. These may be highly dangerous if inhaled. Vapours can build explosive mixtures with air. Vapours are heavier than air and may spread on the ground to source of ignition. Insulated breathing apparatus must be worn in confined premises with heavy concentrations of fumes and gases. Cool down tanks and surfaces exposed to the fire by abundant spraying with water 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Personnel protection : After spillage / leakage : Hydrocarbon-proof gloves, goggles, boots, and clothing should be worn, as applicable to risk of exposure Design installation so as to prevent water and ground pollution Contain and collect the spilled product with sand or any other insert absorbant material Spill cleanup methods : - Recovery : Contain and recover by physical means. Use flame-proof and explosion-proof material - Neutralisation : Collect with absorbent, non-combustible material into suitable containers. control rapidly and efficiently. - Elimination : Dispose of waste in compliance with regulations. Avoid discharge of the material in a steam or a sewer or cause ground contamination. Prevention of secondary risks : Remove all sources of ignition Cut off the electric power supply if this operation causes no sparks in the area containing vapours from the product. 7. HANDLING : - Prevention of user exposure : Ventilate extensively if the formation of vapour, fumes, mist or aersol is a risk. - Prevention of fire and explosion : Avoid proximity or contact with hot surfaces, flames or sparks Vapours heavier than air may spread along the ground and may ignite at a distance Prevent any build-up of static electricty Make provision for water network to avoid any spread of fire Do not use compressed oxygen or air when transferring or pouring the products. - Precautions : Avoid extended and repeated contact with the skin as this can cause skin ailments Avoid breathing in vapours, fumes or fogs Do not spray at high pressure (> 3 bar) Do not eat or drink or smoke during use STORAGE : - Technical measures : Use anti-explosive materials conforming with the application regulations. Prevent any build-up of static electricty - Storage precautions : - Suitable : Keep away form heat Containers and equipments must be earthed in order to prevent sparks due to static electricity Use only hydrocarbon resistant containers, joints, pipe-lines.
