Protective Measures: Avoid contact with eyes. Avoid contact with skin. Avoid inhalation of vapors. Avoid ingestion of product. 4. FIRST AID MEASURES IMPORTANT: START FIRST AID AT ONCE!! Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, provide oxygen. If breathing has ceased provide artificial respiration (not mouth to mouth). Seek medical attention. Eye Contact: Immediately flush eyes with continuous flow of water, holding eye open, for at least minutes. DO NOT INTERRUPT FLUSHING. Seek medical attention. Skin Contact: Immediately flush contaminated area with lukewarm water for minutes, while removing contaminated clothing. Do not interrupt flushing. Seek medical attention. Ingestion: Note: Never give anything by mouth if victim is rapidly losing consciousness, or is unconscious or convulsing. Have victim rinse mouth thoroughly with water. DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING!! Have victim drink plenty of water to reduce acid concentration. Should vomiting occur naturally, have victim lean forward to minimize risk of aspiration. Repeat administration of water. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES continued EXTINGUISHING MEDIA/FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES Use the following extinguishing media when fighting fires involving this material: foam, dry chemical, or carbon dioxide. The product, while non-combustible, reacts with water releasing corrosive and / or poisonous gases. Use water to cool containers. Avoid getting water inside containing vessels. Wear SCBA in positive pressure mode, and appropriate protective clothing. UNUSUAL HAZARDS Product reacts with most metals liberating hydrogen gas which can form an explosive mixture with air. Withdraw immediately in the event of rising sound from venting safety devices or discoloration of the tank. 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES RELEASE RESPONSE Evacuate area, keeping upwind until gas has dispersed. Wear appropriate protective equipment. Dyke spills and neutralize with limestone, caustic soda, or soda ash. Neutralization of acid is a hazardous procedure and should be carried out by qualified personnel. Recover in containers for disposal. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT Full face self-contained, or air supplied breathing apparatus is recommended. Acid resistant clothes, gloves and boots. 7. May also cause central nervous system effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and unconsciousness. Eye Contact: Contact with eyes rapidly causes severe damage and possible loss of sight. Skin Contact: Contact with liquid or vapors will cause severe burns. Skin Absorption: None identified.
