Entirely developed and produced at the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel, the movement has the date, the classic small seconds counter at 9 o clock, the mechanism for stopping the balance wheel and the device for changing the time by moving the hour hand backwards or forwards 2

The design of the new Panerai Submersible reveals the great attention paid to perfecting every little detail, preserving intact all the characteristics which have made this model a classic of high quality sports watchmaking. The Luminor 1950 case has a unidirectional rotating bezel with a graduated scale for calculating the time of immersion, connected through a special system designed and patented by Officine Panerai to ensure the extreme accuracy of each click. The distinctive Panerai bridge device protects the winding crown and exercises a light pressure on it, helping to ensure the high level of waterresistance a standard feature of these Panerai models to a depth of 300 metres (30 bar), and 100 metres for the red gold model. Lastly, the dials are clear, perfectly legible in the dark as well as in the light, and immediately recognisable as Panerai. 3

4 BMG-TECH TM 3 DAYS AUTOMATIC 47mm A NEW WORLD PREVIEW FROM THE PANERAI LABORATORIO DI IDEE: THE FIRST MECHANICAL WATCH CASE MADE OF BMG-TECH TM, A METALLIC GLASS WITH EXCELLENT CHARACTERISTICS OF STRENGTH AND DURABILITY WHICH ENABLE IT TO PRESERVE ITS APPEARANCE OVER TIME. The Panerai Laboratorio di Idee presents an invisible but revolutionary innovation, resulting from its continuous research into design and new materials: BMG-TECH TM. The secret of this material, which has been used to make the case of the new Luminor Submersible 1950 BMG-TECH TM 3 Days Automatic, lies not so much in its appearance which is similar to that of titanium but darker grey in colour as in its atomic structure, which provides a range of very useful qualities for an underwater watch: extreme resistance to wear, high strength and great lightness. BMG-TECH TM the material of which the case, bezel, winding crown and associated protection device are made is a metallic glass (Bulk Metallic Glass), that is a material made from a special glass-like alloy in a way which prevents crystallisation, so that the atoms do not arrange themselves in regular geometric structures. The alloy (consisting of zirconium, copper, aluminium, titanium and nickel) is subjected to a high-pressure injection process at a high temperature and then to a cooling process lasting for only a few seconds, so that the atoms do not have enough 4

5 time to become arranged in an ordered, regular structure, as normally happens in crystals. The chaotic structure of the material is the secret of its properties in particular, its extreme corrosion resistance, its great robustness and resistance to external shocks and its resistance to magnetic fields bringing further advantages to the owner of a watch which also provides excellent performance while preserving its appearance virtually unchanged over time. The innovative properties of BMG-TECH TM provide additional features for a model rich in technical content and of unmistakable Panerai identity. An underwater instrument with water-resistance guaranteed to 30 bar (a depth of about 300 metres), the new watch has the bezel with a graduated scale for calculating the time of immersion, which rotates only anti-clockwise, the date window at 3 o clock and the seconds counter at 9 o clock. The clear markers on the blue dial which has a new polished finish creating fascinating reflections provide absolute ease of reading and excellent visibility under all lighting conditions and even in the dark, thanks to the use of two different types of Super-LumiNova on the markers, making it easy to identify the reference points for reading the time and the length of immersion. Entirely developed and created by the Panerai Haute Horlogerie Manufacture, the movement is the P.9010 automatic calibre with a power reserve of three days. Consisting of 200 components and with 31 jewels, the calibre is 13¾ lignes in diameter and 6 mm thick, which enables the thickness of the case to be reduced. The balance is fixed by a bridge with twin supports and it oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). It is connected to a device which stops it as soon as the winding crown is pulled out, so that the watch can be synchronised with a reference time signal. In addition, the hour can easily be adjusted without interfering with the movement of the minute hand, by means of the device which moves the hour hand on its own, in jumps of one hour forward or backward. This function is very useful when changing time zones or moving between summer time and winter time, particularly since adjusting the time automatically changes the date when necessary. The back of the new Luminor Submersible 1950 BMG- TECH TM 3 Days Automatic (PAM00692) is made of titanium and the strap is made of black rubber. 5

The Luminor Submersible Days Automatic Titanio is one of the most classic Panerai Submersibles and the new version is a very contemporary interpretation, enhanced by the technology of the P.9010 calibre and with fascinating aesthetic details which, like all Panerai watches, are the result of its particular functions. The whole case is made of titanium, a material with excellent corrosion and external shocks resistance, as well as being light, therefore ideal for reducing the weight of a case 47 mm in diameter. All the markings and hands on the black dial are white, apart from the Panerai blue small seconds hand at 9 o clock. There is maximum legibility under normal lighting conditions as well as in the dark, thanks to the use of Super-LumiNova applied to the markers, hands and graduated scale. At night or underwater the minute hand and the stud at 12 o clock on the bezel glow with a bright blue colour instead of the traditional fluorescent green of all the other markers, so as to provide an even clearer reference point and to avoid any possibility of confusion in calculating times of immersion. Water-resistance is ensured to 30 bar (about 300 metres). 7

8 The large sapphire glass porthole in the back of the new Luminor Submersible Days Automatic Titanio (PAM01305) enables the automatic P.9010 calibre to be admired. This has a power reserve of three days and the spring barrels are constantly wound by a bi-directional oscillating weight. The movement has two other very useful functions: the mechanism for stopping the balance wheel when synchronising the watch, and the device for changing the time quickly: the hour hand can be moved forwards or backwards in jumps of one hour, without interfering with the running of the watch. The watch is supplied with a strong, functional black rubber strap with a decidedly sporty look, closed by a titanium buckle. 8

