18 SELF ADHESIVE PIPE MARKERS Pipe Markers and Australian Standards Used for pipe content identification, pipe markers must be positioned nearby junctions, valves, service appliances, bulkhead and wall penetrations. AS (Identification of contents of pipes, conduits and ducts) states that pipe markers must be placed in intervals of no more than 8m apart. Pipe marker spacing may etend to (but not eceed) 50 meters on long, continuous straight runs of eternal services. Supplementary Markers AS is based on a colour identification. Safety is most important factor in choosing an appropriate colour. For eample colour for acids and alkalis (Violet) would only be applied where a potentially corrosive hazard eisted. Two supplementary markers provide more detailed information on pipe contents. Colours include: Yellow - indicates especially hazardous materials (with symbols for radioactive and biological hazards) Dark blue - identifies materials fit for human consumption These supplementary markers are sold separately. If direction of flow is applicable, one chevron is to be applied. Variations of application and minimum sizes Variations of application and minimum sizes STEAM DRAIN 40 to 75mm Dia pipe, min. size pipe marker 31475mm and supplementary marker 75mm wide where required Small Service Markers As with all of our products y are deigned to meet relevant Australian Standards. To comply with se standards se markers should be applied as a full wrap of pipe, not as individual labels. COMPRESSED AIR 75 to 250mm Outside Dia pipe, min. size pipe marker 57475mm and supplementary marker 75mm wide where required DRINKING WATER >250mm O.D. pipe, min. size marker 90475mm reflective and supplementary marker 75mm wide where required Remove direction chevrons or cover with supplementary marker as required to indicate correct direction of flow Any reference or interpretation of specific Australian Standards are not intended to be definitive. Please contact Standards Australia for comprehensive information relating to Standards mentioned. ervices Markers:- As wit SMALL SERVICES AS stipulates that pipes with an Outside Diameter of less than 40mm shall be a continuous band of basic identification colour around circumference of pipe. Where applicable, a written description (in uppercase font, not less than 4mm) may be placed on pipe. So y are visible from every angle, se labels must be positioned longitudinally along pipe and repeated around circumference. 18 P R O C H O I C E. C O M. A U
