Pressurizer for Vertical Air Conditioners Increased Safety for Hazardous Locations General Description Industrial Climate Engineering s (ICE) EXN and OLG pressurization units are a series of HVAC unit mount or wall mount systems for hazardous or general purpose locations that provide automatic room pressurization and/or purging for electronic equipment shelters, process control centers, E-Houses, and other sealed buildings. The series includes multiple sizes ranging from 500 CFM up to 4,000 CFM. Standard operating room pressures are 0.1 INWC for pressurization purposes and 0.35 INWC for room purge operation. Different set points are available upon request. Industrial Climate Engineering s larger pressurization units (4,000 CFM) feature an analog controlled 3-phase motor with a backward inclined impeller and the necessary controls for either basic pressurization or purge/pressurization operation. The smaller (0500 through 2,000) units utilize a single-phase AC motor with an adjustable blower wheel inlet damper and the necessary controls for either basic pressurization or purge/pressurization. ICE general-purpose units typically are utilized in only a basic pressurization mode and come with the pressurization motor and housing, motor control panel (attached to pressurizer housing) and a room pressure transmitter/ controller. General purpose (ordinary location) units can be specified as either a PR for pressurization only or a PP for purge/pressurization. ICE hazardous units are typically utilized in purge/pressurization mode and come with the pressurization motor and housing, motor control panel (attached to pressurizer housing), hazardous area purge control panel for remote installation and a room pressure transmitter/controller in a NEMA 7 explosion proof instrument housing. Units for hazardous locations can be specified as either a PR for pressurization only or a PP for purge/pressurization. The remote purge control panel is designed with ON-OFF controls and automatic or manual controls for purge and pressure set-point control. Features and Benefits Certified. Not Modified. Major components are accessible for service beneath external panels. If pressurizers are ordered as unit mount, they will come assembled to the HVAC unit with built in knee bracing. If they are ordered as wall mount, they will ship separately with either a floor stand or wall mount knee bracing. All units have internal disconnects. Depending upon state and local code requirements, this feature may eliminate the need for an external breaker or disconnect. 3 Modes of Operation Normal Start-up Pressurization Only: Upon a contact closure from the customer, the pressurization fan will energize and increase airflow to satisfy the room pressure controller set point of 0.1 INWC. When a door to the building opens, the airflow will increase to maintain room pressure and when the door closes, the airflow will decrease to maintain increasing room pressure at set point. Normal Start-up Purge / Pressurization: Upon a contact closure from the On-Off controls in the Purge panel, the pressurization fan will energize and increase airflow to satisfy the room pressure controller purge set point typically set at 0.35 INWC. After five minutes of run time at this pressure, a PURGE COMPLETE indicator on the purge control panel will illuminate and the pressure controller will switch to the pressurization set point of 0.1 INWC. When a door to the building opens, the airflow will increase to maintain room pressure and when the door closes, the airflow will decrease to maintain increasing room pressure at set point.
