Caution when running over uneven ground. Brief participants about what to do if there is a problem. Young people to work in a buddy system. Include surrounding tree area Helmets should be worn for dynamic activities whilst taking part in this activity. Helmets may not be required for some activities at the discretion of session leader Instructor/session leader to brief participants at the start of the session about spotting and why it s importance Instructor/session leader to brief all participants to assist in the management and supervision of these rules Instructors/ session leader are to brief participants not to have any objects in their pocket and to verbally check before starting the session (falling objects and falls onto objects) Instructor/ session leader to brief the accompanying adult about where to stand, how to help and to assist in ensuring the participants keep helmets on.

Adapt a buddy system throughout to ensure all participants are spotted whilst on the equipment. When using the low ropes course generally only 1 participant on each element of the course. However for this number may be increased for some team activities. Ensure the group knows the signal to STOP the activity. All participants to stop and wait for further instruction when asked to do so.

Ensure sufficient clean water is available to put out any fire and for immediate treatment of any burns

Stranger danger Session Leader to ensure campsite gate is locked at 9 pm. Ensure all adults know gate combination. Participants briefed about other adults who may be on site and advised who volunteers are and other staff are in association with OLS.

Ensure soap, towels in wash rooms, and hand gel in kitchen area & backwoods cooking area. Advise hand washing after every activity before eating /drinking.