A Divers Professional watch suitable for any situation, the Luminor Submersible Days Automatic is the first Panerai Submersible watch with the case 42 mm in diameter, and it is available in two versions: in steel (PAM00682), water-resistant to a depth of 300 metres (30 bar), and in red gold (PAM00684), water-resistant to a depth of 100 metres (10 bar). Both versions have the P.9010 automatic calibre with a power reserve of three days, the time remaining being clearly visible through the sapphire crystal back. They follow the classic Panerai Submersible design, with the Luminor 1950 case fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel for calculating the time of immersion and the lever device protecting the winding crown. All the elements on the dial are clear, perfectly legible against the black background and, in the steel model only, the seconds hand is Panerai blue. The legibility is extremely high under normal lighting conditions as well as in the dark, thanks to the Super- LumiNova used on the hands and graduated scale. 14 AMAGNETIC 3 DAYS AUTOMATIC TITANIO 47mm THANKS TO AN INNER CASE OF SOFT IRON, THE NEW PANERAI SUBMERSIBLE IS HIGHLY RESISTANT TO MAGNETIC FIELDS. THE THICKNESS OF THE CASE HAS BEEN REDUCED BY OVER 10% COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS VERSION, A RESULT MADE POSSIBLE BY THE INTRODUCTION OF THE NEW P CALIBRE. The new Luminor Submersible 1950 Amagnetic 3 Days Automatic Titanium is the latest version of the first anti-magnetic watch produced by Panerai, with a new movement, the P.9010 automatic calibre with a power reserve of three days, and modified design resulting from the reduction in the thickness of the case and the perfecting of some details of the dial. In the Luminor Submersible 1950 Amagnetic 3 Days Automatic Titanium it is the construction which guarantees its extremely high resistance to magnetic fields: 40,000 A/m (ampère/metre), a figure more than eight times greater than that stipulated by international standards (NIHS 90-10). Such a high limit has been achieved thanks to a special inner case made of soft iron which insulates the movement, forming a Faraday cage which deflects the flux of magnetic fields. The soft iron case is immediately below the dial which is made of the same material. The advantage 14

15 of this construction is demonstrated not only in extreme environmental situations but also in everyday life, in that watches are often exposed to magnetic fields generated by electric charges and currents produced by everyday objects such as computers and mobile phones. Such magnetic fields could seriously affect the running of the watch, even to the extent of stopping the movement. This possibility is excluded in the new Luminor Submersible 1950 Amagnetic 3 Days Automatic Titanium. The inner case of soft iron is contained in a classic Luminor Submersible case made of brush-finished titanium with the bridge lever which seals the winding crown and helps to achieve the degree of water-resistance to 300 metres. The new version also has a feature which gives it a great personality: a matt black ceramic disc applied to the rotating titanium bezel set with studs forming a graduated scale for calculating times of immersion. The bezel only rotates anticlockwise to avoid accidental shocks interfering with the measurement of the times of immersion. Two other very useful functions have been incorporated in the P Manufacture movement used in this new Panerai creation: the mechanism for stopping the balance wheel when synchronising the watch, and the device for changing the time quickly: the hour hand can be moved forwards or backwards in jumps of one hour, without interfering with the running of the watch. The clarity of reading is excellent even in the dark thanks to the use of Super-LumiNova on the hour markers, hands and graduated scale: by night or underwater the minute hand and the stud at 12 o clock on the bezel glow a bright blue colour instead of the traditional fluorescent green of all the other markers, so as always to give a clear, unmistakable point of reference in calculating the times of diving. The new Luminor Submersible Days Automatic Bronzo renews Panerai s tradition of creating iconic underwater watches with unique and distinctive characteristics, with excellent technical features and a strong historical inspiration. A few years after the original launch of the watch, when this fascinating ancient material, always associated with the sea, was first brought onto the international stage of high-quality watchmaking, Panerai presents a new watch with a bronze case, combined for the first time with a blue dial. The bronze used to make the case (47 mm in diameter) and the classic bridge device protecting the winding crown is an alloy of copper and pure tin, which is highly resistant to the corrosive action of sea water and atmospheric agents. As well as being structurally very strong, this material preserves its warm original tones, while acquiring an agreeably worn look from the characteristic patina which forms over time. This patina is the result of the reaction of bronze with external agents and it has no effect on the intrinsic properties of the material, but it is a visual sign 17

18 of the ageing process, making every example unique and different from the rest. Also made of bronze is the rotating bezel with a graduated scale for calculating the time of immersion, connected to the case by a special system designed and patented by Officine Panerai to ensure the maximum precision of the clicks. In the centre of the back is a sapphire glass porthole through which the P.9010 automatic calibre, with a power reserve of three days can be admired. Completely developed and produced in the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel, the movement is only 6 mm thick and it has very useful functions including the date (at 3 o clock), the small seconds counter (at 9 o clock), the device for stopping the balance wheel so as to synchronise the watch with a reference time signal, and the mechanism for rapidly adjusting the hour hand, which can be moved forwards or backwards in one-hour jumps without interfering with the running of the watch. The new Luminor Submersible Days Automatic Bronzo (PAM00671) is water-resistant to 30 bar (300 metres) and it is completed by a brown leather strap with sewing of a nautical character and a titanium buckle.
