1 South Jersey Diving Association Table Workers Volunteer Job Descriptions 1 Announcer: The announcer should review the sheets to be sure they are legible and the names pronounceable. The announcer should call for the judges to assemble and read the order of divers for the event. The announcer reads the name of the diver, the dive number, the letter of the position, the dive number, the DD, and the next diver. For instance the announcer would say, Sue Smith will perform a 101C, forward dive, degree of difficulty 1.2. Diver on deck Jenny Johnson. After the dive has been performed the announcer will ask for the scores from the judging panel. Example: Scores 4½, 5, 4½, 4, 4½. The announcer should read the scores from judges in the same order for each dive. The announcer will also state when a new round of dives is beginning such as Beginning the second round of dives. At the end of the event, the announcer will state the conclusion of the event and announce the next group for warm ups. Example: This concludes the 9 and Under event. The boards are now open for the age group. 1 Master Scorekeeper: For qualifying meets the diver meet sheets should be arranged in the following order: Girls novice sheets, Boys novice sheets, Girls JO sheets, and Boys JO sheets. Both sets of meet sheets are numbered with the assigned diver number and separated into two stacks from 1 st to last. Prior to the start of the event the master scorekeeper writes down all of the names on the master score sheet in the assigned dive order. Record the Start Time of the competition on the master score sheet. As the event runs the master scorekeeper will record all of the judges scores for each and every dive performed. As the announcer reads the judges awards; the master scorekeeper writes them down on the master score sheet. Record the End Time of the competition on the master meet sheet. 2 Scorekeepers: The scorekeepers write down the scores on the diver s sheet under JUDGES SCORES as they are announced. If there are only three judges, the three scores will be added and recorded under NET TOTAL on the diving sheet. If five judges are being used, the scorekeeper will cross off the high and low score and add the remaining three scores 2 Tabulators: The tabulators multiply the total score by the degree of difficulty and record this sum under the AWARD column of the divers sheet. After the first round, the tabulators will add the prior round s award to current round s award to find the diver s current award total. This sum will be recorded in the bottom section of the AWARD column. 1 Checker: The responsibility of this table worker is to compare both diving sheets to see if the same total is under the AWARD column. If there is a discrepancy between the sheets the checker must attempt to find where the sheets differ. The error needs to be corrected in a timely fashion so that both diving sheets are accurate before they are passed back to the announcer and the scorekeeper. 1 Sheet Runner (optional): The duty of the sheet runner is to return one set of sheets to the announcer and the other to the second scorekeeper. The sheet runner has the added responsibility of ensuring the sheets remain in the same order as they were previously.
