2 3. FIRST AID MEASURES General notices In case symptoms appear or in any doubt get medical attention. In state of unconsciousness do not administer water through the mouth In case of unconsciousness place the person in lateral position get medical attention. Inhalation If large amounts of dust are inhalated, remove to fresh air. Skin contact In case of skin irritation, wash the exposed area thoroughly with soap and water. Eye contact Remove contact lenses. Keep eyes open. Flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Oral ingestion If dust from product is ingested, immediately rinse mouth repeatedly with water. If swallowing has occurred, do not induce vomiting. Information Firstaiders Mechanically action of the dust may cause slight skin irritation and mild irritation of the eyes and nasal passages. 4. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Suitable extinguishing means Carbon dioxide, foam or dry powder, water. Extinguishing media not suitable for safety reasons Water jets Particular endangerment because of the material or the formulation itself, the combustibles or the evolving gas. 3 6. HANDLING AND STORAGE Handling precautions Wear light weight clothes, fully closed. In case of potential for mechanical skin irritatation wear protective gloves, but not at machines with rotating parts and machining parts with mountings - except light weight cotton gloves. Where large amounts of dust may be generated and where eye injuries may occur wear approved safety goggles. Do not use air jets to blow off equipement. Respect legal protection and safety regulations. Fire and explosion precautions No explosion hazard and no potential for self-ignition. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION Additional Information on Design of Technical Equipment Ensure a well ventilated area by means of local suction devices or by a general exhaust vent installation. Wipe clean with moist cloth or use vacuum cleaners with high efficiency particulate air filter. When dust production (maintenance on filter equipement, manual cleaning of machining when use of air jets) wear half-or quarter-masks with filter P1 rsp. with high efficiency air filters half-masks FFPP1 instead. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY Conditions to be avoided Stable by respecting the handling and storage conditions as stated in section 7. Materials to avoid: Strong acids and bases. Hazardous decomposition products At normal storage and handling none. Slow pyrolysis begins at about 300 C-350 C. Thermal decomposition may release a variety of decomposition products, mostly carbon dioxide and oxides of nitrogen, however carbon monoxide, small amounts of hydrogen cyanide and other off-gases, some of which may cause irritation to nasal passages. 11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION Immediate effects Not known. Experimental information MPDI paper products, which contain fibers as well as polymer, present minimal risk to human health and the environment. The mechanical action of the fibers may cause slight skin irritation and mild irritation of the eyes and nasal passages. Meta-aramid fibers are not listed by IARC and DFG as a carcinogen. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATION (when fully cured) are not a hazardous waste. Landfill disposal has no known harmful effect on ground water or air quality. In general, waste may be incinerated in a suitable installation or discarded in accordance with local regulations governing the disposal of common non-regulated solid waste materials. Material/formulation Recommendation Dispose of product in an approved chemical waste landfill or incinerate in accordance with applicable local regulations.
